Thank you we need more simple instruction help like these.
I started doodling on a tablet but after a while I found myself seeing those loops and swirls in my head even when I wasn’t doodling!🤪
😂😂 Thanks so much for watching!
Brody, I love your oblong loops and swirls! I prefer those to attempting to make a circle and failing. Besides, everyone else does circles, I want to be me. God bless all y'all!
Exactly!! 😀😀 You've got to give it your own style!! Thanks so much for watching and God bless you as well!
This was just what I have been looking for, Thanks Brody.
So glad it was helpful!
Nice video. I love to practice free motion on fabric panels for my young grandkids. Trust me, a 4-year-old doesn't care about the quilting ... they just love the picture. And when you feel comfortable make different designs in different sections, it's like doodling. Try to follow the swirls on a Disney Princess's hair or make large "puffs" of smoke from Thomas Train's choo-choo, make spiderwebs for Spiderman! Write their names in cursive in the sky (Draw it first - plan how you'll dot the "i" and cross the "t") It's a lot of fun.
(I do this on my 'lil $100 domestic machine - just drop the feed dogs and raise the tension)
Such awesome ideas!! I'm sure your grandkids love that!! Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for watching! Kelly is a great teacher! It was a great time quilting with her!
What I loved about this video is the over the shoulder viewing vantage point as she explained what she was doing. She was showing what we see when standing there trying to figure out our moves.

Thanks for this video. I have a table runner and wasn't sure how to finish it. Now I'm going to practice some meandering then do it on my runner!
Awesome!! Thanks for watching! Happy quilting!
Brody you did an awesome job for the first time. Your a Natural..
Thank you so much!! Pretty good for a beginner! 😂
I just started practicing on my first quilt with my new long arm machine! Thank you for this demonstration. It made it a lot less intimidating seeing a beginner as well. He did really great at those loops. I’m going to try some of these designs on my quilt!
Wonderful! We're confident that you'll do great :)
I’ve had a long arm for 9 years. I’m still intimidated, so much, that I put off the quilting. Therefore I have lots and lots of quilts just waiting. Lol. I’m gonna do it, though. This video has helped so much. Thanks
Brody, you did so good!
Thank you!! Improving!! 😊😊
Great video! Very informative and helpful. Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching! We are so glad the video was helpful! Happy quilting!
So far my choice is usually loops. I just like the way they look.
They are a lot of fun to do! Thanks for watching!
Really like this! Will watch for more like this.
We are glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
I laid out a paper pantograph on sewing area. I have many of these. Leaving machine turned off, I traced over and over and over…found it very helpful.
Wow Brody you are good at that!
It was a lot of fun to practice! Thanks so much for watching!
Love this video, so helpful!
We are so glad it was helpful! Such great techniques from a fabulous teacher! Thanks Kelly!
Wow! That swirl looks very difficult. I think I will start with the loops! 😊
🙌❤ Baby steps!! Thanks for watching!
Yay Kelly and Brody !!
Thanks so much for watching!! 👍😊
I watched the sewing channel today and she was showing how to do feathers and stippling. It was so neat because she made a sandwich with a plastic vinyl top and didn’t use a needle. She used markers she’s stuck to a machine you’ll have to check it out it’s called the sewing channel.
You should see all the tablets I've gone through practicing swirls and quilting designs. It's all about the muscle memory and when it clicks it's like magic!! You did great & I really enjoyed watching this. Great tips!! Please do this again.
Thank you so much for watching! We are so glad you enjoyed it! We hope to make more similar videos soon. Happy quilting!
I love Kelly Ashton! She is an amazing quilter. I struggle with swirls
We love Kelly too! She is such a great quilter and instructor. Swirls are difficult.Keep practicing! We're sure they look great!🙌🥰
Very helpful video. Loops are definitely easier for me, than meandering or swirls.Wishbones are also very easy to do.
We're so glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!😀 🧵🪡
Absolutely!
👍👍 Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Very helpful!!
