I just ordered mine! This camera solves so many problems but people don't seem to be taking it seriously because it looks odd and unconventional. This thing is so underrated.
I've just got mine for my birthday today. =)) But I know what you mean. You almost feel as if you should have a bit of weight for your money. But in reality you are being relieved of weight for your money!
I took mine on a trip to the USA, I also had my Sony A7siii, guess which I used more, yep, the Pocket 2. I love it. Don't care if people think it's odd or whatever. :)

Yeah I agree, this little thing is super unobtrusive and I really like that about it.
@@bluebeast1583 exactly, it's tiny and esp for restaurants and public places its better than a huge lens - but for simple video though
i can confirm that the size of your camera has little impact on the uncomfortableness of filming yourself (i’ve tried). Filming yourself in public/around other people is something you simply have to push through. The Osmo Pocket and a Canon R6 with a 16-35 lens feel near identical in terms of awkwardness (for me) 🤷♂️

But in some places they don't allow you to have the camera on, on the tripod like you're filming, etc. It's stupid really but, thats life

Ordered mine day 1. I am legit blown away with the number of improvements on this vs the first (which I loved but had some minor annoyances). I can't wait to get my hands on this. Plus my wife and I are going away for a little weekend getaway 6 days after the release so better believe this will be coming with us! Man, can't wait!

I love Peter's previews and reviews but not showing the Pocket 2 in use outdoors, with low light, and with dynamic conditions like running or bouncing around in a vehicle does explaining the product a disservice... the iPhone 12 camera review he just did is an example of one that really demos the capabilities.

Me too, how it blends with the mirrorless I think it's what could make the deal, as would be a killer B! Tight places, smooth transition from the A.
Some reasonable low light (where you could work confortable with the mirrorless) so you don't have to light twice as much just for the B.
Me too, I love being able to learn more to share with my community.

Besides the autofocus hunting I thought this looked really good! Definitely would love to see more videos on this! The picture quality was pretty sweet.
I hate gimbals especially when traveling so I see where something like these are grab and go if you need a fluid shot that is run and gun.
So true. I personally prefer a stedicam, but that is even worse for weight.

Its so key when it comes to low light, just shot a gopro 9 video at night, wouldnt have been able to do it without one.
@@kimslife_de Everyone seems to be saying that, but I'm not sure how they compare. Especially considering that the pocket 2 is like a third of the price of a 12 pro. And it also has a physical gimbal, which the 12 pro doesn't, so I think that even the stabilization would not compare. And the sensor is bigger on the pocket 2.

Excellent! Maybe others have, but your the first one I've seen to show the storage of those little pieces in the case and attaching the wireless mic to the top of the case.
Impressive sound even without the wireless mic though. Audio has improved alot and that's a plus
I don't think I'd use it without the wireless mic, to be honest, but it is a nice piece of equipment all around.
Watching Peter's videos makes me want to step my game up! Long way to go!

I'm actually really impressed with the improvements, the wireless mic adaption actually makes me think of purchasing it this time. The audio and the crappy adaptor really put me off the osmo pocket 1. Thanks for showing off how good the upgrade is 👍

I really love these tiny cameras with high technology embedded. I use my Osmo Pocket for most of my takes, being able to get some Jib action, FPV and being creative enough for what the camera can offer. Looking forward to get the Pocket 2 and check the audio feature. But tks for the video, as always, great explanation of the tech. Love from Brazil!
I do a lot of filming while bike riding of other riders. The Pocket 1 was great for that. This is a great improvement, can't wait to get it.

Everytime he puts the wide angle on it feels like I'm at the optometrist
Smaller sensors have more distortion and at the same angle as a gibber one and all action cameras have crappy rectilinear correction for the wide angles they often use.

I obtained 2 C-Stands from a roommate while moving to another place. The screw mount features a perfect screwin for a typical go-pro mount, put the DJ Osmo Pocket on that and swing that around a couple times. BOOM, Cinematic shots

I use my Osmo Pocket (first one) all the time to film myself using active track. It’s like having a camera man in my pocket.
It’s also perfect to carry for blogging when a bigger camera set up isn’t practical.
I’d love this new one as the creator pack addresses all the little issues or inconveniences that the original model had.
This was very useful for me because I was looking for a one combo solution that takes care for all this different footage. Great job sir keep Them coming please.
Happy “Techtober” to you. The footage you got out of this device is VERY IMPRESSIVE. I would love to see more videos with you uses this camera. Your review and feedback really has me interested as buying this as a vlogging camera for me. I have an iPhone 8 and will NOT able to buy the new iPhone 12. However I am looking for a travel pocket camera, and this may be a possible solution for me.

