  • Hands down Aputure has made my new favorite LED panel, the Amaran P60c and Amaran p60x! While these panels take on traditional sizes, they really pack a punch and can be a very handy part of your lighting kit! Thank you to ‪@PERGEAR‬ for sending out these review units.

    Thanks for breaking down the recommendation by use case. For the home studio, leaning toward the Amaran 100D, and not the 60D because of the stronger mount on the 100D.

      Makes sense! I haven't gotten to play with the 100 and 200 models yet. I have tested my 47" bowens softbox on the Amaran 60d with the included mount and it did hold. Not sure the long term affects though.

    This was awesome, I like the short and the long video formats! Certainly got me thinking of getting the p60c now, I've been holding back for some time on expanding my kit since covid has really held me back on investing in my kit. ... Now I'll just wait for someone to offer me Aputure gear

      Hey hey again Neil!
      Glad you're enjoying the double option I am experimenting with, needs some fine tuning depending on the product. The P60c really surprised me, I thought it was going to be in the vicinity of the HR672c that I reviewed a couple years back but its nearly 3-4 times brighter. It's definitely got me wondering if I could use more of these types of lights for work versus a dominantly COB kit. I'll be testing out some ideas here soon to see.

      @@TLDR_filmmaker That's great, I'm not sure what other commenters request or ask for but I loved the old format "where the answers come first and the answers come after". I've been improvising since I first saw your video on the Neewer 660, when I was thinking back then I needed it. I have been doodling since, I made a baking tin LED light for under 20 bucks (for home use) that has its problems but not willing to upgrade until I'm in a position to make the move. 🙂

      Hey hey Comic Con News!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      If you are talking strictly in terms of a LED Panel style lights only, the new Amaran f22c is slightly better since it does not use lensed LED diodes that focus the light. So if you're looking to flood an area, I would choose that one. Afterwards you are going into the expensive professional territory with their Aputure p300c or p600c and their new LS600c Pro.
      If color is the only thing you're after and no so much the bi-color aspects. The cheapest route is to a high power COB led light and purchase a pack of color gels.
      Of course in the end it really depends on how you plan to use the LED whether you're in a setup studio or on the go and on the fly. Hope some of these ideas help!

    Thank you so much for your review, i liked that you actually shared more useful info compared to other reviewers. Im actually considering to get this or the amaran t4c tube light or the nanlite ii 30C (not the x). Would love your input on this if you have these two tube lights vs the p60c in terms of 5600k output and rgb output

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  Год назад +2

      Hey hey again Lauren!
      In terms of 5600k output the P60c will blast the tubes out of the water by a huge margin. Same with Color. The main difference is how even the flood of colors are. This is a dance between how far is the color light away from the wall you want to blast colors on.
      If you the colored lights are close to the wall, the tube will do a better job throwing colors at it. If the light can be farther away from the wall, the P60c will do a better job because of its power.
      When it comes to RGB lights in general, you want to get far away from your background, around 5-6 feet. so that your light has a chance to flood it evenly. You then also need to make sure your keylight does not hit the back wall all that much so that the colors can come through. If the background is too bright from the keylight, the RGB colors won't come through as well.
      Hope this all makes sense.

      I appreciate you still watching as I experiment with a new format. My goal is to make the TLDR portion more encompassing with more context so that people can get what they need. In doing so, I want to give people the choice of saying "nah I'm good, moving on" and for the few who like the editorial can immediately just click the end card and move onto that video.
      Not all videos will be like this, only the longer ones that have a long editorial. If a review only needs less than 5 minutes, like a travel case, those are just one video.
      I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this experiment!

    @TLDR Filmmaker. First I have to tell you that your channel is awesome. You are super clear on everything you present! I am looking to shoot one person interviews with doctors. I will be most likely in rooms with ambient overhead lighting. Is the P60C overkill and will I be ok with the supplied soft box and grid or will I still need to shoot through a 5 in 1 reflector? I was also looking at the Lumecube Studio Panel Light set, which includes 2 10” panels. Please let me know your thoughts… Mitch

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  Год назад

      Hey hey Mitchell!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
      In my opinion you will want to shoot it through a reflector instead of the small softbox that it comes with. The reason is because the softbox really kills the output of the light and it may not overpower the overhead lights that easily. That being said you may want to look into a 60w COB LED light that can be battery powered and hook up a bowens 20+ inch softbox to it. It'll be cheaper and an easier quick setup up that still gives you a nice soft keylight. I've done a review here on various 60w cobs. The two I like the most is the Amaran for price with a full bowens mount and the Godox ML60 for battery life (though you'll need to but the Bowens adaptor)

      Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
      Glad you enjoyed this review! As for how it compares against the Nanlite LED Tubes. These are going to be much brighter than the nanlite Tubes. The tubes are more of fun practical lights that you can in the actual frame of your video and they do have some nice portable uses like I demonstrate with other 4ft tubes: ruclips.net/video/E8FKsalS808/видео.html
      But if power is what you need, these panels will fit the bill, in theory it should be 3-4 times brighter.

