Velma, the show about Mindy who got rejected by a white man and now she's trying to frame him for murder
She wants that vanilla in her vag
yikes, burn the writer, not spit roast them over an open blazing fire (but by all means!)
Velma is just Mindy from the Mindy project in high school.
I eventually stopped watching the Mindy project because I started to hate her unlikable character there too
@@TheBladd Now I see Mindy as a shallow snobby attention whore and a mean spirited bitch.
I wondering who's that white man in real life 🤣
It is aggressively unfunny.

Maliciously unfunny
Diabolically unfunny.
Yup
Defiantly unfunny.
Mindy is the definition of privilege. She grew up upper class, went to an ivy league college & never had to struggle to get where where she is. She made Velma herself insert but this version of Fred is actually her.
Yeah it's honestly extremely insulting that she is trying to equate herself with cultures and ethnicities that actually have these struggles.
Is Mindy white? For some reason I thought she was black.
@Skyrashe
She’s of Indian decent.
Rich as fuck never had to worry. But thinks she’s really oppressed because she’s been told she is by shit media.

You can feel the hatred & bitterness behind the awful writing
The truly pathetic part is that ol Mindy probably believes herself to be a revolutionary or the voice of the downtrodden or some shit.
1 joke for every hot white guy that didn't ask her out growing up...how pathetic
When this show finally gets erased then we shall all finally be happy
It's like Sonic Boom if the writers *REALLY* hated Sonic as a franchise.
Theyre...getting..a....season 2...
Mindy’s logic is pretty much “if you don’t like it you’re just wrong.” She’s not even trying to seem less egotistical at this point.
Hiding the truth from herself, while showing everyone she is a pedophile and terrible writer. AH, Mindy Mindy MIndy... I feel like we gonna see you 20 years from now getting arrested from stories about all the teen shows you write and act on.
That's accurate to her reaction to most people hating the show
My mom use to say you see someone soul in their art. Wow, just wow, Mindi’s soul is ugly.
Assuming there is a soul to begin with
Nah, there is no soul, just a black hole of spite.
Comments like these make me thing velma is just hated for no reason you can criticize alot about the show but the lighting and art style are pretty good
Which is congruent with her physical form as well.
@@spiralentree737 sadly that is not enough to redeem it. A finely polished turd is still a turd.
as a teen, i thought scrappy was the worst that could happen to the scooby brand. oh a sweet summer child i was...
this makes Scrappy look like a saint
Scappy is our lord and savior
Scrappy made a good villain though.
A show starring Scrappy would've been better than this.
I love Scrappy!!! He’s awesome!
I wonder 2 things. 1, why does the main character, Velma, constantly seek white validation and approval. And 2, why is Fred the most relatable character in the entire show and he’s supposed to be the comedic relief? 😂😂😂
Fred's relatable?? Explain
So you’re relating to a mysoginistic, racist psychopath
The worst part is that it’s true lmao
Have you ever seen that one "comedian" in person.. she is the same way in reality.
@@trshbgs they said most relatable not relatable
Because mindy kaling herself does the same...all of her shows has the main character doing the same
Shaggy - Strangely perceptive pothead former track star who' used to running away from his problems
Fred - Obsessive conspiracy theorist who runs the school paper.
Daphne - Vicious social climber with a penchant from digging up dirt on people. Also "the rich one"
Velma - Reads a lot of true-crime and is an amateur profiler, however she has come to be distrustful of everyone's motives because of her digging into the worst that people can be
Velma's still our perspective character and there's even still a death at the school. Velma investigates each of the other main characters as potential suspects.
Fred is known to be obsessive and secretive and was romantically interested in the deceased. Velma pursues him until she realizes he's also investigating the murder
Investigaiton moves to Shaggy who is suspected of growing/making edibles, so his motive might be that he killed the victim to keep his secret. Shaggy's perceptiveness comes out here as he's the only one of the group to repeatedly catch Velma tailing/skulking and initially mistakes it for her being "into" him.
Daphne is the last suspect, the potential motive here being that the victim was a rival of hers.
As Velma strikes each of them off her list she picks up clues from each of their unique perspectives. Additionally each character is shown to have some talent at some aspect of investigation. Thus Mystery inc is born.