Thanks so much for watching! We are so glad it was helpful! Happy quilting!
I purchased a good sized blackboard to practice my designs on. It took months before I finally tried swirls on an actual quilt. Remember, your not perfect and your quilting won’t be perfect either. But it’s always better to have a finished quilt than a perfect one. Practicing will improve your skills though. I found using cheap fleece to be perfect for practicing as well. You don’t have to go through the pain of loading a top, middle and backing. Just load the fleece and have at it!
Thanks, love the content 💕
We are so glad! Thanks so much for watching!
I love the meandering quilt pattern
It was a lot of fun to practice! Thanks so much for watching!
Go Brody go!
👍😀😀
Go Brody. The one arm bandit 😀
😂😂😂 Thanks for watching!
At least you had the ASR (automatic stitch regulator) on.
On my home sewing machine I don’t have that, so my stitch length varies
Just keep practicing!
Go Kelly!
She's amazing! Thanks for watching!
I recently bought a longarm and I identified with him. We need to practice a lots more 😅😢
😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Hope to do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
Yay Brody
😂👍
Hi there. Just discovered your channel. Fun and fantastic! Great info. Do you have the name of the pattern and fabric for the quilt on the end (right side) beside the red and white quilt? Pretty please!
Hello! This was filmed at HandiQuilter and that was one of their patterns. We apologize we don't have that information! Thanks so much for watching! We hope you can join us again soon!
thank you for the lesson!! For those of us who do not have access to a large quilt machine, can you show us the same techniques on a home sewing machine?? Would be much appreciated!!
Great idea for another video! Thanks for watching!
I feel like the hard thing as a beginner is what to do when I get stuck. Just use practice pieces as dog kennel liners or make casserole totes. Takes time to train the brain!
So true and great ideas! Thanks for watching!
Can you show us the same thing on a standard sewing machine rather than a quilting machine like that?😊
I’m interested in the chevron quilt behind this video. Is there a pattern for it?
If I had that machine I could do it to.😅
😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Will do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
Do you use the regulator while free motion?
Yes!
I have essential tremors so doing it on paper won't work. What do you recommend?
No worries! You can practice on fabric just using scraps or whatever works for you. You'll get the hang of it and quickly see what works best for your style of quilting. Thanks so much for watching and we hope you can join us again soon 🎈😊
Sew yea
Thanks so much for watching!
can i do this with just my sewing machine i have many tops lol
Thanks so much for watching! You can give us a call at 702-586-8687 and we would be happy to discuss machines that have these functions!
What thread did you use?
The thread used was provided by Handi Quilter. We usually use Aurifil or Isacord. Both are fantastic brands! Thank you for watching!
His loops look like mine. Well his are a little better. I do meander better…lol. And, that’s about all I do.
I do this and this is not easy! I worked forever to build muscle memory.
So true! It takes a lot of practice! Thanks so much for watching! We hope you enjoyed the video! 🙌
It's Okay to crack up laughing but I thought you just needed to put a USB in the machine with a pattern on it, turn it on and come back when it was all quilted with a beautiful pattern. Guess not hu.
These designs are just free motion, or free hand but you can do set designs as well. We also made a live Handi Quilter video that goes into more detail about the machines. You can find that here: ruclips.net/video/ubcJY6j9OH8/видео.html Thanks so much for watching!
I personnally think those are too dense for my taste. I do what I call "world map stipple" much bigger and spread appart.
Thank you for watching! We love how stippling can be tailored to the individual like Kelly said! We love the "world map stipple" style as well. Thanks again!
I tried to free motion quilt with my sewing machine and I SUCKED. Longarming terrifies me.
I myself design the traditional Nakshikantha of Bangladesh, our Nakshikantha here is all hand stitched and very beautiful stitched.
Since I design myself, I have no need for sewing machine designs. I would draw the leafy flower design on the fabric myself with a pen and sew it on the sewing machine using only free thread. So please tell me which machine will be good for me in low budget.
Thank you ❤
