Had a smile throughout this video the entire time. What a beautiful relationship you have with your son. My son is 5 and non-verbal so I got a little teary-eyed wondering what my son would have sounded like at age 3. Keep making these great memories.
Many cannot afford that iphone . The dji pocket is much cheaper and I think it does a great job for that price. :D
After you buy the do it all handle, wide angle lens, ND filter, and I even got a power bank handle that holds it and the phone together, the pocket 2 almost doubles in price, literally. Not that you NEED all that, but for some, these things are necessary. Still, it's a great value, i like how you get to decide what you want rather than just including everything and making it $800

I agree a lot of people tend to not realize that not everyone has a pro level iPhone. The DJI pocket 2 creator combo, with wide angle lens etc, can be bought for $499. Not cheap but definitely not anywhere near a pro iPhone device. I have the pixel 4a and I love it for its size and it takes quality photos as well but it’s an affordable device that doesn’t handle filming for long periods of time, it frankly wasn’t designed to be a filming beast. I love having a separate device for filming, especially since I travel a lot and really don’t want to kill my phone battery with vlogs.

Any improvements to the ultra wide camera on the 12 pro? I was hoping there would be something. That's the only lens I truly care about on my 11pro and it does pretty bad in less than ideal lighting.
Definitely pocket 2 for travel and quick short travel videos. Don’t want to cram my iPhone with so much video which always ends up filling my storage. I have always wanted to keep my phone free from all these things I keep shooting.

Love the vids with Kai in! So genuine in a world of highly staged RUclips. Sure, you probably have an idea or some plan to making the vid, but it's much more fluid and real life feeling that many (dad's) can relate to.

I guess the big advantage for me with the standalone camera is the controls. I hate trying to do camera stuff, keeping my eye on the subject, remaining stable, not accidentally exiting the camera, touching the wrong thing or doing something else that's going to screw up/lose the moment, fiddling with tiny virtual buttons on a touch screen. It's so damn awkward!
Great video! No matter how good phones get, theres something I love about having more storage options...not always having to dump stuff off to make room or use iCloud, etc which kills your data while on the go... I still like stand alone devices like the pocket 2. I've got a osmo mobile 3, but still prefer my sony as a separate device.

I personally think the Dji pocket 2 has significantly better looking video with better color reproduction, shadows are preserved way better and the video also has more detail, overall along with the stabilisation the Dji is more cinematic

I have faced an issue on my pocket 2, the wide angle lens got clash with gimbal during power off! What about your experience in this plz? It seems after using the wide angle lens (Creator combo package) I have to remove the wide angle lens every time during power off! Is it?
Would you pick the pocket 2 over the ZV-1 for b-roll footage? Is the stability of the gimbal, active track 3.0 and Pocket 2's unique form factor enough to recommend it over the bigger sensor, better low light performance and higher dynamic range of the ZV-1?

Dude.... love this video! Shows the "fun" and the "challenges" of having kids at home or at work. I've had my 2-year old and my 6-year old pop up on client meetings (Zoom) or appear in the background so often, it almost feels like it's supposed to be part of every meeting. Well not really, but you know what I mean. Great job on this video... I'm still trying to decide whether to use an iPhone with a DJI phone gimbal (OM4) or get the Pocket 2. Footage would primarily be of me and my wife with the kids around the house, yard, playground! I don't need 4K quality (yet), but I'm wondering how the HD and 2.7K quality looks on the Pocket 2.

Thanks for your honest review and Kai certainly helped too because I knew he wasn't going to be trying out any fancy tricks to make it look better (or worse) than it is. It was one of the reviews I watched before I bought the combo pack. I had some guys telling me the iPhone was still better and I was like check this out plus I'm not an iPhone user anyway 🤷🏻♀️ Also not to bother with the combo but listened to my gut feeling, got it and I'm so glad I did. The tripod alone is ingenious it is so small yet super steady. I love how tiny and discrete the clip on mic is although haven't needed it yet the built in mics are excellent.
As for the camera, a watched a few saying meh to the camera quality, I don't agree!

hey man any chance you noticed weird stripes in your videos filmed with pocket 2? I just got mine today and it creates this crazy effects when i film my couch, I'm trying to figure out if the one i received is defective or something...

