Here's Why Steve Really Quit Blue's Clues

- Steve Burns served as the host of Blue's Clues from its first episode in 1996 until he decided to quit six years later in 2002. As the beloved host of the children's show, Steve was the amiable dog-parent to Blue, a spotted dog with a penchant for leaving clues around their home. But after 100 episodes, Steve left for college and let his on-screen brother Joe take over. And while Donovan Patton's Joe was a serviceable host, people couldn't help but wonder about the real reason Steve Burns left Blue's Clues.
Bizarre rumors surfaced about drug abuse, death, or just simply wanting to follow his dreams of being a musician. And while he did go and form a band, the rest of the reports were untrue. So, exactly why did he leave Nickelodeon for greener pastures? Watch the video to learn why Steve quit Blue's Clues!

I remember watching Blue's Clues when I was a kid and when Steve left in 2002, I never saw the show again. I truly felt that since we all love Steve, he was like a brother to all of us. I never did watch Joe much, Steve will always be remembered when he hosted Blue's Clues in 1996. I'll never forget when I first watched Blue's Clues in 1997.
When I was young I hated Joe he was no where close to being as good as Steave
I saw a current episode and it is not the same! I miss Steve.
I watched him on Vhs tape but yes we will remember him
I watched Steve and Joe. But not a fan of the new update

Blue’s Clues was such an important part of my childhood! I’m glad that children today can still enjoy it!
It kinda just turned to trash
@@VenomFan1998 yeah I kinda feel bad for them that have to grow up on trash reboots and cocomelon
Honestly the new Blue's Clues is trash and the main character doesn't help anything honestly it's not worth the time to watch it Steve and Joe where the best characters hands down

Watching this after watching Steve's latest catch up video in September 2021
The last time I saw him on TV he was being drenched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. He looked so sad and cold. We felt real bad for him. Glad to see he is doing well!
STEVE!!!! *hugs* I am so glad he didn't leave for a bad reason. I honestly was above the age range for Blue's clues but I enjoyed it occasionally with a friend and was rather sad to hear he left the show. Rapid hair loss, especially so young is a bit worrying but it's better then "he became a druggie" and I'm happy to know he's involved with the show's revival =)
Steve Burns (according to Behind the Clues: 10 Years with Blue): I knew I wasn't going to be doing children's television all my life. Mostly because I refused to lose my hair on a kids TV show and it was happening fast.
The video covered that
@@Raidei Yeah.
Steve was meant to do blues clues-a natural! Irreplaceable. The original blue's clues are the ones worth watching!
I'm glad I never saw the episode where Steve left as a kid, that would've broke me
I am so glad to see him back
My 9th grade social studies teacher looked just like Steve, but the guy had a PhD so he was very smart.
So glad to see that Steve is doing well in life and still has positive connections to Blues Clues
I was born in 2002 and only ever saw Steve’s version of Blue’s Clues. Never realized I was watching reruns lol
Steve burns was a really cool guy and great blue's clues on Nick Jr and noggin great childhood memories
This video was so wholesome and heartwarming at the end
Miss Steve Burns.
Still hurts. Im glad he's happy bit i missed watching him and blue and then catching the next episode of mr. Rogers.
This brings back tons of memories as a 18 year old now in college I’m gonna miss the good old days
Who’s here after today’s video?
Well well well oh how the tables have turned
I hope he's found his happiness as I found mine when I was sitting calmly when watching the show
You know why you are here...
I went nuts seeing Steve guest at that first Blue's clues and You (new blue's clues) episode. That felt good
i love how he's living his life but still cares for Blue's Clues 🥺
The good old days I used to watch it when I was a toddler hardly remember those days I did remember Blue's Clues I wish I could go back don't we all
There’s more to the story.
But in glad to see it wasn’t drugs.
I love blues clues, and I’m 15! I don’t like the new guy, I miss Steve’s energy! He was so passionate about the show and I loved that about him! We need him back! I don’t think the kids that watch the show will care about his hair loss!
I am here after his new 25th anniversary video in their fb page.
If blue was a real dog, it would’ve made his departure way more emotional
3:23 I love that picture of all three live action hosts of Blue's Clues and Blue's Clues and You Steve Joe and Josh Lol 😆
Seeing him loose his hair on a pre school show would be traumatizing. I can definitely understand that (not the hair loss thing, i mean witnessing an bald adult on a fictional magical world tv show)
I’m glad he is at least a reoccurring role in the reboot
Today is the 25th anniversary, he released a video on nick jr, it’s worth the watch 😭
I didn't even watch blues clues when I was a kid and this is just sad
damn i remember back in the early 2000s watching this guy never saw full episodes just saw parts of them and left mid episode
Escuchar a Blue despedirse de Steve....es demasiado triste...por cierto soy un hombre de 41 años 😭😭😭
1:27 dieing of old age from just looking at this lol
Steve was my first heartbreak I was so confused when he left. I was like legit in denial and wondering “When is Steve coming back?” No offense to Joe u were great too.
I remember watching him as a kid
Steve was a high speed special forces operator! I will die on that hill!
He disappeared and returned when the US pulled out of Afghanistan.
He was out there taking Taliban scalps
I remember watching the show as a child in the late 2000s and very early 2010s, I wasm't able to keep up fully with the show but I'm glad it was part of my childhood before 2018 happened and I now feel like a 25 yr woman
This is my favorite show
when i found out Steve went to college on blue's clues that's how Joe came in the picture
Here after he posted his closure video
As a kid, I saw Steve’s time on the show, after he left, I never saw the episode where he left, so obviously I was confused when there was a different actor after a while
Losing his hair quickly at age 29? My hair started to fall out in my late teens, I shaved my head at 22
Wait a f-cking minute..
I WATCHED THIS DUDE PERFORM!!! HOLY SH-T!!!
Wait a minute... Blue's Clues Steve wrote the Young Sheldon theme song?
Come back Steve, look how they’ve ruined your show...
When I was sick the colors made me sicker overnight to that point where I threw up. The colors were green yellow and red cuz it was low quality
So his career has essentially come full circle. Neat.
My daughter loved the show so did my 2 older grandkids, my other grandkids didn’t get to see Steve, he had left the show by then
Love blue s clue s
To make a long story short, steve was balding, and he decided to leave the show.
And so did his head
@ahuman on earth he's bald
Who else is here after Steve made us cry telling us he's proud of us after so many years 😭

