- In this video i build a garbage can enclosure from left over materials i had lying around from the shop build. Any materials i did not have i tried to by the least expensive options.
I'm getting ready to start a garbage storage enclosure build and I just happened upon your video. Thanks for taking the time to show the process. Recently I came across a great video that explained the correct way, from a structural engineering standpoint, to attached the diagonals on barn doors or in this case these doors as well. The diagonal bracing isn't just for aesthetics, it actually serves an important function in keeping the door from sagging over time even if you didn't have a plywood backer. The diagonal brace will provide functional bracing if you turn it around from the top away from the hinge point, to the bottom of the hinge so the front should look like this for maximum support / \ . I say this not to be critical, but to be informative.
Thanks, you saved me the trouble. The braces should be the other way round. Pointing towards the lower hinges.
Love the video and the “deliberate” mistakes.😂😂. Thank you.👏👏👏
shit happens.., 😂😂
Good job,nice unit !👍💯
Nice video, I like the extended format.
Thank you for watching
just awesome
Aren’t the doors braced the wrong way round?
This is decoration. They were put this way to match my barn doors on the shop. Bracing is not required for application as the doors are plywood.
This is a good point though.
So you’re saying your barn doors are braced wrong also?
If you had to guess how much would you think this would be in lumber?
I believe it was five 2x4 - 8 foot, seven 2x3 - 8 foot, five 2x2 - 8 foot. one sheet of 1/2 treated plywood for the base. 1 piece of 1x8- 8 foot red cedar. Five 1x4 8 foot. 1 piece 4x8 1/4 plywood for the doors. Prices have jumped so much for lumber i could not guess what the cost would be for new materials.
I couldn’t afford to buy the wood for this kind of project so, I’ve recycled wood discarded by other people. So the only cost was the hard ware. 😀
