Sorry for the mistake. Price is $1999 USD not $2999. $2999 is the CAD price. Thanks for watching!
Man, I was shocked seeing that price at first 😂
@@Skylinez999 haha I gave a few people a heart attack
@MatthewMoniz lmao you've great sense of humor 🤣
When I saw the price I thought Asus was crazy. $2999 CAD before taxes...is still pretty high.
@@HH-dv5gr Still don't understand why Americans talk consumer prices before taxes...
its like a zephyrus and a zenbook had a baby
For double the price 🤑
Zepbook
Zephyrus and MacBook
It is a zephyrus…
How is it double the price? It's the same price as last year's g14 and is even $100 cheaper than last year's zenbook pro 14 OLED.
I like the all-metal minimalist design. Asus are on the right track, not only with their laptops, but also with their phones.
Finally took a page out of Razer's book. Unfortunately seems like they are starting to copy their price model as well.
i work in amd sticker R&D department and that color cost us around 6.3 billion dollars and roughly 3 year of research
I follow the sticker industry very closely and was shocked that AMD got the cost down to below 8 billion.
Honestly this is such a fun bit of information to know
why making these stickers are so costly
Not true. Greetings
💀
When the base model goes on sale for from 1899$ to 1349$ I'll be buying one definitely
Isn't the base model $1599?
@@MM-zo7q yeah right, then its gonna be even cheaper when on sale
@@MM-zo7q That's the 4060 model, the base model is the 4050 and haven't even seen the pricing of that one yet. (It's safe to assume it will be $1,430 to match last years, but we shall see)
@@TheOnlyName 4050 is mad to buy in my op
2022 G14 is available for $899 now that I'm heavily considering
The bottom piece being aluminium is a very good thing. Quite a few people (including me) had issues with the bottom panel cracking in the 2022 and 2023 editions
I am literally using the 2020 G14 with RTX 2060. and not gonna switch even in 2024. This is still a kickass laptop.
It’s ok if you don’t have the money
It's fine if you don't have the money
Its okay, being poor is normal for many people
I upgraded from that laptop because it didn't have a camera
can you play valorant Smoothly?
Still rocking the first G14 and going strong 🤘
Good laptops for sure
This looks so clean! Was waiting for this video. Awesome content!
Thank you!
Same, agreed!!
@@MatthewMoniz G14 or the X13 flow?
The webcam and mic are pretty solid for a gaming laptop.
Thank you for that disclaimer in the beginning 😭 yes i have the 2020 g14 and i shall keep it❤️ love your videos
I was about to buy this model but that screen wobble in several parts of your review would drive me absolutely bonkers. I'm glad I watched this first! Thanks for the video.
Seeing these new models of the G14 and just 14 inch laptops in general are making me realize just how much of a unicorn last years Ryzen 9 + RTX 4090 Asus G14 was with the miniLED panel. Although that laptop out of the box only offers 125W to the GPU, you can flash other Asus laptop VBios onto it like 150W/175W and not thermal throttle by tuning other aspects and cooling in G-Helper software. It's just crazy the engineering marvel that one is, and how much performance is left on the table by laptop manufacturers this year in the 14 inch space - hell - even a lot of the new 16 inchers.
If you like last year's or this year's model more really comes down to preference, but I'm really liking this. I hope to get one on sale in the next couple months for college!!
And I got one!! :D
I can't believe Mathew didn't lash out at the number of stickers!!
Waiting for your review of HP Omen Transcend 14
Been waiting for this review from Mathew for weeks
Sorry for the delay!
@@MatthewMoniz no worries.. we love ur reviews
Waiting for the G16 review
Such a practical and holistic review for the real world! Highly appreciated!
Fan noise and coil wine? I heard from Josh that there is. What are your observations?
Zephyrus G16 review coming anytime soon? Preferably with a 4080 or 4090?
Looking forward to your review of the new Zephyrus G16....I am more interested in that model because of the larger OLED display with a higher refresh rate
Me too! I need a 16 inch display and the g16 is light which is nice
Agree on your assessment Matt. Skipping this one this year.
