Replacement of its 1TB hard drive - Shortened Version.
I didn’t have a 1TB SATA Hard Drive, & was going to buy a new 1TB Hard Drive, then I remembered that I had a 320GB SATA in the garage, from my old desktop PC. Why not try installing this 1st :)
Main tools used were, plastic spudgers/Pry Tools, & of course a Philips screwdriver.
Sorry, but I noticed my camera had trouble focusing, this may have been caused by the low light, since the Sun was shining bright & I had to pull the blinds down lower.
Also you may be able to slightly improve video playback quality by clicking the 'cog' found at the top right of the video, & then selecting 'high quality.'
Hi Stephen. Thanks for the video. Why did you replace it in the first place? What was the issue you were having?
Hi Nathan, thanks for watching.
The DVR 1TB hard drive was just about full up, I didn't realise this until I tried to rewind live TV & it wouldn't work.
I then tried to access hard drive which indicated it was about full in the menu, to delete recordings, but this didn't work.
I couldn't even look at my old recordings.
Eventually I tried to format drive which wouldn’t work at first, but eventually I did have some luck formatting, but within a day the drive failed again, failed to access.
As I mentioned in video I was at 1st going to buy a new HD, until I remembered I had an old smaller HD drive in the garage. So I decided to try this 1st..which tbh I'm am still using, not that I record as much now.
@@stephenphillips8994 Thanks for getting back to me. I need to change my hard drive over, but I'm not quite sure which one to get. I have a 1TB, but not sure which brand or actual size it takes for the screws to line up. Is there a certain model I have to buy?
The HDD dimensions i mean. 3.5"? or a 2.5"?
@Nathan Bowen Hi Nathan, the hard drive size required is 3.5".
The same dimensions as a desktop computer hard drive.
One important thing for the replacement 3.5" hard drive to have. Is the 4 fixing threaded screw holes in the bottom of HD, which are used to fix HD to the humax base. The old HD I had in garage had these threaded holes so might be a standard.