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  11 месяцев назад

      The P60c would definitely be more beneficial compared to the Pavotubes as someones first light. Mainly because it has a lot more power allowing you to have more control of your cameras exposure in a variety of situations. That being said Amaran just came out with the 150c which is a great option if you know you never need to run off of battery power. You can use battery power for the 150c but you will need to purchase the Aputure power station accessory. The advantage of the 150c is that you can easily use bowens softboxes if you find the need to make soft light. The P60c you will need to set up a diffusion curtain if you want to get soft light.

      Hey hey Timothy!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
      The P60c will be brighter compared to the 60xS. The difference is how you plan to use the lights. WIth the panel, if you want a soft light, you will have to setup a diffusion curtain. The 60xS will only needs a quick bowens softbox and you're on your way. Thats just for normal white light. If you are in need of color too, the P60c will be versatile for you there.
      Long story short, you may need both lights depending on what you need for your videos.

    Could you add a segment showing the differences in brightness from 0% to 1% to 2%? Some lights have a large jump in brightness near 1%, and very little change near 99%.

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  2 года назад

      Hey hey Vproducer062!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      I can test these ideas in future video review, unfortunately it doesn't make sense for me to make one about it now. However I can tell you that there was little chance when going from 1% to 2%, I feel this Amaran uses a S-curve style dimming instead of Linear.
      As for going from 0% to 1% the brightness is going to determine how you're actually using the light whether it is close or far from a subject. If its a close, then the brightness at 1% may seem "too much". If it's further from the subject, it may be just right. Theres not really a good way I can explain what the 1% looks like as going from pitch black to suddenly having light is always going to look jarring.
      Hope some of this information helps for your needs.

    Is the p60x worth the $50~ more vs the 60x with an NP adapter?

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  2 года назад +2

      Hey hey TRIFLIX Team!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      In opinion as it stands, yes the p60x is worth the extra $50 over the 60x with the included NPF adaptor and heres why. While my review on the 60x/d isn't out yet. The 60x is very persnickety with what NPF batteries you use, they have to maintain a certain output, the moment it drops below it the light will turn off. I used the same batteries as you saw in these battery tests and the 60x would stay on for 2-3 minutes while the p60x was able to go for 25-30 minutes.
      The p60x is also much brighter than the 60x.
      The only main difference you have to ask yourself is, did you plan to use a bowens mount modifier for your setups. If not and you are fine shooting light through a diffusion curtain, then the p60x makes more sense in my opinion.
      Long story short, the 60x is actually a great light, but the moment you know you want to use it with batteries, it's not well suited without buying very expensive NPF or V-mount batteries or just using a Solar camping generator. If you know you need to have battery power at a 60w output I would suggest looking at either the Godox ML60bi. ruclips.net/video/a7R_i2cwYWQ/видео.html
      It is more expensive, but they can use generic NPF batteries no problem. It also comes with a much better carrying case and has good Smart Phone App functionalities similar to the Sidus Link on the aputure.
      Hope this helps!

      Hey hey Chuen!

      The Amaran p60 series would be much brighter than the Godox FL100 because of their lensed LED diode design. In terms of youtubers both would technically be more than bright enough for a indoor setup. The P60 series will have more wiggle room if you plan to really diffuse it to get the softest light possible. If you want something quick and dirty with a built on softbox add'on. The Godox FL100 would be a nice set.

      Hey hey ΕΥΘΥΜΙΑ ΜΗΛΟΠΟΥΛΟΥ!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
      I agree that the mount could be better, for now I haven't quite ran into the problem having them high up and at an angle, I think I must have really tightened it down.
      As for the battery life, I show this in the TLDR video and I got the same battery life as you with two large generic NPF batteries. However this is to be expected compared to the budget LED panels that can last up to 2-5 hours as they are using significantly less powered LED diodes compared to the p60c. I'm just glad that the Amaran Panels don't have the same problems with NPF batteries as the 60d and 60x.
      I would love to see a 3rd party company like Neewer or Andycine to develop a yoke for this panel and possibly a D-tap to the AC plug. I have a feeling the 2nd edition won't be coming for approx 4-5 years based on Aputure's design releases, so there could definitely be a chance for other companies to jump in to help the weakness. We'll see! Otherwise for my use cases, having panels at these levels of brightness and size makes it much easier for me to light a lot of different setups without the need to bring a ton of expensive grip gear.

As for the battery in events i choose to run it with mains and because 2 NP-970 add to the weight and only outside(in a photo session) with battery.
