In our revamped recipe, no need to add any salt! The ratio of 5 cups of rice water with 2 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce is perfect!👌It took us 3 batches to get nail down the measurements heh... so enjoy!!
I made this the other day... and while I am a fan of you guys and all your other food... this did not taste nice :( Too much sesame oil + your alternative suggestion to use anchovy kelp stock --> really masked out the clean flavours you get in more traditional recipes. You should not suggest alternatives if they aren't going to taste good. Complete waste of my money, effort, ingredients and my time. Some of your other recipes are spectacular while others aren't so great... I wish you guys were more consistently great and reliable, then I don't have to waste time testing it out before serving it to people other than myself. I wasted so much food trusting you guys with this one - my husband couldn't eat it and I had to chuck it out.
I remember the original recipe when you were first starting this channel! And I've actually made that recipe (with some personal taste tweaks here and there) several times in the last couple years! Happy to see the return of this recipe!
My MIL makes this but with turnips. She uses bone in beef and boils it down till it falls off the bone and gets her broth from that. I am going to try and make it this way
I just want to say my daughter and I have made this delicious recipe at least 3 times this week (she's getting over a stomach thing and this helped her so much!). I've made this once before using another recipe with lots of steps, BUT there's just something so rustic and flavorful about the simplicity in your recipe, like that of a mommy for her baby. Thank you so much! From a grateful mommy, Dan-yul and KT!💖
I hope you guys share more soup/strew recipes! I always thought soups were more complicated/time consuming because of the broth. But this looks super simple.
Followed the recipe exactly and TOTALLY YUMMY! Everyone just loved it and were surprised by the depth of flavor given the simple ingredients! Thank You!
Thanks for reposting.....this is happening over the weekend ! Daniel & Katie, you guys are too cute ! "I'm in a different Worid....you said something about a stranger?" LOL 🤣 Cheers from FL 🌴☀
just discovered your channel today and i’m already obsessed, makes me feel at home. you guys are awesome & i will definitely be making this for dinner tonight!! 감사합니다
yoooo brings me back to my childhood!! my family used to go damn near every week to this awesome place called 'koreana palace' which had this sick fountain bridge entrance and some really great authentic ambience to it. i remember my favorite thing as a kid was always this soup. the lady who ran the place was always so nice to us and knew exactly what the kids' order was gonna be when we walked in :') .... fresh rice, muguk, and a sprite haha those were the good ole days. most definitely gonna be making a big pot of this for the winter!
I've been going backwards through your videos when there's nothing in my subscriptions. I'm excited to see how things have changed. 😊 I loved the way Katie introduced the radish. 😂 These soup recipes will be very useful when I'm tired or don't have much time. 😌 Fantastic video, as always. 💜💚
Thanks for re-doing these more "traditional" recipes! Jjapaguri is cool and all, but old-school foods are key to exploring a culture ❤ ps: got some kimchi with potato binder funking up in the fridge right now 😂
Yummylicious! The molecules reaching out to me 😊 Usually, I kept the 2nd washed rice water for my face mask and my plants 🤣 but I’m going to try this dish out ... may be beef/pork ribs or which ever meat I could find. Keep it up 👍🏻
This dish is very similar with my hometown dish called Soto Bandung. It's also basically beef and radish soup but with more herbs such as ginger and lemongrass, and usually toped with crispy fried soy beans
So I am a Korean American that has a very big pacific influence. I was born in America but raised in a US pacific island territory. I used to make Solungtang, ox tail soup, the korean way but my Turkish adopted American wife wanted more flavor. So I started to make a hybrid soup that is crossed with the Filipino Sinigang soup and he Korean ox tail soup into one. I add in bok choy, green beans, and radish with tamarind and oyster sauce and other simple seasonings in.
I just made this dish today and it’s so delicious!! The only thing that didn’t work out for me is that my brisket was quite chewy and not tender. Is there a different type of meat cut that we can use so that it’s more tender? Thank you!
Hey could you guys do a video on banjja Yugi? We're wanting to buy some for our anniversary in June as a nice souvenir for our time living here in Korea, but can't really find any good videos or info online (in English at least 😂) on how to care for them or where to get good quality sets from.
I am going to make this soon - Daniel, you say to use the white part of the radish for this. What recipes can I use the green part of the radish? Radish kimchi?
Yes, you can use the green portion for Radish Kimchi (깍두기)... But TBH, you can use the green part for this soup too! The white has a slightly more sweeter juice to it... where as the green part as more of the "radishy" flavor in it.
I was doing some math to figure out how to cut this recipe down, cause I can't (or really shouldn't) eat that much soup. So here's my take on it. (I know you probably don't need this anymore, but other people might? IDK I'm just gonna share my speculation and go) Since there's 5 cups broth + so many ingredients + juice from the radish = I'm approximating it to be about 5-6 cups of soup which, depending on how big you make the serving, can be about 3-5 servings!!
I made the soup today, its delicious !!! Don'thave brisket, used a Angus pan fry beef and turned out OK. Most of the Cantonese soups I make takes hours. The is so quick and easy. Thank you !!
Hi ,guys . Thank you for the recipe . I live in Europe and here we do have that hige radish . But we have the white radish call daikon . Not sure if it's international name for that but maybe it is. So,if any case is nsme a familiar to you . Can u yell me if I can use it for radish soup?

My favourite South Korea ❤people 💕💖love you
Future Neighbor I want to make this today...do you have the written recipe available?
This looks amazing! If I were to substitute the beef with mushrooms to make it vegetarian, would it still taste good?
Great recipe! Would you recommend serving this with any side dishes or just soup and rice?

Love that soup. Man ,I don't know what it is about Korean soups, they're just delicious....all of them. So many to choose from
Glad that you enjoy them! This - and doenjang jjigae - are cooked very frequently in our kitchen :)

I just made the soup for the first time and I love how easy it is to make! It's really refreshing and lightweight too
YASSSSSSSSSSSSS I am all for the revamping! love your content so much

Can beef be substituted for other kind of meat?
Does anyone know if it would taste weird if i did soy sauce and fish sauce?
Does it work with regular reddish too? Not sure if I can get Korean radish in my area :(

Yes, it can also work with daikon! (Daikon is the Japanese Radish... it's skinnier and tasty too - slightly less liquid... but it'll do!)

hi, can u do tubukki with cheese? your version!