I did this in maybe thirty minutes and it's more coherent than the drivel a whole writer's room came up with.

The fact that they want to give this show a season 2 is amazing. Its like HBO just shot themselves in the foot and was like, "What if we shoot the other foot! That should cancel the first one out!"

@@melaniegrace7707 what is "work" ideology?
It's weird how they can release the best video game adapted series ever (The Last of Us) simultaneously with one of the worst animated shows of all time
Their logic is this:

"Yeah, but they're hate-watching"
"All I heard was 'they're watching'. Sign it on for another season"
"Don't we have something better to replace it with?"
"...Nope."

This show actually made me appreciate the multitude of scooby doo cross over movies, never thought that could happen
Idk how the writer isn’t apologizing for this, to her friends and family. I’d be absolutely embarrassed if my name was attached in any way to this trash.
The writer is actually proud of this drivel sadly. A lot of these kind of things like this and "Im not Starfire" have people that legitimately think the way their characters act is awesome and amazing and that being strong and good means being a complete asshole to everyone around you. It's kind of sad honestly.
It's worse than a cringey fanfic because at least they try to follow the recipe
The show should either end now or just reboot
I bet the writers in big denial about it.

As a bitter 14 year old, I can confirm that this show has the same writing as I would come up with.
My guy, no u seem funny, u would’ve done this show Justice. They made a garbage fire or a shit storm
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 THAT'S HILARIOUS 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This comment made me slightly chuckle, which is significantly more than the show managed to do, so I wouldn’t sell yourself short.
We have a problem in the world if fourteen year-olds are 'bitter'. These poor kids aren't even allowed to be kids anymore and have went straight to old age mentality.
you are already funnier than this whole show! 🤣
We could also talk about how they sexualized people who are in highschool and is quoted multiple times that they are underage
Yeah now that you said it that part is fairly creepy
This! Like it's weird enough on its own but the fact Mindy felt the need to constantly mention the age and even specify that Fred hasn't even hit puberty yet still treats the characters like that really should be a question towards Mindy's character as a whole to me-
But 15 is under age in most states
Not defending it but so many shows were like this in the 2000s, maybe the writers just haven't evolved past that era. Like I can't rewatch some stuff I really enjoyed as a teen because holy crap I am not going to watch *two thirty year olds pretend to be two teenagers having sex I do not need that*
But even people nowadays will watch weird stuff imo, like I absolutely hated big mouth since season 1 and none of my friends got why. I just don't think it's the right way to approach writing about kids, even for adult animation.

They basically said, “Let’s make a Scooby-Doo show, that isn’t Scooby-Doo.” Like, I hate to think of all the writers/animators that were dragged into this project knowing it was going to fail.
I think the best way to make this show to go away is just. . . Not watching it, not giving it attention, it's that simple, the first rule was no hate watching because everyone knew it would be terrible
Yeah, they don't care if we like the show or not, they just care if people are watching it, they'll keep making it as long as they are getting enough views on each episode. We just have to take the views away, then they'll have no interest in keeping it running.

What it should've been: some crime happens (I think murdering and removing brains is a bit much for a Scooby Doo show) and Fred Jones is implicated. His girlfriend, Daphne, knows he's innocent and sets out to prove it. She quickly realises she doesn't have the brains, so she enlists her one-time friend, Velma, and round out the group with Shaggy and his dog for some brawns. During the season, Velma and Daphne reconnect as friends, Velma grows as a person/comes out of her shell of bookishness (may even have a montage) and Daphne learns that being popular isn't everything etc. Shaggy learns that drive and ambition are important, and can't be a pothead forever. Fred learns, through the cell bars, that his popular persona and treatment of others (this is Fred's character growth) have had real impact, often detrimental, on others and he vows to be someone others can look up to for other reasons, such as leadership.
Various characters could be introduced throughout and "mini-mysteries", but the overall arc of the season is Who Framed Fred - at one point, even the group and viewer should question if Fred is really even innocent.
Ultimately, Fred is found to be innocent and was indeed framed: the one who committed the crime was none other than a teacher at the school, a Mrs Maling, a 40-something teacher who fell in love with Fred and when he, being underage and most certainly not interested in a 40-something, rejected her, Mrs Maling thought it was just a matter of time before he'd spill the beans to the principal/police and get her arrested, so she set out to get him arrested first. She never did count on his newfound "meddlesome friends" though.