Cool chassis though, reminds me of an IdeaPad Slim form factor.
what's the oled difference between this and older models that makes text look crispy finally? Also, why are the 32GB upgrades behind a huge price wall? I would assume many people would want to go 32GB on a laptop like this which you can use for a lot of work stuff, also worth mentioning 8945 draws more power than last year's for not much more. It essentially is a 7945 with more power and the AI bs
I feel we are going to see 32GB from many manufactures being increased in price to price gouge consumers.
Saludos desde Ecuador, haces super buenas revisiones
Having the zephyrus g14 2023 at $1049 on bestbuy with a 4060 (almost same gpu results) i would buy that one instead of this for sure, or wait the price drop to at least $600, cuz this is too expensive.
Curious if you are able to find information about how much weight difference there is between soldered ram and replaceable ? Also how reliable is soldered ram these days compared to back in the day when it was a hughe nono to buy laptops with soldered ram due to failure rate?
Hey Matthew I bought hp pavilion 15 in 2019 but within 2 years of usage the hinge broke I replaced it but within 6 months it broke again, I’m looking for a good laptop with good build quality can you recommend me one?
I have the 2022 6700s. How much better will the 4070 be? I really like the newer screen and speakers.
So for the FPS test, we're those results with turbo mode on and max in-game graphics settings?
I had the 2021 g14 and it held up a long time until I finally broke it. Really interested in this 2024 model since it's not much more expensive than my 2021 g14.
Would you say gaming performance is at least slightly better than the 2021 model or at least on par, but at max resolution? As long as that's the case, I'll be a happy camper.
I think as long as games can average 60fps consistently when capped then it's fine. Seemed almost as smooth to me as having it uncapped.
Would be interested to see gaming benchmarks comparing 2023 4090 version of G14 with the top-specs version of this one.
I'm curious to know how the XPS 14/16 with discrete GPUS stack up against the G14/16 with comparable GPUs. I'm mainly curious because the new G16 weighs 4lbs versus the new XPS 16 at 4.6lbs. I just dont understand how a gaming laptops weighs less and is thinner than an XPS....
Great Video as Always. Please tell me, is there any noticeable Sceen Flickering like older OLED panels had? and could you feeled high temperature on keyboard deck on any side? like it was older Zephyrus G or M laptops
using the 2022 version and, IMHO, the whole red system is the best experience that I had
Hey Matthew, are you also reviewing the G16 too?
Hi Matt.
I really like the design of the laptop, but it look a little like my 2021 Vivobook Pro.
So for me its not an upgrade yet.
Like your videos.
What about fan noise? Some reviewers complained about it. Fans always on with some occasional high pitch noise.
I got mine two days ago and overall I like it.
However, when I tap on my touchpad (not press to click, just tap) it sounds like the touchpad is loose/rattling slightly.
Apparently that was an issue with older models as well and quite common with Asus (can't comment as that's my first Asus machine).
Not sure if I should keep it and try to fix the issue myself or return it. Not keen on sending it in multiple times if this is widespread...
I've got a Surface Book 2 (15" w/ GTX1060 and only 16GB of RAM) and a 14" MBP M1 Pro (also with 16GB of memory); I've been wanting a better Windows machine for game dev and essentially to replace my SB2. This laptop looks like it can do that.
Is there a 4060 model? That'd be awesome.
I would love it with a QHD panel too... 3K is a little overkill for 14 inches.
Awesome form factor! How does the sound and the surface temps under load fare?
love the corlboard table. keep that forever!
Dang the webcam is actually quite impressive.
Machine looks fantastic. But what about noise during normal work and using gpu? Is it noisy or quiet?
Hey, which would you prefer, the g14 2024 or the razer blade 14 2023-2024? I want to change my laptop, but I still cannot decide. I would use it mainly for work and gaming
4:35 source? "Trust me bro" 🤣🤣
I have the 2022 g14 I bought it for 800 barely used in September. I bought it over a brand new one I saw a video saying it’s practically the same and the amount I saved made the difference
Pretty good trade offs for what's being brought to the table this year honestly. I'm not even upset at not being able to swap the ram. 32gb is likely more than enough for everything. I don't exactly even aim to max the performance for games on PC anyway. The performance upgrades/downgrades might look pretty minimal to me.
