Forspoken Full review and gameplay review. Forspoken full game story and gameplay review and analysis 2023. Forspoken is a game from Luminous Studios that is more embarrassing than my high school photos. This is why Forspoken is bad
Shout out to the Gamestop employees who try to dissuade customer from buying terrible games. I remember buying Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City and the guy selling it was like "Don't buy this game it sucks." I ended up returning it a few days later lol
My local GameStop wagey does the same thing. I just tell him that I find it hilarious to see just how bad some of these games are since the only way I feel you can truly get the full picture of how badly a developer shat the bed is to play through their absolute trainwreck of a game firsthand while laughing your keister off in the process. Actually found some “so bad they’re good” games I’d never sell by doing that, just sayin’. 😂
Operation raccoon city wasnt bad but u could have literally had that in any other universe nothing really says resident evil except some of the characters
Those same Gamestop employees convinced me to get a PS3 in 2006, mind you the major games didn't hit till 2011ish😅.

I wish I could buy ORC on steam. I rented it on PS3 ages ago. Honestly yeah it was janky and rough, but it was also fun. I loved playing the multiplayer. If only I could play the campaign coop with 3 friends nowadays
Says a lot when you consider Hi-Fi Rush completely crushed this game in sales and reception with absolutely no marketing plus nothing more then a casual shadow drop.
Not saying it wasn’t good but hi fi rush also released on a subscription. Forspoken was bad and cost 70$
@@chrisbrown113096 Fair enough :) but I do think the excellent quality of Hi-Fi Rush also partly contributed to it's success story as well. I also do think at least to do some degree it would have done very well even if it had not released on GamePass if all the other factors remained in play (shadow drop and no marketing campaign).

Why pay $70 on the most mid to bland AAA video game Forspoken when you can spend $30 on Hi-Fi Rush and get more out of it with the same estimated runtime
Two different types of games. Rush crashes, graphics feel like getting stabbed in the eyes with ice picks due to no background or motion blur.

Is there any lazier or more generic twist in a story than it turning out the character was some sort of chosen one or secret hero all along? Cpmpletely throw any sort of effort or character growth out the window, it was just her destiny the whole time
Its one the oldest, most effective character archetypes ever. Why would effort or character growth be an issue?

And completely more shit if it's not done correctly.
For example fallout 4 the character was looking for Shaun his son and the entire time Shaun had already grown up old. Your character was the chosen one and potential person, you have to make the hard choices of picking factions. The minutemen, institute and or the brother hood of steel.
However I'd guess most people would've picked brother hood of steel for the power armor and such benefits of the vertibird.
But I choose the institute to follow old Shaun's ideals and rebuilding the world with the high technology of the institute.

There's an interview with one of the credited writers where he mentioned there was an original game story concept they worked on but was ultimately rebooted by square enix and in the aftermath neither him nor amy hennig(who i assume u were talking about?) had much if anything to do with the new story and especially the dialogue.
@Waywardwind wasn't Amy henning that i talked to. It was one of the writers to the new script that didn't work. Some chick with the named Rhianna Pratchett, she worked also on Mirrors Edge.

Times really change it seems. Now Square Enix has always been hit and miss but when there was a Square Soft on the box you knew you were getting quality stuff.

So one day to play the whole game, didn’t fully understand how to use the combat correctly, didn’t do the mutants or side quest, didn’t play on hard mode and joke the dialogue the entire video as if it’s not a a GAME. But l it’s worse than you thought” this is a terrible review.
Part of the fun that games like GoW and Elden Ring is the learning curve of the combat. Pulling off combos in GoW and figuring out the Dodge/Parry timing for Elden Ring+GoW for example is so satisfying once you learn them and Forspoken just goes the route of mash your way to victory.
In every video game u smash ur way to victory in god of war u smash ur runic attacks till the boss is dead and in elden ring u use summons and run around in a circle till it beats the boss for u😂😂

All the hate this game gets is crazy. It’s actually pretty fun. Dialogue isn’t great, that’s true, but I have been playing for about 40 hours and it’s fun. Story is kind of weak, but the gameplay is pretty good. Not worth $70 bucks, I agree, but I use GameFly, so for a rental, it’s worth playing.
What’s worse is that the creators of forespoken attempted to do the new industry standard of “insult and belittle your target audience” for not buying the game. I dig the concept as someone who likes watching isekai type anime. However, this game looks rushed with a heaving handful of bad creative direction.
I am curious to know if anyone tried to say "hey guys idk about this writing" at any point in the development phase, or if it was just an echo chamber all the way through until the game slammed into reality like a brick wall

I'm not defending the game or anything but you keep saying it "copied Elden Ring" yet they were in development at the same time. Both were being developed for years. It's not like they decided to make it once Elden Ring released.