I have the impression she always intended for it to be this, because iirc she was expressly told she couldn't have Scooby in it and the promotions all but bragged they would spitefully dismantling the IP through this self-insert fanfiction. @@DanTheThirdy Infinity Train wasn't a HBO Max original. It was originally Cartoon Network
Personally I think it's funny that they thought scooby being a talking dog wouldn't be too silly for an adult show when Family Guy is one of the biggest animated shows and it has a talking dog
Imagine some parent putting this on for their kid thinking it's a new season of Scooby-Doo.
Scooby Doo has the most successful paved and reused premise of possibly any franchise and somehow HBOMax found a way to mess it
Velma wants so badly to be Harley Quinn and it will never come close.
2:45 really, if it was animated in the same style, I would've fully believed that they made this joke. Like every joke they have is toilet, sex or meta humor.
I would trade this show a million times over for a series based around Scrappy Doo...and that's saying a lot.
I'm of the opinion that I'll see for myself whether or not I'll enjoy something. I had seen people online talk about this show negatively, and I thought "it's can't be that bad...can it?" Even my friends told me not to watch it because, and I quote, "It's the I am Not Starfire version of a show."
So I thought, "Okay, maybe the trailer would give me an idea about the show itself,"
Just the trailer alone pissed me off, I ranted about it 3 times and got a headache. Who thought this was a good idea?
Imagine making something so terrible that talentless RUclipsrs can profit off dissing it. My god!
Scooby doo is about a UNITED group that solved mysteries togheter. While in Velma's show, the entire gang is separated and basicaly hate/simp over each other while there's a serial killer on the loose (they could find out who the killer is? well yeah, but the characters are too busy being angsty and depressed)
Any time Mindy tries to be relatable she's just taking for the sake of talking lmao. All those words and yet nothing is being said
All we needed was puppy Scoob with pothead Shaggy, Velma love interest with Shaggy that falls through but they stay friends and really like Scoob, Shaggy almost gets jumped and Fred stands up for him, Fred's upperclassmen kind of dislike him after that but he's just too liked/cool, Daphne is a total b*tch and becomes friends with Velma and learns to be more investigative, and decides maybe she wants to become a reporter... and go to a cat island...
But you know, we got this. THIS.
We could have had baby Scoob learning to talk, instead we got THIS.
No, Daphne is the popular girl who winces when she sees bullying but she can't do anything because she promised dad she wouldn't get into another fight. Sweet, loyal, secretly full of rage. Has ambitions of a highstakes career in design but she's stuck as a part time model and has to fight the urge to 'improve' her outfits.
Check out the movie scoob
This is what hiring diversity gives you. Instead of hiring the best person, regardless of everything.
At least I got a genuine laugh out of your comment after Velma said "Sorry I can't conjure up a new personality whenever I want" BUT YOU COULD TRY WRITING ONE 🤣🤣🤣
I expected Velma to be Hyouka. Some sort of low-stakes mystery show focused on character interactions. The gang is right there, and it's easy to work your way backwards to imagine how they got to where they are now.
But the pilot dashed all hope of greatness. There's blood and death in the pilot in a prequel to a series where nobody really dies. I expected the group to bumble their way through local oddities and figure out how they're actually normal with their individual talents... but instead we get this... whatever this is.
Guess I'll just watch Hyouka again. Or Mystery Incorporated if I really want a dose of Scoob.
Imagine the kids that are secretly watching this show and thinking it’s cool , it’s just going to mess them up for life 🤦🏽♂️
Was Mindy an actual writer on The Office or did she just get credit because she was in the room with the writers?
She partially improv-ed her character.
@@samreddig8819 she should stick to improv then. She was funny in the office.
Yeah she was a writer on the Office. Don't know what happened here tho 🤷🏾♀️
Its the right wing brain rot, think dave chapelle
She was probably just the coffee runner
When Velma said “it’s velming time” and velma’d the bad guy to death I felt that
No. Just no.