I'm still contemplating getting this coming from the G14 from 2021. If it's a probable skip if someone has the 2022 or 2023 models, what would that mean if you're coming from even older ones like myself?
the 2023 version is a heck of a lot cheaper and I like the back display better but which one do you think I should get?
Do you think that this is better than the HP Omen 14 that you reviewed? thanks
can't wait for
Zen 5 based CPU with the RDNA 2 based NPU based laptops to arrive by ASUS.
@@ehtasam940 Pakistani ho kya tum?
Sale in 2025
@@HDRPC I can wait.
Cuz, my Zen 2 based laptop that I bought in 2020 is still awesome.
I can wait until 2026 for a new upgrade when even Zen 6 pops up.
I think I'll be content with a Strix Point refresh for this laptop. Maybe even with a vapor chamber cooling solution and support for 4080 and above
@@mcslender2965 My usage is in the field of AI and ML, so the AI based hardwarde things would be helpful to me , not looking to play games at all.
I play real-life games(Cricket,Football,Skating, etc)
What do you do with the lint cloth that you get with it? Do you keep it for the keyboard? I’m keeping mine for it.
What laptop is your current daily driver? Would you consider this one?
Between this and MacBook pro m3, which one will you go for based on speed, video editing and gaming.
I still got the Zephyrus G14 from 2020. Still works fine but wondering if this new G14 is a significant step up over the 2020 model...?
Whats with the proprietary power port? I thought we've moved beyond that...
USB C has issues with maintaining efficiency over 140w charging. Asus could do USB C charging but they would have to crank the voltage pretty high and that will complicate the power delivery system and cost more so they use the current port instead
Would you consider daily driving this laptop Matt?
Hi I have a doubt, maybe is not something really common to ask but is enough good to use for big data files and power bi to run fast? Or how can I know that in a computer?
my 2022 G14 which i owned for a year now is having issues with the charging port. It's so annoying. The laptop looks premium but the build quality isn't as good as you'd think (paint peels off on edges etc..)
I'm so excited to see how the G14 compares to the new HP Omen Transcend 14. Especially when it comes to noise levels and battery life.
Well zephyrus got coil whine. Hp doesn’t :3
Not mine and have had my G14 2021. New Omen 14s keyboard is so ugly with that led rgb pillow around all the keys.
I like the new design
My favourite gaming laptop will always be the Strix Scar 17.
It just looks so damn good. Plus, I don't think gaming on such small panels would feel immersive at all [have never played, so no idea].
Is there any thermal throttling while playing games like Cyberpunk?
Love the new design that price tho got my pockets crying 😭
Bro renovates the stickers again 😂
What do you think about the 2023 Razer Blade 14 with the RTX 4070 now that its $600.00 off?
should i upgrade from a ROG Scar 15 Ryzen 9 5900HX with and rtx 3060 to a G14 with the RTX 4060. I want a lighter laptop while having power still.
Please make a detailed video on asus g16 😊
some reviews have shown the 4070 in this having basically the same performance as a 4060 from last years model. with that said you can save a few hundred Dollars spec'ing these out with a 4060 and 32 gigs of ram, do you think that might be a better idea?
will there be a review about the G16? there is a pretty big diff betweeen the g14 and g16
This is the G14 i've been waiting for. No longer looks super gamer and actually seems like a true Macbook Pro alternative. Good speakers, display, build quality, aesthetics. I think they nailed it as a refinement generation.
if they could put an oled fhd+ with a haptic touchpad, this would be perfect.
how does this compare to the HP OMEN Transcend 14 Im traveling alot this year havent owned a laptop since 2014
This is too expensive. I think I’m just gonna go with last years model. It’s around £1,899 for the 4060 one while the new one is closer to 2.5k with the 4070.
how many frames do u get in fps shooters like valorant and rainbow six siege?
whats the song when comparing audio from razerblade and new asus g14?
