Rewatching some of this guy’s amazing videos and remembered I made this stupid thing.
it's interesting that Samantha Kelly's first time voicing Peach was in Mario Strikers Charged because I swear when Peach drops from the sky it sounds like she says "Princess Bitch"
Judging from the vid, I imagine it went something like this... "What are we going to do? We need to replace Jen and Leslie isn't returning our calls." "Hey, you know Nicole kinda sounds like her." "Does she? Nicole, get over here!" Nicole: "What do you need?" "You do sound like Jen! Nicole we need you to voice Peach!" Nicole: "...okay?"
Nicole: Hi, I'm here for the-- Nintendo: The Peach audition? Great! Nicole: I-I was gonna say the internship. Nintendo: We'll give you all the intern credits you need! Nicole: I'm in.
This may not be such a surprise to anyone (especially if you noticed at 12:01 ) but Jen Taylor is also the voice of Toad... which is a funny contrast in tone honestly. She goes from being the sweet, soft spoken Princess, to the Toadstool that has no inside voice whatsoever 😂
She also voiced Daisy in Mario Party 3, 4 and 5, while Toad pretty much sounds the same with Samantha Kelly making their voice, the shift on how Daisy sounds is in two ends of the spectrum pretty much.
The difference between early and modern Peach at the beginning just sounded like different excitement levels, making it hard to hear the differences in her actual voice.
Same here, the short one-syllable yell is not nearly enough to hear much difference beyond a slightly higher pitch maybe. That could reasonably be the same voice actress with better audio quality.
Honestly, with the context that this was just a random translator, it makes me laugh a little bit, I guess I'm a fan of Leslie, specially since they translated link to the past of all things
@@boredomisinfinity5642 With Mario Kart 64 the voices for Luigi and Wario also came from translation staff. It was common practice during that era of games to use non professional voice actors
well they just picked staff members back in the day for most characters but Mario. Luigi, Wario, Peach, Toad and even creatures like Yoshi, Birdo, Shy guy etc got their voices first from Nintendos localization staff members until Charles took over all the plumbers and they got Jen for Peach and later even Daisy for some games. Shy guys, Boos, Yoshis and etc continue to be voiced by normal staff members, it wasnt just a Peach thing really.
Most game devs don’t have a life because they can’t. Games are hard to make. Takes a lot of time and effort. They hardly got time to meet other people. So yeah easiest solution was people in the office.
As perfectionist as Nintendo are, they would have to record those same lines hundreds if not thousands of times to get the right take, and not only does that take time, it's hard on the actor to keep doing the same voice for hours at a time, and that's all just for the lines that make it into games that get released. There are way more lines that get written and recorded but the content related to the lines get cut or changed during development, and there are also the games that get cancelled so the recorded lines never get used at all. Voice recording isn't just going into a recording booth for five minutes, doing a couple "Hellos," "Here we goes," and "MAAAAARIOOOOOOOS"...
@@mouthshovel Depends on the contract and what kind of royalties and residuals they agree to. Most of the time, smart actors do have that put into their contract but some dumb ones will sell the company what is basically a sound font pack and never see another payment from their work.
4:37 That voice is perfect. Natural & smooth, not trying too hard. 5:46 Cute... She sounds like BMO or Lady Rainicorn from Adventure Time. 6:18 Sounds like a mother spoonfeeding her child. 7:20 Sounds like Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls.
It's because they have to record the same lines over and over and over until they get the perfect ones, then script changes can happen meaning they have to repeat the process. Sometimes voice actors get called back to re-record lines if the directors of the games decide they want it said slightly differently, etc. Since voice acting is never a one-and-done situation, and life can be hectic, Nintendo would need someone who can be available almost whenever. Also have to consider travel time if they don't live very close by a recording studio and would need to show up multiple different days. Not every line that gets recorded is used, so there is a ton more work that no one really sees- or hears, rather- so we can't really know the exact amount of work that goes into it all *shrugs*
Fun fact I got to meet the Mario voice actor at this winter wonderland thingy in Sacramento CA and his booth was desolate. Nobody around the dude just him alone in a little red booth with framed pictures of his characters lmao

Find it kinda charming that Jen Taylor voiced a beautiful kind princess as Princess Peach and then a few years later in 2013, to play a scary immortal villain role
I think peach was the only major role where she did not turn evil,go mad or get possessed by something Evil unlike both Cortana and Salem who turned evil/went mad.

