@twystedhumour That's dumb lol why ever spend any time on visuals or the viewing quality then? It's a constructive piece of feedback where the implementation would be pretty obviously objectively superior. Not doing it merely because it might save time is silly. Hopefully you don't extend that logic to literally any other forms of production and I really hope you don't run a business lol

I just returned the 2024 mercury razer 14 for the 4070 g14. My reasoning was mainly battery life, I wanted a work notebook with ability to game if I need it on the road as at Home I have razer 18, Legion i9 pro and Desktop. The Blade is built great, the screen I liked and loved that I could usbc charge from either side, the negative was weight, price, and 2hrs less battery life. If Razer would fix it so you can turn the DGPU off when on Battery, I believe it would be very close and I would swap back to the Blade. Great review.

Thanks for the great video. Both systems are clearly top-of-the-line 14" for 2024. It appears that BOTH OEM's stepped up their game on these systems however went different directions on the design trade offs.
RAM and storage are items that OEM's charge an INSANE premiums for so having ether of them soldered is usually a BIG NEGATIVE. Battery life/run time 'in the wild' is usually at or near the top of the feature list/requirements.
While in the past I've gone with Razer and last year went G14 however in 2024 any decision might not be as easy.
I'd agree with the other commenter that side-by-side graphs would be helpful here namely in noise and (missing) heat. I'd like to see how much warmer/cooler each system runs under load (gaming) given the different cooling solutions.
IMHO: for my use cases the G14 would get the nod (with reservations).

Good review but benchmark visuals need to be changed to show a side by side comparison. I've seen a handful of reviews from this channel and this is always a pain point - no one wants to pause, rewind and go forward to compare benchmarks between the two systems - put them on the same screen. The razer weight is the same as the G16 not the g14 if you are willing to carry that you might as well go to the g16 and get a bigger screen and more TDP on the GPU which would probably erase the performance difference. Also for what the razer is charging You could actually buy the 4080 version of the g16. so this comparison is interesting but in terms of price and weight doesn't hold up. I'd take the G14 due to its price-to-performance ratio and the fact that you can turn off the dgpu unlike with the Blades. But I'll be waiting for this year's Legion 5 14 and see how it holds up against the G14 seeing as it was close to perfect last year already.

Factor in price and the G14 is the winner. The extra power the Blade gives the 4070 doesn't mean very much as performance usually maxes about at 100W. I would rather take the oled and 120hz. Neither laptop really strikes me as a 240hz machine.

That 140w TGP for the RTX 4070 in the Razer means nothing. Channels like Jarrod's Tech has shown that pumping more wattage into the RTX 4050, 4060, and 4070 laptop cards don't offer any performance advantage. Razer is just promoting that as a marketing tool. That's how they get customers...through marketing and aesthetics. I have never trusted the brand as they have horrible quality control issues. Sure the laptop might look good from the outside, but they always have problems with things like battery bloat, keys sticking, cooling issues, display issues, etc. I had one of their mice back in 2014 develop a double click issue 3 months after purchase. Replaced it under warranty and the new one did the same one month after purchase. Switched to Logitech and never looked back and that mouse is still working perfectly today.