I wish the next DJI Pocket would have a portrait mode shooting without having to rotate the whole device so I could take videos without having someone hold the camera. All of social media platforms are doing vertical video now

Loved this, never even considered getting the osmo pocket before this. I'd love to see a review for the Pocket VS point and shoot cameras like the Sony ZV-1 which was also made for vlogging.
I had both. The Sony had better image/video quality, for sure, but both are solid. The Pocket 2 has better low light, and much better stabilzation. The zv-1 wasn't great at either, esepcially stabilization. Also, the Pocket 2 has a much wider shot. The Sony was so narrow especially with stabilization on because it did that by cropping its already narrow shot.. I put a Gimbal on my zv1 (zhiyun crane) and it worked well, but was such a pain to set up. Anyway water damage got it... If I could choose between one or the other.. I guess I'd take my Sony back, but it's a very close call, and the pocket 2 is like, 2/3rds the price, after accessories. I love the built in gimbal. I'd also say the pocket 2 has a better on board mic, and its pretty solid! It's also USB c, zv1 is not. At the end of the day, the pocket 2 is a far better value, but, in decent lighting, with a gimbal, the sony zv-1 looked really, really solid. The software was janky though. For indoor vlogging stuff, the sony, for outdoors, the Osmo is too convienient... I'd probably opt for that unless going all out on a video.

Matti, wondering about two features that seem to add value over a smartphone: the Active Track 3.0 so you can lock on a subject and the gimbal follows them even if your direction of travel is different (i.e. overtaking someone on a skateboard/bike); and the Motion Lapse, where the gimbal moves the camera ever so slightly over time. I don't think smartphones can do either of these things, correct? (p.s. thanks for the great review!)
A smartphone can be also difficult to handle in certain situations. Then doesn't have a joystick nor is so stable.
Correct, but after using the Pocket 2 for over a year I can say that its Active Track is far from perfect...

I´ve already have an iphone 11 pro max, I will start making beauty videos for instagram and tiktok, most of the videos at my beauty salon or at home studio, I decided to buy a DJI OM4 for videos like body waxing (show the wax applied to the body, follow the movement), but in the DJI store told me about the Pocket 2, what would yo in my place? buy the DJI OM4 (cheaper than the Pocket 2) and use it with my iphone or buy the DJI pocket 2? thanks, regards from México

Get well Zach, please. I had it me and my girlfriend in August...our main symptoms most of the 2 weeks was we could not smell our food, but for the most part we felt find. We quarantined apart her at her home me at my mine. We are good now.

What is the name of the track that you used and from which audio source did you pull it from? You list the different audio sources but failed to mention the track used in this clip.
I'm in the process of researching cameras to use for my content. My channel is a lot of me driving and working on my tractor. I'm trying to keep from having to purchase multiple cameras to get different angle shots or having to stop my work to move cameras around. I'm really looking for a tracking camera that can just follow me. Go this camera handle something like that? Is this camera tripod mountable? What is the furthest distance that the tracking still works? Your video was great, thanks!

I have Pocket 2. After shooting a video. I downloaded the video from the portable memory to the computer. When I play the video, a permanent subtitle appears. Probably with the details I set in Pocket 2.

The DJI Pocket 2 is a 4k pocket gimbal video camera. You can walk at any speed, or jog, with smoother footage than any flagship smartphone without having to use digital stabilization or a gimbal. It also has a larger camera sensor. And its cheaper too. You can record without others knowing of it!

I love shooting with my Osmo personally. Its a tiny 4k gimbal in your pocket that shoots raw.

Agree about the photography part, not on the video part conclusion. The Iphone replaces greatly any camera, because it is in your pocket. However, creating a vloging video when you are walking or on the move, Iphone needs a gimble and...here, the dji pocket 2 is more useful and lighter decision. Not to mention, no body will stop the video by calling to you.

Missed out some significant differences, IMHO: 1) tracking with locking horizontal - try doing a crane shot on an iPhone!, 2) remote screen - put the Pocket on a stick and watch the screen on your phone, kinda impossible with a phone only, 3) motorized pans - to do that with phone, you will need an extra gimbal (anyone say "Osmo"??), 4) stealth - most people will spot you shooting video (of them?) when using the phone, but many will miss the DJI Pocket. Just immediate thoughts. What do you guys think?
spend ~$1000 on a new iphone 12 (monthly charges add up, plus other charges), or spend ~$300 on the pocket... I like saving money XD
