Underrated video. Got a new bike and this explains a lot. I have a pinched nerve in my neck on the right side. I can move my head just fine but it’s sore. I noticed after 30 minutes of riding tho my right hand and forearm start to get numb. I raise my arm over my head for a couple minutes and it’s a lot better temporarily.
Really informative video. Hand numbness has come back to me with my newest bike, so I was looking for insights. The new geometry of mountain bikes is so different and I am not sure my old measurements are relevant any more. So, just looking to understand the basics, and Kevin explains them quite well.
I’ve a Specialized Sirrus X 3.0 and the bars are over 700mm wide, they put the longest flat bars available on these bikes so I’m off to have my shoulder width measured and the bars cut down. It’s an XL size and apart from the road buzz and numb hands it’s a nice bike.
Hi there. Great explanation. Just started back with xc mountain biking after 9 years. I have numbness on the exactly 3 fingers thumb, index and middle fingers. Those possible causes I also suspected lol. I will try these. Thanks for informing
I'm having to tune my new Carrera Hellcat, I was getting some numbness in my hands but having adjusted the seat height and angle already, i'm now thinking i'll have to get an adjustable handlebar bracket. The seat is as far back as it will allow and my riding position still feels like i'm hunched up due to the stubby handlebar bracket the bike was supplied with.
I think this is exactly what I have . Just learned how to bike yesterday and today like I can’t type on my keyboard with my left hand that well my grip feels weak .
@moisesherrera6489 it sucks. I think part of the problem is that I grip the handlebars to tight. Got a messed up knee and broken rib from my hand slipping off once, so now I hold tight
Are e-bikes responsible for more numbness due to aluminum frames (increased vibration), increased weight (increased vibration or impact?) or longer average rides because of electric assist?
Definitely good point about handlebar width. Ive found when it comes to tuning up flat-bar builds the hacksaw is your best friend.

A very informative & helpful video, thanks!
I think this also speaks to the heavily performance oriented US bike market.
Great points very helpful.

Great video massive thanks for all valuable information
So helpful! Thank you. /
This is a great video! I have been struggling with this each time I ride. Core strength 💪 ❤️
Insightful. Ty

Ive never had numbness but i have hand cramps. Where my fingers get tight and hard to move, and pain. But isnt constant, it comes and goes