From the very first trailer of Forspoken, I knew it was a game to avoid. One of my biggest pet-peeves with modern gaming is a main character that constantly talks.
I honestly think this game is going for the marvel route. Dumb jokes all the time and cringy moments that they think people are funny

Might have been a touch more engaging and enjoyable with a character creator, player dialogue choices, and maybe even a silent protagonist.

I personally hate the over-use of silent protagonists. They're often used as the default choice, even in games where the character has their own personality.
And then Forspoken was so kind as to demonstrate what the *complete opposite* of a silent protagonist sounds like.

I think it's a fun game, nice graphics, interesting gameplay, fast action and a wide variety of spells. The conversation of the main character and others is no worse than that of many other games, such as dragon dogma, dragon age, assassins creed, etc. Sometimes better, the development of the main character and how she views the world and herself is fine. But hey, I'm a 70 year old gamer who has been playing games for 42 years and still enjoys them.
"Bad games still cost 70$!!" Yes, price has NEVER been an indicator of quality in newly released games. If its an indie game it may be cheaper (and better) than a AAA one.
People often say how they got Hollow Knight on sale and felt they stole from Team Cherry. That even buying at full price would have felt the same.

Frey’s so unlikeable at this point that she makes Alex from YIIK look like a kindhearted and overly caring individuals by comparison. Y’know, the goofball who’s often cited as being one of the most if not the most unlikeable indie JRPG protagonist of all time due to how he treats his so-called friends as well as never shutting the heck up even when monologuing to himself? 🤣

When I saw Forspoken for 70$ (over 300 in my currency) I was like "Not gonna happend. Too much money for a game I know nothing about".

There's so many subtle elements that make a game fun and memorable. Forspoken has none of this. Just soulless product for consuming.
The spells in combat is like a consumable drug I can get high on dopamine until it expires. It had me on the power level from the trailer until it becomes auto drive, but it’s stupid fun for me that ends quickly when I’m fighting enemies. Boring and simple punching bags I can test on until idc. On a different game with the flashy and variety of spells, it’s satisfying for me to play with for hours.

No one’s surprised that majority white cyst men are leaving poor reviews on a game with a black female protagonist. I’ve put in over 50 hours of game play and am still finding new parts of the game. The graphics are amazing, the storyline is rich! Okay some dialogue is redundant. Should that discredit the rest of the amazingly stunning work of art. The disrespect this game received is a poor excuse to promote underlying racism and sexism.
Why does it look like a 720p PS3 game with FXAA? Looks like a blurry mess.

I rarely nitpick about character design, i believe everything has artistic aspect but not only the protag swears so much she isn't even pretty to at least compensate her horrible character.
This review is basically what i feel about the Horizon zero dawn games, very pretty extremely boring.

Game companies have a political agenda nowadays. Worry more about checking boxes than a quality product. This is what ends up closing studios. Working as intended.
I have to doubt that a significant amount of this game's budget was spent figuring out the skin tone of their ethnically non-ethnic protagonist, or inserting their "political agenda" into a game with no discernable theme or message.
I like that you noticed that the voice actors did their job. The problem is that if script sucks you can get the best actors but story will not get much better. One of the problems with this game is in its writing. There are of course other issues.

but the main issue is, a story isnt about all the events. its about character. if you cant get the viewer, reader, player invested in the character, you failed. there is not story worth sitting through.
The original superman movies worked well even with all powerful character. because the story wasnt about those powers. it was about the character. the powers were just the wrapping to tie it all together.
and a game world and setting can be a compelling character as well if the world has a story to tell. something that keeps the audience wanting to know more.
game play can tell a compelling story. the powers and abilities and the reason you use the controls the way its set up.
The game Okami does this very well with its painting combat system.
i couldn't tell from the video what the combat system was trying to be. it didnt seem like it was interesting game play.