Well i didnt cry but i for sure was here because of that

well i did not miss him. Please read this correctly. I was today years old when I found out Steve performed the theme for Young Sheldon.
Right?! And the crazy thing is I watch Young Sheldon
So was I! LOL
Wait what
I never knew that, and now my inner child is crying tears of nostalgia & joy
Yeah!
I wonder if he's upset they put LGBT propaganda into a kids show now in the reboot.
He was wearing a pride flag cape...so probably not lmao, he’s also still involved.
Thankfully it wasn't anything negative that was the reason Steve left. It was his own decision

Damn blues gotta be old if he’s been around this show for 10+ years
@@lisabeckett7460 oh ok, I thought blue was boy cause the friend was pink. Well I had a look and the website said blue was age 2 (Human years) in the first episode and last time we saw her was 16th June 2020 so that would make her 23(Human Years), Which is very old for any dog breed the average age for any dog to make it 16 human years is a old dog so if she’s been around for 23 years (I’m counting all 3 shows since they’re all connected in terms of the timeline) bruh she’ll nearly be 200 in dog years.

My son now watches blues clues and you with Josh and he loves it
Oh I’ll never forget how sad my youngest daughter was when Steve left for college. I thought her heart would break.
as a person who loved, I mean *loved* blue's clues growing up. and someone who really struggles to accepting changes. steve leaving was awful for tiny me. and whenever I found out about blue's clues and you, I was slightly disappointed, how could they continue the show without steve??? and I just didn't watch it and avoided it as much as possible. whenever I was watching tv and eating dinner. it was on, so after all my time avoiding it, I decided to watch it. and honestly, it was good. I liked it, it definitely isn't a favorite because of josh. but it's obvious he has just as much passion steve did. and he is I have to say a wonderful singer.
Who's here after Steve's message for fans?
I'm 28 and I remember watching this show staring Steve, then Joe alot when I was little.
We both same age

