There is an episode of the new blues clues where the new guy calls up Steve and Joe to ask for help with his current clue. At first this moment is nothing more than a cute cameo, then steve asks "hey do you mind if I talk to my friend for a moment". The mood gets a little more personal and the phone is oriented to face the screen. Steve then directly speaks to us like he always did, engaging with us and waiting for our response. Asking us to help the new guy like we helped him. I fucking instantly burst into tears. Its such a personal moment designed to engage with those that grew up with him. Maybe parents watching this new show with their kids would see that and be affected. Steve will always and forever be our friend.

Blues clues taught me that two triangles can make a square or rectangle.
That means that two things can come together to create something greater. Two Ideas, two strengths, two friends, two brothers, etc. It taught me that just because one thing does not work, it could mean that its the only ingredient in this recipe. It could be needing something else to be able to function greater.

This video made me cry like a baby. I couldn’t put into words what Steve and Blue’s Clues meant to me. Even today as an adult, I feel comfort from it. Just hearing and seeing Steve Burns talk makes me happy inside. In a weird way, I guess. I just.. Steve was my best friend. When he went to college, I was happy for him but sad it was over. I didn’t realize it could end. Hell, I was that kid going around talking to furniture thinking everything had a sentience. I was overly nice to everyone. I had friends at school that we would pretend we had Blue or Magenta with us. Thank you, Steve. With you and Blue, I felt like I really could do anything.

Can we please talk about how blue's clues teaches ASL? Didn't know that? Watch what Steve (or Joe or Josh even) does when he says "blue's clues" "think" or "smart" depending on the host/episode and "thanks". All of those are ASL signs! Teaching young children ASL is very important, it gives them other ways of communication that parents/caretakers can understand as well, beyond just spoken and written words! Josh even does nick jr. social media campaigns with "blues clues asl signs of the week"

Although this episode was the saddest moment, the most saddest moment was actually Fred Rogers Goodbye Speech that aired at the end of 2002 because one year after the speech, he passed away on February 27th, 2003. Although he was loved by everyone in the world, his goal wasn't achieved. Because even after his death, the world doesn't change. The US-led Coalition invade Iraq, the Afghan War continues to this very day, Libya, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen collapsed into Civil War, it seems like the world doesn't changed. Fred Rogers wanted the world into a better life. Which means he just wanted the world to end those bloodshed. If Fred Rogers lives longer, he would be totally disappointed when he sees the world today.

I was in first or second grade when Steve left the show, and I remember, while talking about the change with some friends at lunchtime, one of my friends started to cry. When we asked her if it was because she was gonna miss Steve, she said no, it was because her parents were getting divorced. It seemed out of left field then, but now I wonder if talking about the smaller change (the loss of Steve) poked at the bruise of a much bigger one. Idk, just a thought.

Similar to Stephen Hillenburg leaving Spongebob after the first movie. Spongebob's considered slapstick/physical humor: Laughs came from characters getting hurt. But many iconic jokes are in the show and nobody was injured. After he left, people forgot about that: Instead of slapstick, characters are just getting hurt in stupid ways, but it's not funny anymore. It's isn't the same without you, Stephen (1961-2018).

@@CaptainTittus Actually, it has nothing to do with living in a reality or not. My therapist actual brought up parasocial relationships to me, because I grow that type of attachment easily with youtubers & celebrities(or the characters they play) that I relate to in one way or another.
If someone let's it get out of hand, that's when you get creepy obsessed people, who take it to far (stalking, finding phone numbers, ect.) But for people who don't let it get out of hand, it's a way that gives comfort or a sense of friendship.
This happens most frequently with people who feel lonely, weither it's because they were emotionally neglected, or they never felt like they could find people who they related too, ect.
That is typically the reason why people get so attached to people they follow on the internet, or watch on TV. Again, it's dangerous if it gets out of hand, but for most, it's a sense of comfort. Especially in this day and age where many people feel isolated (not just cause covid).
Sorry for the long reply, just wanted to get my thought out there.

Same. The community center I work at had 2 receptionists who were very sweet, very intelligent, and they made me feel better about my self when I was down. I usually don’t like making friends at workplaces if only because of connections with the workplaces exist. Specifically, I work for my hometown’s local govt. It’s a city govt job, it’s more shite than your typical local govt, over 80% of the employees are miserable, incompetent, or both. I still don’t like that certain employees (dept heads, city officials, etc.) know who I am as that guy whose parents are city employees.
But it was through working there that I discovered it wasn’t all bad. The 2 receptionists gave me a little bit of hope that things will get better.
And then, within a month of each other, they moved on with their lives by quitting their jobs at the center.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for them, wish the best and all, and hope they have a good life. But I miss them and miss having them there because they made me laugh in my dark times.
Things change. That doesn’t always mean they will be better, but things do change.
