The ends of pressure treated wood rotting out is because the builder probably didn’t field treat the wood. The pressure treatment doesn’t extend through the entire thickness of the wood, so cut ends need to be treated.
Awesome idea. I'll probably butcher this one a little and make mine 2 sides instead of 3. It'll stay open and no latches to wear out. Thanks for all the thoughtful ideas!
Anyone else think he was talking to his daughter when he said “what’s that?” Great video as always keep up the great work! Always refreshing to see the kiddos helping you out

This is great bro. HOA just sent me a letter stating that my cans are noticeable from the street. I just bought your plans and I’m halfway done. Just gotta add the doors and fence pickets
It came out nice but it would have been better for us if you would have told us what size was the wood when you was cutting it you w a s just cut it and installing it
Is it possible to get those cans open to drop a trash bag in without having to pull it out of the fence?? Could have run that top board behind the cans.
Exactly what I need for my cans. Purchased the plans, but review the Bill of Materials page (page 3), you listed 11 2x2x8 PT, You do mean 2x4's, right?
Tack a thin piece of wood on the bottom of the outer most front posts thus alleviating the sag?? or use bigger hinges? or....cut a bit off the bottom of the planks? Good luck..just brainstorming after building this, but for just one can.
I like your work...but I'm a newby to wood working etc, and would have like to have seen how you navigate the planks nearest the hinges so they don't make contact with each other when you open the gate. It appears you have cut the planks in half as i can see the chrome hinge between the planks. Anyway, thanks again. I found your video very helpful as I've completed 2 days of a 3 day build, but for a solo can (3x4)...thus, I'm ready to tack on the planks.
Our two trash dumpsters sit on a (tight) 48" x 60" concrete pad. Will your hutch fit on our concrete pad? It looks perfect for us and hoping we can make the hutch fit the pad dimensions.
Great idea, I've been thinking of doing the same. We have blue trash cans and they're ugly too. Also, do you think it's a good idea to have your boy wear some gloves while handling pressure-treated lumber?
Dont think I've seen a good looking can! A splinter never killed anyone (I don't think) other option is gloves ran over by the lawn mower. If we had a lot to move we would have some gloves on, holding a few pieces is no big deal.
Printed in the USA, want to same manufactured in Thiland but don't quote me on that. Printed and embroidered by fellow RUclipsr's company @bunkerbranding
Cool project! I'm going to do something similar to house my lawnmower on the side of the house, but it will have a roof as well. Keep up the good work!
The wife is glad the trash cans no longer bother the husband 😁 It's easy to use (without pulling the cans out) and easier on the eyes too. Thanks for watching!
Wood rots out because water gathers where the wood meets the ground/pad. Surface tension keeps it there, giving it time to wick into the wood. You want to stop rot, put 1/4” or 1/2” metal / plastic feet under the contact between ground and wood.
I've gotta say Tyler, I really don't like the style of video where you show us the final result before the build. It takes all the wonder out of it. Has anyone else given you this kind of feedback? It's like watching one of those makeover shows but they ruin it by showing you the final reveal before the renovation.
@@DIYTyler Sorry if it sounded harsh. I like your channel and you but I just like being surprised by the final reveal. Best of luck to you and your channel. Still a subscriber.
My trash can or more likely called Garbage can is just keep on the other side of house so can't be seen from the street except on Trash pick up day or more likely called Garbage pickup day or late at night the night before. Any thing that is no longer of use that is sticky stinky or messy I consider Garbage. Waste Paper and non messy stuff no longer of value would be trash. So to me Garbage and trash have different meanings although similar. Paper shredder you end up with trash, while garbage disposal gets rid of garbage left in a sink.
Absolutely the cutest helpers!! Loved the build, but appreciated the inclusion of ALL of your helpers, including your pup! 😄
Thank you! 😊
I love your helpers. I am always pleased to see dads with the next generation a of makers.

Can you open the lids?
Nice! Very Very Nice😊
How did you calculate the amount of wood to be used for the project
Awesome idea. I'll probably butcher this one a little and make mine 2 sides instead of 3. It'll stay open and no latches to wear out. Thanks for all the thoughtful ideas!
That works too! Make what you need and make it your own

Just tall enough to help dad........awesome brother keep up the great vids.
Saw this and had to do it myself. I had old fencing and boom done. Thanks
for cold area, that a great idea, for warn area, it will become cockroach's lovely home
Superb video George U.K.
This is great bro. HOA just sent me a letter stating that my cans are noticeable from the street. I just bought your plans and I’m halfway done. Just gotta add the doors and fence pickets
Beautiful work. How about a top or something to put plants on or grow some vines? I'm not a fan of a plain wooden box.
How do you put trash in without having to pull them out every time? Looks like the can lids would hit.
Nice! It will look even nicer once painted with some deck paint.
I like it and want to do the same. I would like to be able to open the trash cans while they are in there.
We're building a house right now and this will be perfect for us. Simple and effective.
Oh and more merch ads like that please!
Lol! Glad you liked the ad man! Always kinda uncomfortable to make.
What were your Dimensions? I would like to build one to hide my trash cans. I have same size trash cans. Very nice job!
Great idea and I like to see the little Tyler in the making helping you.
Thanks Doug! He likes to lend a hand ...not always super helpful but it's good for both of us!
Great one but I have loads of snow so will need a top as well
Those trash cans are cool! Cascades (the type of trash can) is cool
Great job man.
Good one.
Looks great no more trash to look at. BTY how do you like the stealth impact from ridged. Looking atGetting one
It is probably one of their best tools, such a HUGE sound difference and much faster.
@@DIYTyler where are the schematics for this? Do not see in the comment section
We have snow in the northeast so I would have o figure out a roof section.
It came out nice but it would have been better for us if you would have told us what size was the wood when you was cutting it you w a s just cut it and installing it
Well done...looks great !!!
Thanks Nivada!!
Are you able to open the lid without rolling it out? It's hard to tell.
Definitely able to leave them in, as long as they're parked squarely! Very important feature for me!
@@_the_wife_3323 you have the greatest username!!! 😂😂😂
Not hard at all!
That's great.

