He would pinch a piece of it off and wrap it on his line instead of buying split shot and I always thought that was a great idea. I love your videos and channel buddy. Lay under a shade tree, drink the wine (yeah you'll have to finish the bottle to get the cork) and just think of new fishing hacks. I've used wine corks to make popping corks and top water baits. Caught a nice size pike using a poping cork, a jig head and a small kick tail. I superglued 3 together in a row and made a walking lure and caught a small bass with that. 😁 . I like the hammer trick. But the brass, alot of brass is really hard to find. I could see using .22lr for 1/2 Oz or 1/4oz pencil drop weights 🤔 but the bigger brass that's $$. Steel case though. I can see that.
Hey think you could come up with a wooden rod holder for a boat? I have an 80s sail boat that I'm repurposing into a normal.mini fishing boat (8') and I'm using wood as seats and want to do wood grain rod holders as well.
If you heat the lead for the flat sinker with a propane torch a little it will be easier to mash or if you have a hydraulic press to mash it. However a good hammer and a strong surface works with a little more physical labor; however it great exercise for strengthening the arm to fight that big fish you are making the sinker for in the first place. My dad and I use to make sinker when I was a kid. My mom would cringe every time we melted lead on her stove. She guarded her cookware pans from us everytime. Even though we bought one explicitly for melting lead over the years we finally bought lead melted. We too use to invent ways to create various shapes and styles. Everytime I see you with a sinker hack I think of my dad; however he has long since go on to be with the Lord as the memories of him lives on. He loved fishing and I remember the joy it gave him. He to like to teach others DIY hacks.

So I was wondering if the cork would float better if you sprayed some sort of sealant on it. Also love your videos not only are they useful but they make ya smile
A cork or float will only float as much weight as the water it displaces plus the weight of the cork, painting the cork is not that much weight but it will keep the cork from retaining water thus more weight.

I use an electric engraving tool to write the weight size on my sinkers so I always know which is which. It never fades or comes off

Your Hack #2 you should use the spray straw after you Flatten the sinker drill the hole out the size of the straw then insert the straw Just Saying

Keith this might be silly but what about wrapping a skinnier pool noodle around a wine cork?
Think it might be able to suspend bigger baits (weights)

I'll try too . Strength will be the issue above everything else , it would have to be laminated I would think 🤔

I was waiting for the aquarium bottom to crack when testing the float for buoyancy. Those egg weights were really wracking the bottom of tank