@@leonrobinson8180 still more entertaining than the actual show
She Velma'd all over the place and made a mess
Inside the HBO boardroom:
"Look at how many people are watching this"
"Yeah, but they're hate-watching"
"All I heard was 'they're watching'. Sign it on for another season"
"Don't we have something better to replace it with?"
"...Nope."
Imagine inserting yourself into a character that is the most loved character from the childhood of millions of people and suddenly this character becomes one of the most hated in the world. That's what happened to the writers of this series. I feel sorry for them. Naaaah, they deserve it.
The scariest thing is now they're already talking about making a season two.. why must the universe hate us so??
Nostalgia is dangerous but to go against it so harshly is a death sentence
It's a tightrope walk for sure, and Mindy swan dived towards the audience
That person who walked into the writers room was Mindy Kaling, and she wanted her self insert Velma character to be the center of attention. So of course she was gonna have the dog removed.
I feel like the people who actually own the Scooby Doo trademark saw what this shitpile was going to be, and when they signed off on it (or were pressured into signing over it) they put a disclaimer in their contracts that said they could not use A) Scooby Doo, B) The regular depiction of Shaggy, and C) the Mystery Machine (unless it's actually there, because in the few videos I've seen that rail this show, I've never seen it) to give it a few degrees of separation from ACTUAL Scooby Doo cartoons so it could just be left to rot properly once forgotten and they could revive the PROPER Scooby Doo characters in time, and this just coincidentally happened to align with Mindy's view of how the show should go, making her feel like she got away with everything she wanted to do.
Mindy Kaling was the worst part of The Office. And these type of things prove it.
This show is telling us a lot more than we want to know about the lack of talent and other inner workings of modern hollywood.
Didn't know Mindy was the mind behind this show, everything makes sense now, she's from that comedy generation ruined by directors allowing improv to go way too far.
4:00 Didn't even PEEP that😭. The "writers" really do NOT review their works for any of these new shows dropping...seriously💀
The show is racist and shouldn't be allowed since we cancel other racist things
Could it be because Mindy is such a priveledged person that never had to work to get anything..she isn't funny, isn't creative...
Mindy & Feig have been riding that writing gig for the *Office FAR TO LONG*
Mindy probably got inspired by that subversive comic Garfield minus Garfield.
But that comic strip was genius showing how other characters could stand by itself without Garfield as a joke
The main funny part of it is jon sounds like he's going crazy
When this show was announced I had a much better idea for it - that rather than literally being Velma and the others from Scooby-Doo, the Mindy Kaling character was INSPIRED by Velma from Scooby-Doo, so dressed like her and roped her three friends into "solving mysteries", only for them to get in way over their heads when the mysteries they investigate are a lot more complicated than "man pretends to be ghost to scare off real estate developers".
Seeing the "humor" on this show I don't think my idea would've improved it.
This show actually makes The Patrick Show look like a masterpiece
"Where the hell are my pancakes" is unironically the funniest thing in the show
I think the lesson here is don't mess with nostalgic shows that have success. All the other Scooby based shows, stayed true to the essence of what made them likable. This one is kind of like executives sat together and said Harley Quinn worked, lets do that for all our cartoons. What's next on the list? Scooby? Ok lets dirty it up so adults like it, we can abuse kid's minds and make some money. Yeah.
Yeah I think they were like "what made Riverdale work?" And tried to replicate that.
(Meanwhile Harley Quinne Works because despite the Hard R, it does respect its characters and comic book origins and is a lot of fun. And I have NO idea what makes Riverdale work.)
@@ChasehaWing Riverdale works because the first season was genuinely pretty good. And after that, it became so balls to the wall insane that its still entertaining despite being objectively awful. You have to give Riverdale that...its rarely boring.
do you think this exact show would be more successful with new characters instead of recycled ones?
