Laying pavers for trash can pad. Cost about $55. Took 2.5 hours. I'll be posting future DIY/home improvement videos here: / @steveandritasdiy Tip jar: www.buymeacoff...
I love your video!!! I copied your details to the letter and it turned out perfectly!! I live in Florida, moved here from CA and the soil here is easier to work with! No clay to bust through. Problem is, the area for the trash can is in direct sunlight all day and it took me 3 hours to do the job since I had to take several breaks to cool down. I started at 6:00 am, too! Thank you so much for making the best video on laying pavers for trash cans!! You saved me a lot of money!!! 😊 ❤❤❤
That's totally awesome! Glad the job turned out good. Yeah, whenever I worked outside in Florida there wasn't an inch of clothing that was dry. Everything was soaked in a few minutes. Moved to SC to beat the heat. Actually saw snow once here. Hope you enjoy FL!
Awesome video. I’m not that handy but your video has inspired me to give it a shot. Mine will be a little bigger, because I have to put two containers on it. Thank you
LOL!!!!! That was when we were in Florida. This video did better than my music ones, lol!! Hey, either way I'm happy if I can show people how to play bass or lay pavers!!
@@stevekonbass well, that’s what it’s all about. I learned how to do something I didn’t know before. It’s your personality though that makes all the difference. Lol
Hey man, here's another one of your comments I just got today... a month later. People might be thinkin' I'm anti-social. Just got like a dozen of these.
@@stevekonbass wow. That is strange. I haven’t been getting notifications for your channel lately either. Not like I was getting them. If I don’t see a video from you or a comment from you, I usually go back and see what your latest one was.
Looks perfect. Thanks for making the video. We've got Blue, Green and Black bins where I live so it makes it even more worthwhile doing something solid like this for all 3. Cheers.
Exactly what I was looking for. First time homeowner with my wife and never really had anyone around to show me things like this, so thank you for being a lazy bastid and making this video haha.
LOL! Love it! Congrats to you and your wife on being first time homeowners and Happy New Year!!! There's a whole lot of other DIY home improvement videos like this that I did on my channel. Hopefully I can save you some of your hard earned cash instead of hiring the repair guy! Good luck with the house!!
dude "NICE" job, this was exactly, what I was looking for, a small area similar, to fix a bit up, bang on dude, nice and clear, love the quote "not gonna be all scientific or anything" lol nice good work brah
Thanks for the vid. I copied your method for a small area for my grill - about 4 feet by about 3 feet. I used large pavers. I'm not good at this stuff but it worked. I didn't get it exactly level but it does the job. Also, I had been a lazy bastard for a while too and my wife was pretty impressed with my work. Initially I didn't get enough paver base stuff so I had make another run for more. Here in Illinois I had to break up a bit of limestone but luckily not much. Thanks again, man.
im a lazy bastard myself and this is the exact type of video I need to do an area for my grill. How have the pavers held up for you guys after a year or 2 of settling?
@@KingAK0922 LOL... I'm getting lazier by the day. The pavers held up fine Abhilash. They got a little dirty after 3 years, but I power washed them a few weeks ago and they look new.
i'm doing the same thing beside my garage. there was landscaping there when we bought the house new. excessive landscaping on the corner/side of the garage. i dug up all the bushes etc and now will put down some pavers for my hose and garbage cans. is it necessary to lay down some of that plastic weed block before the paver sand and stone?
Thanks. Very helpful. Would have liked if you had shown the edging and described it and how you cut it. Plastic? Metal? It comes with spikes to hold it in place? Thanks again.
thanx bro I did mine today 4/1/22 I wish I could show you the before and after pix, I just wish you'd said how heavy the left over dirt is 😁....my job came out nice but not as good as yours....I didn't level it but.... hopefully it holds up... thanx again your video gave me the gall
That's what I'm talking about! You came, you saw, and you conquered. Now ya have 1 job done and a million more to do right? Just spread the left over dirt around in the yard.
I need to do this myself... Nice job! Looks good! I need that exact pad, except I have 2 bins.... Looks simple enough. Let's not get overly scientific about it! haha!
Where did you buy the edging and how much did it cost and how did you get such small sections? I cannot find anything smaller than 6ft. I want a 5x4ft rectangle area for a park bench to go on.
This is the best and clearest explanation on how to build a patio for my trash cans. Just what I needed. Thank you!

