Using stones for sinkers might be a good idea when you got those finicky fish that won't bite when anything somewhat unnatural is around.

I have using rock sinker for years. No drilling just use SS wire and wrap the rock. Then use crazy glue and baking soda. They will hold up great… no more lead in the sea.

Try the rocks again but use a hammer drill. Concrete typically has rocks in it and a masonry bit always works but only with a hammer drill.

I used straws to make slip pencil floats for trout. Use hot glue or silicone to seal top, glue a small egg weight and barrel swivel in bottom. Casts real far, very visible, won't spook fish, and super sensitive to light bites. Caught 22" trout with one this past week drifting in current down a ledge.

when making your attachment loops for sinkers, lures, etc... put an allen wrench in a vice put the wire around it and insert the two cut ends of the wire into your drill and you'll get perfect loops and help prevent getting any barrel swivels caught in the twists. Love the videos!!!

I cast cannonball weights, 1-2-3-4 ounce sizes. But fishin in the Colorado River recently, I was wantin for some no-roll weights. I found I can pound a 4 ounce cannonball flat and get a nice no roll 4 ounce about the size of a silver dollar. I used my double jack sledge hammer and a piece of steel plate as my anvil. So there you have it, sinker hack #14.

I keep my weights homemade and cheap almost free, I take any old rock assorted sizes flat works better for Rivers cuz it does not roll, Take 6 or 8 lb test line make a slipknot choke it up on the Rock and put a blob of five minute JB Weld then put a loop in it and there's your weight no expensive swivel a snap swivel is placed on your main line so you can add or subtract weight...

I’ve been thinking about those cement weights they use to hold down party balloons.
I was thinking of putting a dollop of cement on a square of plastic wrap and one of your wire loops in the wet cement and twist it up and wait for it to dry. Then I might plastic dip it or epoxy it.

I don't know how they do it in the States, but here in Europe, they use lead flashing where the roof meets the masonry, and also around window frames.
I love that stuff, for dyi sinkers. You can even wrap it around the shank of a hook for dyi weighted worm hooks, so you can make them whatever weight you want.
It's getting rare, these days, but sometimes when they take down an old building, you might be able to get your hands old lead drain pipe. Awesome for ring sinkers or flat sinkers, or to melt down for sinkers or ammo casting. There's a lot of weight in that stuff. Inch n a half diameter weighs about 3-4 pounds a foot, iirc.

Ta-day I learned a bit.... Use sand or pebbles in the tubing idea, even tiny ball bearings , when at the dollar store go to arts and crafts area for the rocks that go in your aquarium. I like the glow in the dark plastic style because in slower water they work great for cats and walleyes, plus they are easier to drill into ,plus they bounce along covering more water.,....washers have always worked as a sinker for me ever since I was a kid.,. Slinky rigs are the right way to say it, here in Canada we slinky rig and paracord with tiny ball bearings. Orange is my favorite.....

It just amazes me when I see people from all over the world enjoying your great videos. You must be so proud. Thanks for all your hard work and keep them coming. I also wanted to know if you are doing any winter (cold weather) cat fishing?

Thank you , because it Amazes me too lol . My favorite time to catfish is winter and spring but I haven't got to do that much this year . I'm struggling just staying constant with with and my videos . But spring is coming and I love spring equally as much lol

Ok... separate comment... isn't it way cheaper to buy some of the sinkers you showed... buying stainless bolts/nuts/wire + epoxy + plasti-dip ='s expensive.

Your right it would be cheaper to buy sinkers or make your own , ive got lots of videos on DIY sinker molds . But it's not if you've got SS nuts your not using .
And some states aren't allowed to use lead like in NY . So it's really for them

You can also change the sex of your bolt by addin nuts.