What is that music you used in the beginning? It keep me pumped up and it could be the next advert of Pocket 2, seriously.
We use the DJI Pocket (1) on most of our videos as a primary camera. Usually we are outside in unpredictable conditions so its small size is a real benefit. We've also gotten pretty good at framing up our subjects without having to attach a large screen (cell phone) to it! Thanks for doing this test, have been looking at maybe getting the Pocket 2 at some point.
Love to see some graded footage also maybe some low light test keep up the great work Pete👍
I love this camera, I have the Osmo Pocket V1 and it's great for when you want a small set up or taking this where you don't want to draw attention to yourself or limited space. Perfect for the impromptu video session. I have the charging case as well and love the capability of charging on the go. Can't wait til the charging case is released for this version, then it will be time for the upgrade!
I carried around my A7iii with my Weebill S for 6 hours while hiking and by the end of the day I couldn’t move my arm. I need this in my life.

Another you tube photographer uses the first one for his b roll all the time. I don't notice much of a pull back in quality of the footage. Fototripper is the the other you tube photographer if you want have an idea.

I still use DJI Osmo pocket earlier version and this one is 🔥🔥🔥 because they finally came up with their wide lens, was using Ulanzi wide lens which does the job but has blur on the corners of the screen. Also loved the case and mic 🙌
@@willw212 as far as I know they haven't released but with the launch of new DJI Osmo pocket seems like it'll be available now in the market. And yes I'm also waiting for it.
How do you use this camera? Are you only capturing B-roll or a-roll as well.
@@AskAW I'm doing everything from it you can say I being a dancer and filmmaker. I've shot many of my dance videos from this, some cinematics shots and lots of timelapse and hyperlapse. Please go through my channel and you can get the better idea 🌼🙌
Looks like a perfect mobile setup, if you're travelling somewhere for a couple days and don't want to heft a camera bag along, I could see this being a really sweet little package to get a nce bit of B-Roll and some easy vlogging done, with minimal faff. Good stuff man 👊

It's the handy part for me. It's just so hard to film with my phone. I get way smoother footage with the Pocket 2 even if my hands are shaky.
you need the Osmo 3 or 4 to really use a phone with out any shakes

Love the time-lapse and pano features on the original and found the charging case is a life saver when going off grid. Not gonna lie I was little disappointed that mini tripod didn't double as a knife.

I use a Sony ZV-1 and my Osmo Pocket 1 and it's great combo. Osmo for B-Roll, Sony for pieces-to-camera. Also a nice compact kit that I know I can grab and then handle just about anything. The Pocket 2 looks like a super-smart upgrade! Thanks for the great review.

I'm considering adding the pocket 2 to my gear, the gimbal for b roll, a behind the scenes vlogging to keep projects separate, and having a good camera and still have my iPhone to do iPhone stuff, seems like a winner

Also it focuses... so you can get close stuff sharper, and some background blur. GoPro is fixed focus... close up stuff is always a bit soft.

The upgrade isnt worth it for Osmo Pocket users. I was expecting them to give atleast 1 inch sensor on this, but no, wait for next year :DIm now waiting for Osmo Action 2, as its a long due now.

The main issue is space i guess. They aim for pocketable size while maintaining a decent quality. Maybe they should consider selling a normal version and a "PRO" version with bigger sensor and overall a bit bigger size.
1 inch sensor with built in gimble? It wouldn't be a pocket camera anymore or be called pocket. Nonetheless we are still getting a larger sensor and slightly brighter aperture which will help a good bit. Also the wider fov is appreciated as well as the better sound quality from the mics.
Too lofty a goal but I would have expected DJI to put the same sensor in the Pocket 2 as the Mavic Air 2 same as what they did with Osmo Pocket 1 and Mavic Air 1.
osmo action 2 is next year, fall 2021. New DJI product have 2 years life cycle. Forget the 1in, that will take few years. 1in = $$$ that's why gopro did not do 1in, insta360 can do it since they are the competitor to gopro, it's very expensive! But you buy it separately. Sony did it but they make that 1in sensor so they control cost to an extent but that camera is expensive.
hero9 is expensive, image with a 1in sensor, that 599, 699$ camera!
Maybe for those who don't have the Pocket 1 maybe? Or for those that do with money to spend. I agree with you... bring on Osmo Action 2!

when i saw that the DJI Osmo Pocket is being released i was like: are you guys kidding me?? you just released the DJI Osmo pocket 1 and i bought it. Then i realized we are in a pandemic where every day feels the same and its actually been 11 Months

I have done a number of trail running videos using the old Osmo pocket that you can see on my channel. The focal length etc makes it far better than any action cam IMO