Nice job. I'm going to make one for my grill.
Not excessive at all and very informative for this female anyhow
Thanks for watching Cindy.
Osceola County here! Going to do this for my grill and trash cans. Thanks for the video
Hey that's a good idea to do it for a grill. Happy grillin'!
OMGoodness! This was EXACTLY what I wanted & didn't have to wade thru dozens of videos! Nice work!🌼

Nice video. I agree with Beverly...clear instruction and you cut right to the chase.

No. Everything gets tight and compact when it's done. I haven't had any weeds show up.
thank you so much for the tips.
Thanks Steve, just what I needed!
You're welcome. Hope it helped.
Great video!!!
great job..thanks for sharing
Did you have issues with grass growing between the cracks?
Nope. As long as they're put down right and the sand is worked in there shouldn't be weeds.
Thanks. Very helpful. Would have liked if you had shown the edging and described it and how you cut it. Plastic? Metal? It comes with spikes to hold it in place? Thanks again.
Plastic with plastic spikes.

Pride. F the haters. Pride my dude
Wow...nice
What paver edging did you use?
I think it was expert edge from Lowes.
I need to do this myself... Nice job! Looks good! I need that exact pad, except I have 2 bins.... Looks simple enough. Let's not get overly scientific about it! haha!
LOL! Never get too scientific about it Pat! Yeah man, it's a simple job. You can knock it out in an hour or two.
@@stevekonbass You like you really know what you're doing so I have a question....can i use this process to widen my driveway and park on it ???
Sure. I wouldn't want to use a hand tamper on it though.
@@stevekonbass ok...thanx bro
"I been a real lazy bastard..." - Immediate like/subscribe! LOL
Where did you buy the edging and how much did it cost and how did you get such small sections? I cannot find anything smaller than 6ft. I want a 5x4ft rectangle area for a park bench to go on.
For this project I bought everything from Lowes. The edging I just cut to length. If I remember right, the entire project was around $60.
How many bags of base did you need for that 36*36 space??
Ah... that was a long time ago, but I think 2 for the base, maybe 3.
What size pavers did you use? Looks like it took 36 of them
Hey Jamie- If I remember right they were called Holland pavers and I got them at Lowes. 4"x8"x2"
The gravel base and the sand paver base look like the same to me. Are they both sand?
Paver base and paver sand are two different things. The paver base has a sand/gravel mix.
Do you tamp down the sand as well...or just the paver base?...Thanks
I tamped down the base but just leveled the sand.
Do you have to use the paver base?
Yes.
What kind of sand do you use at the end to broom in?...Thanks
Polymeric sand.
Hey it’s been years since this install how is it holding up?
Good as the day I did it.
stevekonbass cool I’m thinking of doing that for my trash area too but more of a 10ft x 4ft area. Thanks for putting the video.
Glad it was a help. You can knock it out pretty quickly. Easy job to do.
stevekonbass hey if you even remember, what’s the name of the pavers you used? I like those might get the same ones.
I got them at Lowes. I think it was the Holland pavers for .48 a paver.
Just wondering why u used sand..florida soil is like 85% sand... just a question.. for weeds or something? Or is your soil more soily or somethin?
Standard way of doing it.... it keeps everything compact and tight in place.
The paver base and sand was $3.50 a bag at Lowes when I checked today. I guess it's gone up in 3 years, yikes!
I'm about to do this myself. Is it necessary to angle it slightly to prevent water build up next to house?
With the small pad I laid down I didn't have any concerns about pitching it.
My question too, thanks!
You'd want pitch/slope for a bigger job like a patio. For a tiny job like this I wouldn't worry about it.
Hows this holding up for ya?
Great. Had to pressure wash it once to clean it, but other than that, great.
i am not going to get overly scientific about the whole thing.
I have 3 garbage cans to do this 4. I’m just gonna but some 16x16 pavers and do what you did.
Sounds like a plan brother. That should do the trick.
Man I’m jealous, digging in Ohio sucks, I feel more like an archaeologist chiseling through rocks.
I know the feeling. PA had rocks too. Had to break out the pick ax up there.