@@LyokoisGreat2 what about Paper Mario TTYD And Paper Mario origami king? Didn't peach get possessed/evil there?

i can’t get enough of the fact that windows 10 technically has a bit of princess peach inside it. wonderful
Told my friend/babysitter that. He loves halo so princess peach is now his new favorite character lol.
I'm a voice actor and it's rare to see people give credit to former voice actors who helped craft the ideal voice for the character. Thank you for acknowledging them ❤️ even if a person doesn't voice a character anymore, it doesn't mean their influence hasn't left a mark.
Nintendo: "Wanna watch us have Leslie temporarily voice Peach?"
Nintendo: "Wanna see us do it again?"
Is nobody gonna talk about how good Nicole Mills’ lines were for someone who has no prior background in voice acting ??
RIGHT
IKR THAT WAS SO GOOD
To me they had more emotion than the others (In my opinion)

Who needs education via online school when you can learn about Princess Peach’s voice?!
Edit: the funny thing is, right after making this comment, I immediately went back to class. Hey, Princess Peach’s voice is cool and all, but getting good grades on science is also pretty nice.

it's interesting that Samantha Kelly's first time voicing Peach was in Mario Strikers Charged because I swear when Peach drops from the sky it sounds like she says "Princess Bitch"
That is hilarious! 😂
LOOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!
@@Haley_the_Arson_Queen Just like Jack Black song
Wait, how did a college student with zero voice acting training land the role of voicing a major Nintendo character for several games?
And how did it sound good??
Judging from the vid, I imagine it went something like this...
"What are we going to do? We need to replace Jen and Leslie isn't returning our calls."
"Hey, you know Nicole kinda sounds like her."
"Does she? Nicole, get over here!"
Nicole: "What do you need?"
"You do sound like Jen! Nicole we need you to voice Peach!"
Nicole: "...okay?"
Ask Kojima he has your answers
Nicole: Hi, I'm here for the--
Nintendo: The Peach audition? Great!
Nicole: I-I was gonna say the internship.
Nintendo: We'll give you all the intern credits you need!
Nicole: I'm in.
Yeah like sis, drop a tutorial omg 😳
This may not be such a surprise to anyone (especially if you noticed at 12:01 ) but Jen Taylor is also the voice of Toad... which is a funny contrast in tone honestly. She goes from being the sweet, soft spoken Princess, to the Toadstool that has no inside voice whatsoever 😂
And so the pokemon evolves into … SALEM! She breaks windows with anger screem
She also voiced Daisy in Mario Party 3, 4 and 5, while Toad pretty much sounds the same with Samantha Kelly making their voice, the shift on how Daisy sounds is in two ends of the spectrum pretty much.
If they ever do a Mario 64 remake, it would be cool to have Leslie swan voicing Peach again
just spent 16:02 minutes of my life learning about princess peachs’ voice and i am not disappointed
is that a tohru icon
YOu didn't even count the coments under the video you spent or wasted time reading.
The difference between early and modern Peach at the beginning just sounded like different excitement levels, making it hard to hear the differences in her actual voice.
Both sound like they could be the same voice actress imo
@@marmadon6341 agreed
Nah, I could tell the difference in all of them.
Yeah, that wasn't his best editing moment :/
Same here, the short one-syllable yell is not nearly enough to hear much difference beyond a slightly higher pitch maybe. That could reasonably be the same voice actress with better audio quality.
Leslie Swan *reads email*
“I guess I’m voicing Peach again” 😂
I think she's a good Peach VA
She gives peach a more mature voice
@@MistyLose feels more real, less of a caricature.
Best Peach voice ever.

@@Schwarzorn I’m pretty sure that she voices wendy
Yeah you can hear it at 12:00 in the video
R.I.P to those poor vocal cords.
It’s almost like employees who did peach’s early voice were the only women the game devs knew
It is in fact typical of game devs to only know a handful of women
well they just picked staff members back in the day for most characters but Mario.
Then when it comes to the golf games, now is the time to bring in professionals
Most game devs don’t have a life because they can’t. Games are hard to make. Takes a lot of time and effort. They hardly got time to meet other people. So yeah easiest solution was people in the office.

How tf is voice acting for Princess Peach a full time job? A couple of "Hellos," "Here we goes," and "MAAAAARIOOOOOS" lasts Nintendo like 10 years
As perfectionist as Nintendo are, they would have to record those same lines hundreds if not thousands of times to get the right take, and not only does that take time, it's hard on the actor to keep doing the same voice for hours at a time, and that's all just for the lines that make it into games that get released.
@@Dargonhuman also don't they have to pay voice actors for everything their voice appears in?
@@mouthshovel Depends on the contract and what kind of royalties and residuals they agree to. Most of the time, smart actors do have that put into their contract but some dumb ones will sell the company what is basically a sound font pack and never see another payment from their work.

I love Leslie Swan's voice as Princess Peach. Sounded slightly deeper and more regal 👸
Somehow I can't believe voicing Peach takes so much time to neglect other jobs or hobbies... 🤣🙈
Right, I definitely think they could do all the lines in a day lol
Lol y'all out here just saying you don't respect the amount of time and effort voice acting takes 🤣
