    Its perfect for walking videos. Gimbal stabilization. 4k. Ultra wide 20mm lens. And it automatically adjusts the ISO better than any Samsung/iPhone flagship smartphone. It also has a larger sensor than Samsung/iPhone flagship smartphones. And its compact pocket size means you can record without drawing attention to yourself. Love it. Got mine from DJI Auckland store (New Zealand) July 2021.

      Its good for making videos bht let me tell you . You will get dissappointed really quick when your capturing still photos. I was very disappointed on how blurry the picture is compared to the picture i take on my note 10 which is like 3 year old phone. I honestly dont know how it works. The video looks crisp whilst the pics looking like hot garbage, you pretty much need a tripod to take pic on this little hot rocket to produce a sharper picture. Dont get me wrong, i love this little thing but i use my phones camera for still photos

    I am thinking of buying the pocket 2 combo version. I think it is important to mention that you can’t change the aperture. You will probably need ND filters in so many situations. I would put variable aperture on the wish list. Thanks for your nice video!

    How's the heating issue? I heard that most dji pocket 2 owners complaints a lot about it

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  2 года назад

      It gets really warm when shooting for a long period of time. But it isn't really bad unless you are shooting 4K 60 all the time. I managed to shoot combination of 4K and 1080 for hours and although it gets warm, it is still tolerable.

    The pocket 1 is on sale very cheap compared to the pocket 2. Which should I buy then? And is the jog wheel a must or not necessary. Thanks

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  2 года назад +1

      I prefer Pocket 2 for vlogging, but for recording B rolls Pocket 1 maybe slightly better. The Pocket 2 can be more versatile for all around video though. If you get the Pocket 2, it will come with a simpler version of the wheel, in a form of a mini stick controller.

    • @spirittravels.
      @spirittravels. 2 года назад

      @@Gary_W Thanks. The problem I see is accessories required and tiny screen. Although I prefer a wider field of view I think the Osmo pocket 1 has best image quality. Another issue is need for smartphone attached due to tiny screen?
      Also I see offers for Osmo Action camera which needs less add ons and is much more user friendly it seems?
      .The sensor is the same, and it's waterproof and not fragile, with great stabilization. I guess the choice is not so clear right now.
      The pocket image quality should be comparable, but the Action seems to excell in all other areas. But if I can get it same price I might do so instead.
      Do you have experience of Osmo Action cam?

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  2 года назад +1

      @@spirittravels. I actually observed and very sure that the image quality is significantly better on Pocket 2, Pocket 1 still struggles a lot with noise and grain. I am not using Osmo Action currently, but I used similar product, Insta360 Go 2, which also has great image quality and waterproof.
      To be completely honest with you, Insta360 Go 2 (or Osmo Action) will be more versatile for recording clips of videos quickly and without hassle, especially for travel. However, I use the Pocket 2 for recording vlogs, and in that matter the Pocket 2 is much better compared to the Insta360 Go 2 or Osmo Action because it gives better image quality and sound(speech is much cleaner in Pocket 2).

      @@Gary_W thank you for the detailed response.much appreciated 😊
      I just wanted to say I am wanting for travels. Is the image and audio quality of an Osmo action much worse? What about GoPro 7 or 8?
      I think they're stronger for travel, have good stabilization and ok audio. I don't want to pay lots of accessories. I want cheap and good that's why I look to Osmo pocket 1 with extra wide angle lens if needed.
      But Osmo pocket 2 is considerably more expensive. I can get used pocket 1 for like 100 dollars or a bit more. I'm just a little bit confused because the more you think about it the more unclear it is.
      I've seen some pocket morning pocket 2 comparison videos on RUclips and the pocket one seems to have better image quality compared to the pocket 2 sometimes in my opinion.
      At the pocket to has a wider lens gives bluest skies has better low-light performance with better audio, but tracking issues, no?

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  2 года назад +1

      @@spirittravels. you're welcome! Pocket 1 with wide angle lens is a bit of a nightmare, I almost lost my wide angle lens a few times due to very insecure magnetic connection.
      GoPro and Osmo Action are about the same in terms of image quality, maybe Osmo Action a bit better image quality. GoPro and Osmo Action stabilizer at nighttime/indoor really suffers, because they are digital stabilizer, Pocket 1 and 2 however will do just fine at night and indoor because they are using real analog stabilizer(gimbal).
      I am 100% certain that Pocket 1 image quality is not better, because in my case Pocket 2 is a lot better due to larger sensor, I can get better noise performance and more accurate color as well. Tracking issues are not really that bad for casual travel use as long as you don't move too quickly.
      However, all of these differences are marginal, I think you should choose the one with the best handling and ergonomics for you, for me Pocket 2 is for vlogging and a bit of B roll, while action cameras are for convenient short video clips.

    Is it posible to record 4hr long 4k 60fps video without cut connected to power bank? Will use it as dashcam for long vacation travel

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  2 года назад

      Hello, unfortunately I haven't tried using Pocket 2 for such application, however for 4hrs of 4K 60fps the Pocket 2 will most probably overheat and probably it's not a good idea. For such long dashcam I think GoPro or similar cameras will still be better. Hope this helps 😊

      It is Rode VideoMic Me by Rode, you can attach it to the do-it-all handle and it will work fine.

      @@brebefwen no problem, it is a good mic for run and gun, just used the Pocket 2 with that Rode mic setup for my most recent vlog, and I think it sounds decent enough.

    • @brebefwen
      @brebefwen 2 года назад

      @@Gary_W If I identified it correctly, I think you also have a Rode Videomicro Compact on your camera. Would you mind telling me what difference you found between both mics, considering both cost exactly the same, and which one you would pick for an Osmo OM4 SE + smartphone + mic setup? Oh and, there is a USB-C version of the Video Mic ME, but for some reason it costs double. Did you try that one too?

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  2 года назад

      @@brebefwen the VideoMicro is for regular mirrorless camera (with TRS 3.5mm audio input). The VideoMic Me is for older smartphone (with 3.5mm TRRS audio input). Pocket 2's Do It All handle can take both TRRS and TRS 3.5mm microphone, so technically both VideoMicro and VideoMic Me will work. I chose VideoMic Me since there's no mounting option for the VideoMicro, it needs to be mounted on a coldshoe.
      Also the DJI Pocket 2 cannot take USB C audio if I'm not mistaken, so VideoMic Me with USB C won't work. You have to use proprietary USB C to audio adapter from DJI, or buy the Pocket 2 combo with Do It All handle.
      Regarding smartphone with gimbal vs Pocket 2, I much prefer Pocket 2 for video, but for still photography smartphone is still better.
      Hope this helps! 😊

    Another great and thorough review, Gary. I have two suggestions for improvement. (1) Do not use fancy transitions (particularly the hand covering the lens) as these have become clichés on RUclips. Your delivery is so strong that you do not need that kind of support to make your videos appealing (I refer to your “talking head” videos). (2) Send me 10,000 rupiah every time you say “alright”. :D
