    for longer term durability, you want to spray the boards on all 6 sides before assembly so you get the wood fully covered on every side and end. If you dont water will work its way in and expand and contract the wood at different rates, cause warping and splitting etc.

      exactly my thought

    Great project that’s easy and looks really good! Few suggestions for others: Use pressure treated lumber, spray the boards before assembly so moisture can’t find the way to the wood, and cap or seal the end grains for long term moisture protection.

      @conradcoolerfiend 3 года назад +1

      with PT lumber, do you have to wait a couple weeks to it to dry out before staining?

    • @allent555
      @allent555 3 года назад +1

      @@conradcoolerfiend If it stored dry (inside) no. Also suggest selecting a UV restraint sealer after staining like one from TotalBoat.

    Great project and looks great. One thing you might want to consider is to add either a pressure treated sill plate or add some rubberized feet to the fence posts since you have unprotected wood with ground contact.

    Nice. Something like this would also work perfect for an A/C unit screen.

    Garbage can/dumpster privacy screens should be in the building codes. Nothing is more unsightly than trash cans.

    Looks great. Was wondering if you did one or two coats of the paint. I have always been intimidated by paint sprayers. Am now reconsidering. Also ordered my Kove speakers. Posted it on FB because it was such a wonderful deal. Will let you know how I like them. Thanks for sharing. 👍

    i would say cut the bottom part of right post of the section you open to put the cans in, and screw in a castor wheel so you can easily open and close without having to adjust the rest of the fence everytime

    Another nice project. With our HOA, certainly something we need to do, hid the bins.
    Curious, since it is outdoor wood, don't you have to wait, before you can paint it? I do not want to have to wait; probably why I did not consider using wood.

    • @conradcoolerfiend

      she used regular 2x4's, not pressure treated ones.

      It is called “privacy screen” for the mere purpose of NOT exposing completely any stuff that you want to cover.