Why aren't the all-powerful, ethereal Mac Books also gaming laptops? Could you address this in a video? Great review.
The OS and they only support Metal
Devs do not make games for Mac due to macOS and Metal. Intel days we could boot into Windows but so far MS has stopped Bootcamp on the M1 and M2, no doubt as they ere worried.
Does it finally have USB-C pass through charging?
Have you tested RTX HDR from 419 nits to 800 nits upscale?
I love the design and portability but I'm worried about the performance and temperatures when gaming (AAA games). Not sure if this is an option or if I should skip it :/
It's very good no worries
I just noticed so much screen wobble during the webcam test.
I really hope if frame work do a 14" instead of 13 and make it accept HS AMD processors. It will be epic
nice review sir i was waiting for ur review(i think the price of the 4070 model was 1999 usd) . Would you prefer g14 2023 with rtx 4060 (ips not mini led) which is on sale currently for 1049 dollars (usd)or the g14 2024 rtx 4060 which has 16gb ram soldered and the price is 1599 (usd)dollars. I am coming from a laptop which is 10 years old and runs intel i5 7th gen and no dgpu .Am a engineering student and on the go gamer (prefer fps games). PLS reply it will help a lot. thank you
Just got the 2023 model at $1049 and put in an additional 32GB of RAM making it have 48GB RAM since the 16GB is soldered to the board.
Then swapped the 512GB drive with a 2TB. Figured there wasn’t much change unless you wanted that new screen and thinner design. I prefer to be able to have the extra swappable RAM slot.
Thank you !🙏 planning to buy this one . ☝️
Man I love this thing!!!! 😊
will get this if and when my 2020 g14 dies
Hey Matthew, where did you get this in platinum white? Did you order it from the States?

If you’re okay with having a toaster… you can boost the TGP of the 4070 to above 100W using GHelper. Would I recommend it? Well - idk about the long lasting repercussions… and I don’t vouch for the safety of your device. But that’s true for over clocking anything. Basically if you can boost your TGP to 95-100W - you are essentially maxing out the 4070 because all 4060s and 4070s perform the same above 100W
I'm really curious about its dpc latency. I want to uograde to this from my 2014 MBP, and notebookcheck gave it a decent dpc latency score; however, Windows can be finnicky with drivers when it comes to music production.
Does anyone know of a reviewer that tests this stuff?
Wonder if this is more energy efficient on light load?
I have used a very old computer should I go for this?
The new sticker was a joke, but I worked for the ad agency of KURZ (maybe biggest sticker/foil manufacturer)... Yea, stickers ARE expensive! Especially if they are shiny. Sticker guy had too many beers. Makes me sad!
Yeah I mean Intel cares enough about their stickers to have a whole replacement program xD
Nice one tx
It seems like a more balanced experience than the previous G14. I think is a good change, it brings more options to the market especially when there are no new GPUs and CPU improvement is not impressive. Plus you can still find the 2023 model if you want more power, so kudos to ASUS on this one
Could be worth it to upgrade my G14 2022 with the rx6600 for a 2024 with a 4060?
I feel that more and more laptops are going to use lower TDP GPUs, in order to push more users into cloud platform (cloud gaming, cloud design, cloud processing, etc..). And soon, this type of laptop becomes a very niche category (if it's not already). Will not be a popular take, for sure, but it is more profitable for the business going forward I guess..
should i buy the 2023 G14 for 1500? 7940HS / rtx 4060 125w
Please compare the display reflections with mac book (the best I could find so far).
If the OLED screen will be as reflectig as e.g. galaxy tablets, it would be a deal breaker for me.
coming from a 2020 G14 (R7/2060) im really tempted to upgrade...but then again .... maybe i could/should wait for the 2025 refresh (if that happens)...
Have a real problem that the only decent ram option is more than a MacBook pro. If i could use mac i would. Taking a hard look at last year's model with this discount or the Lenovo slim 5.