starring* a lot*
Same. I'm also 28. I still preferred Steve over Joe though.
Same 🤘
0:26 this broke my heart :(
Me too, I remember that episode like it was yesterday. It was hard for me to get used to Joe because I thought he was an imposter back then. I also found it awkward how Steve hugged Blue in that scene when he was just hugging air.
Some say it’s just a KIDS show but no it’s so sad I may have not been born in the 90s or 2000s but I still wish he was still on the show 😭
Pow pow... 🥺
Pow pow :((
pow poe 🥺😢
The fact that he returned to the show after so long is so perfect. His character in the show came full circle
I'm nearing my late 20s but damn man, seeing Burns involved with the new show and bringing the spirit of it to a whole new generation, knowing that he's involved in its production and has played an adult version of his character in multiple episodes is making me hold back a couple tears. Love that photo of all three hosts from shortest to tallest with Burns crouching in the back, they all look like they're having the time of their life, the new show just seems very heartwarming. Him starting to lose his hair at 29 has me a bit worried about myself, heh, but hey if that were me I would have just started wearing wigs and kept rolling with the show a bit longer. It's awesome he's had such a great career after the original show, and it always makes me happy seeing people just embrace their roots, so many children's performers get needlessly self-conscious and go way out of their way to distance themselves. Not this guy though, and I really, really respect him for that.
Man I remember that episode of Young Sheldon but I had no idea that was Steve from Blue Clues at the time man has he changed so much
Same, I didn’t even recognized him
Same!
As a child I kept waiting for him to return.....
He never did 😭
In a way its wholesome knowing both Steve and Joe returned for cameos in the reboot series. Thats about as good to restart a series as it can get
Facts .
No joke, I burst into tears when I watched Steve Goes to College.
I grew up with reruns but i liked the show
Steve may have left the show, but at least he made an effort to make kids smile while it lasted
Not gonna lie.....I was crushing on Steve as a new mom in the 90's.
😂
😂
😂
ME TOO!
bruh
Not going to lie the new blues clues never feel the same for me but that make it fun to go relive my childhood with my siblings
Thank you so much for all the likes this is my most liked comment ever thank you to those people that liked
So basically my guy realized he was getting old bruh😂
Yeah my best friends father is completely bald he has been that way ever since he was 29 when he first started to bald some people loss hair so early while my 80 year old grandma still has most of her hair hasn’t lost much hair
He was in his 20s so no...
nope
The series made me what I am today. We already know why Steve left the show, but out of all of the seasons of Blue's Clues, I consider the first four seasons the golden age of the series. The Joe era, while not terrible, is more childish.
Joe is an 8.5/10 and Steve was a 10/10. They were smart trying not to replace Steve with a new actor and giving a new character instead.
At least he didn’t smear blues clues name with Pride Bull crap.
homophobia
Who’s here after watching Steve’s video
Me!!
I won't let my kids watch this anymore they are disgusting what they are doing now on there
Just watched the whole video of him saying goodbye I still dropped a tear lmao idk why it hits to hard
An inspiring lad, no doubt.
"Moving on" is only natural, but the passion he had, as well as the will to reappear, much later, in a show which in a sense, molded him, is truly an inspiring tale. For tonight, I think I shall indulge myself, with Steve Burns' musical endeavors, for a source of inspiration, whilst working~
he could of just wore a wig
Have you ever worn a wig? Even without hair loss, he was still aging. I can’t imagine spending my life doing a kids show, he wasn’t Mr. Rogers, naturally, it wasn’t his life.
First of all, it’s could HAVE. Second of all, he just felt that it was time for him to leave because he was getting older.
That’s awesome that he went back to Blues clues even just to be a guest. How cute. Glad he is doing ok. I remember those rumors that he died back then- horrible.
Takes me back when I saw those old clips of him being on the show🥺. Good luck Steve!
Hair lost at the age of 29? He so young
It was the stress of the show.(It is OK if you already know)
@@jaywright524 ok
@@jaywright524 what?
Hair loss typically starts at that age if you have the balding genes
At the time I found out Joe would be taking Steve’s place, I was going to miss Steve, but I accepted it soon enough, and I’m glad he still has a good amount to do with the show nowadays.
Huh. I was just talking to my mom about Blues Clues yesterday and wondering where the original guy went..my phone must be listening 0.0
steve is a sweet soul, but honestly I liked how the show looked back in the 90's and early 2000's, it looks way to animated now and kids who where born in the late 2000's won't experience the true magic of blues clues.
Lol, that was so weird when Steve hugged Blue at 0:29. Just broke the forth wall at all levels.
Wow you have no clue what that term means. Every time Steve talked to you he was breaking the fourth wall
Blue has since gone off the rails. Too progressive and no longer kid friendly.
He just put a video out saying we are all still friends and he's proud of us
Steve would not allow that pride stuff to happen
Anyone here after the 25 year message?
I'm glad it wasn't drugs.
Steve was my favorite! Seeing him leave was such an expresso depresso time, but Joe did great as well. I'm happy to hear Steve went on and did some great things for himself. I always figured he actually did go to college lol
My son, now 27, he loved Blues Clues.
Blues Clues was my childhood, I thank Steve for it
All three hosts of the Blue's Clues get along and made an episode together.
Now that's something you don't see in most TV shows.
I started noticing my hair is thinning when i was 21. I panicked and started taking care of my hair. Using all sorts of medication and a diet that helps hair loss reduction.
I’m in my 40’s and still have hair albeit thin. But married and two kids, i really don’t care about it anymore.
Its bc he was always on acid bc he had to talk to a salt shaker and a magic talking dog and jumping into books and shit he didn't go to college he went to rehab
I love Steve! As a kid I loved him sooo much.. I did miss him when he went away, but personally I think Joe was the perfect person to continue with Blue. Joe is my favorite, but both are awesome!
