Nice man! I did the same thing 2 months or so ago. Used horizontal slats on the back as well and stained. Neighbors loved it and asked me to build them some! Had same issue as you.....hides an otherwise unsightly trash area etc. and makes curb appeal bump up! I even put a flower planter on front which adds some “SEXY” which I know you love. Love your skills man.
Wow TJ! I love hearing that and thanks so much for sharing. Always love adding curbside appeal and adding some Sexy Beast to the surrounding area haha.
Thanks so much for all of the support as always. Good luck on the rest of that herringbone tile. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out because it looks amazing already
Sometimes the smaller project can make the biggest difference! ❤️ I’m lucky we live in a semi detached house so bins can be kept in back garden for better kerb appeal ...but now I’m thinking I could still do something like this to hide them especially through the summer! 🤔🤔😂🤗🙋🏻♀️💕🇬🇧jane
I love the intro, lol popping up out of the trash can. I don’t have cans, in a county area have to take trash to a drop of station. Yep floating the surface fill the voids and compact the cement always a must.
As a cable guy, that house box hanging off your wall in the beginning of the video was throwing me off. I couldn't Help but get agitated by it lmao. Comcast needs to get their Xfinity techs in line and tighten up their work haha.
Well Roger I can blame Comcast for a lot of aggravation but thats not there fault. I loosened up the box when I installed the brick veneer in the front of the house. Thanks for looking out and hope you enjoyed the video.
@L. Z. just call it in. Without a FVD to verify it's safe to touch, don't. We reck out old drops all the time. However you may have to contact each provider to remove their line. Legally we can't touch the competition, even for safety reasons.
Hello Byot, It's tidy. I am sure it will look even more beautiful when you paint it with the color of the house. But isn't it a little out of the way? I guess there is no problem when unloading! Congratulations. 👍🙂🙌
Great to hear Volkan and thanks so much for watching. It works for my space and its the only good spot for our garbage bins. Thanks as always for your continued support.
i love you r videos, i'm just surprised you never treat your wood ... no sanding the edges, no painting, no protection ... I just really love watching painting wood, so i totally miss that part :D :D
As usual you put out a good video with excellent voice over instructions. Another benefit of your videos is the fun drinking game. You gotta do a shot every time you say “Actually.” I’m getting tanked after a few videos. 🥴
Great to hear Benjamin and sorry you missed the Live Steam. I'm sure Leah and I will do another live stream in the future and I'll make sure to give people more notice. Thanks for all the support.
Linn, his aren't even the biggest ones. based on the dimensions he mentioned in the beginning, he has a 64 gal (~240 L). My city uses 96 gal (~365 L) trash bins.
Looks clean and of course I love the cedar! Glad you didn’t dig your posts underground, I feel they don’t last as long otherwise. Btw, BYOT have you checked out Man About Tools “Potting Bench”? I’d love to see your twist on something like that too.
Great to hear Jewd and thanks so much for the channel suggestion and topic. I'm sure my wife would like that setup haha. Thanks for the continued support as always.
Nice video! Thinking to concrete my side driveway using this method. I don’t have a truck, how can I get the crushed rock and concrete in the Seattle area?
Great to hear and good question. If its a small project then you can just get bags of rock and concrete. If you need a large amount of concrete and in the Seattle area then the U-Cart Concrete is from Handy Andys. You can rent a truck from them supper cheap as well.
Nice job. I will do something similar to this on my house too. But why is there no support for the wood fence at the top? It looks like it flexes a lot even when you are just putting the screws into the planks in the video. Shouldn't there be something like a Simpson Strong Tie metal fastener ($2 right angle metal bracket) to attach it to the house (brick or wall)? Even then, the front part/post of the wall is not supported that great. I guess its ok but if you get strong winds or something bumps into it there could be damage, no? If the posts were in the ground or the concrete it would not be an issue but I understand that you did not want to do that. So how can we make that fence a bit more sturdy???
Awesome Video! Hopefully this will get seen, i'm having trouble locating the rubber barrier you used around the gas line. I'm running into a similar situation where the electrical conduit goes into the ground where I will be adding concrete. do you happen to have a link to the rubber barrier you used?
That's funny! My son's neighbor did something like that. He even hired people to do it. The bad of it is that there is so much junk in front of the screen it's a joke.
Looks good Brent! My kind of project. Simple, quick and effective and nice looking. Do you think you’re going to put a finish on the cedar to preserve the natural beauty?
Great to hear Roger and good question. I prefer to just keep it natural and let it gray. I enjoy a natural gray on cedar. Thanks for the continued support Roger.
@@BYOTools I prefer to burn it… not accidentally but on purpose… well that still doesn’t sound right. Let’s try that again. I like to char wood for outdoor projects. Pine planters & such. Cedar is supposed to respond well and that’s my next project.
I live in Japan, we don’t have trash cans. You just put it out in the special bag (depending on the day and what garbage you have) out front onto the sidewalk
Great job dude! I would have put a 2x4 on the backside at the top to lock it in better and to help reduce wobble...and if you want your posts to last about 10x longer, you should cap them with a pre-made post cap to keep the rain out! Keep in mind the wood is basically just a bunch of drinking straws grouped together and you have the endgrain (open ends of the straws) pointed straight up to catch all the rain! I added solar powered illuminated caps to mine...helps to find the cans at night when no lights are on!
Great timing Alex. I've been looking into the new CC feature that RUclips just launched and I'll make sure this is done for my video in the near future. Thanks for watching Alex.
The book provides clear illustrations ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO diagrams that cover many of the essential topics. The projects at the end of the book are valuable for enhancing your skills and creating your own furniture. A digital platform linked to the book that could offer the plans for other woodworking projects with the cut sheets would have been a nice addition, but overall, the book is excellent.
I'm always an advocate of calling 811 before digging, however, this is very miner digging plus I know exactly where the line is since I personally was there when they installed the gas line. Thanks for looking out though. Hope you enjoyed the video.
A simple but very elegant design! I love this.
My thoughts exactly Lisa. Thanks so much for watching and your support.
And at today's lumber prices.... a $400 project!! Looks good Brent
Unfortunately you are correct Carlito. Prices right now are insane but at lease this is a smaller project :) Thanks so much for watching.
You can make the most laborious project into the greatest joy to watch! 🛠
Love hearing that John and thanks so much for watching. I always try to make my videos fun and educational and glad its coming through.
Time to add this to my husband’s list of things to do. 😂. Very nice way to hide ugly trash cans! 👍🏻👍🏻
Looks great 👌🏻. It’s the simple things like hiding your trash bins that instantly boost the curb appeal.
Couldn't agree more Ron. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Greatly appreciate your support.
Thankyou for the heads up of the expansion joint on the concrete! I had no idea about them!!!

doesn't it require a reinforcing steel mesh ?
Nice video. Quick question, could you have saved some time by putting the bolts in for the posts whilst the concrete was still wet?

how big does a slab needs to be before it requires a control joint ?

Do you need a permit for a small slab like that>
Wow this is a great DIY video. What is the name of a black material between the house concrete slab and your garbage enclosure concrete slabs?
Amazing!
Can you polish concrete to a mirror finish?
Question: could you have set the brackets in the concrete before it cured for the 24 hours?
He could have set the threaded rod in the concrete before curing.
I would try to match the color of siding of the house 🏠to the wood 🪵
Could you have just set the brace into the wet concrete?

That's overkill for a city that's going down the tubes.
But guess what....
You should have inserted and set the metal anchors soon after you poured the concrete. Would have saved on all the drilling.