Definitely can, a very important feature for me! Thanks for watching!
Where I can find materials list used for this project? I have 2 bins just like yours
Aesthetically a great change. I have similarly sized trash and recycle bins to deal with and you’ve given me some quality food for thought, thank you!
Awesome! You definitely won't be disappointed, much improved look!
Tyler u are so good
Looks 10,000 times better, hiding those giant green uglies from sight!
Indeed! Thanks for watching Tom!
Great job. Looks really nice.
Where might I find these plans?
Great video. Looking to build one similar. Did you bolt the base into the concrete? If not how do you ensure your enclosure is sturdy.
I have the same miter saw stand. Love it, but the brackets are stupid expensive and hard to find if you want to swap tools.
It is really really handy to have around and I've used it way more than I thought I would! Thanks for watching man.
No top?
Great work , enjoyed the video. Only thing ,should really have safety glasses etc on .
Awesome job Tyler! 😀👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred!
NIce simple project that anyone can do. Good Job Tyler!!
Thanks man! That's what we are going for.
Exactly what I need for my cans. Purchased the plans, but review the Bill of Materials page (page 3), you listed 11 2x2x8 PT, You do mean 2x4's, right?
Yes definitely mean 2x4s. Thanks for pointing that out will have to take a look at that!
Really clean build. Can you add trash to the cans from the top without opening the doors? Couldn’t tell from the vid.
Yes you can! Thanks for watching!
The link for trash can plan is broken
The link is broken can you pleas fix it?
I built this but my doors are sagging a lot in the middle and won’t swing properly. Any tips you can give me?
Tack a thin piece of wood on the bottom of the outer most front posts thus alleviating the sag?? or use bigger hinges? or....cut a bit off the bottom of the planks? Good luck..just brainstorming after building this, but for just one can.

Second to next project on my list. I might consider adding a floor and casters 🤔
Thank you for creating and sharing this video.
God Bless.
Whatever works for your situation!
Put lids on the top
with you being in the snow belt, put a roof on it so you dont have ice adn snow build up inside
Was originally the plan but the wife suggested no lid for ease of putting the trash in. Thanks for watching!
Tyler G. Just for curiosity, I have a question. How often the trash cans are empitied?
Kinda odd question! Trash comes once a week, we usually have e a can and a half for the guys
Great idea, I've been thinking of doing the same. We have blue trash cans and they're ugly too. Also, do you think it's a good idea to have your boy wear some gloves while handling pressure-treated lumber?

@@DIYTyler Great answer!!!! 😆
nice work 👍👏👏👏👏
Thanks man!
Looks like you have to remove them from the build so you can just add trash or will it open without having to pull them out ?
Oh you can open these from the side without pulling them out! Very important feature for me 👍
Can open the lid through the top. Was gonna add a roof but didn't want to have to hold the roof and the can lid at the same time.
Nice looking solution, Tyler!
Nicely hidden, I have the same problem. Need to find time to do this....
Love your merc ad !!
Do it! Glad you like the ad, a lot of people get all up in a bunch about them.
Do you recycle at home? If not why not
So did Ridgid cut you off? Just saw you covered all the names on your tools
Other way around unfortunately. Thanks for watching!
Tyler G you need to go with Milwaukee! They just released a great cordless tool line
I gotta believe they would have no problem getting behind you!
They are actually made by the same company! Holding hope Ridgid will come back in 2020 but will see. Thanks for the encouragement!
Is the hat and shirt made in USA Tyler

How about some ideas for easy to make Christmas gifts?
I need a mitre saw table
I don't believe in screw without a pre-drilled hole
Awesome! But why am I watching this? I live in the subs, with a narrow sidewalk and no room to swing a door. LOL!
This guys uses a miter saw like a serial killer
Looks like the garage lids are hard to access. Maybe it's just me. Cool build though.
They're accessable from the side and I can toss the garbage bags in without issue. Thanks for watching!
Wondering if a flip lid or top could be added. The raccoons and squirrels could bite through my plastic bins.
Cool project! I'm going to do something similar to house my lawnmower on the side of the house, but it will have a roof as well. Keep up the good work!
Are you using 2x4 or 2x2 ? your material list says 2x2 your video says 2x4
No longer sponsored by ridgid? All the names on your drills taped over
But not on the cordless miter saw, strangely.
Unfortunately no, since Jan, still have a few stragglers that need to be covered.
Nice one! What does the wife think about it?
