You must consider that you can't play this bass with it resting on your lap. You have to wear it with a strap.
On the fretted, are those flatwound strings?

the strings sounded like flat wounds which are the worst choice for slap technique
@@_Majoras I think Larry Graham, and a lot of others, would disagree with you on that. Flats work fine for slapping, it's just a different sound.
