THIS IS MY FULL TIME JOB. Here are other ways that you can support me: www.fpvknowitall.com/support-me/
You should do a series where you slowly add upgrades until its flyable.
Edit: You could put polls in your community section of youtube for the first upgrade
Yes! LMAO! That would both be hilarious and, I think, very informative. It would also probably drive poor JB nuts :D
@@shmucklingNah, If anybody could do it without losing it, that would be JB for sure!
yes!
and end up with a nazhul
step one: carbon frame
step two…..
step three: profit?
@@istim and hopefully reroute motor wires on the actual arms(the fact their just hanging reallyyyyy bothers me lol)
"Drones done wrong" would make for a great video series. Too small props, KV-battery mismatch, etc. What happens when you spec things all wrong.
YO BARDWELL, PIN THAT COMMENT BRO.
It also makes for very clickable RUclips titles
I'd absolutely watch this...
I was very disappointed you did not fly it last time, and I'm even more entertained watching the result of the flights. This is so funny. Keep trying. I am really enjoying this series.
This is my all time favorite style of video. Anything weird or experimental is just a blast to watch. Most of us know why certain things won't work but it's still very fun watching someone show you why it won't work!
When the experimental thing at least has some advantages then it can be pretty interesting to consider - the 3 inch octocopter that Rotor Riot did a video about springs to mind - but when it's just all round using-the-worst-option-you-can-find, then it's not that entertaining because it's just "we knew the esc would blow up quickly... and it did. We knew the frame wouldn't handle a crash... and it didn't" etc...
I think you should fly more viewer submitted creations.... some of them might even work. It could be a whole series :D
Underrated comment.
there's a Spanish channel, DeDrones, that on its golden days used to be specialized in flying the most stupid frames designs you could think about. From a frame made of coke cans to an iPad. If you're interested in that, check the channel
Love this idea
thats my $0.99c build.... lol
IDEA : Cut the exact frame out of titanium, transfer the components, and try flying again.
That would be a damn expensive frame
Imo aluminium would be better choice.
Or print it from CF-infused ABS.
depleted uranium because why make it too easy?
@@ferocious_r would the printlines integrate the fibres or just be put hot onto lukewarm abs though.
You are still making the same triplex like laminated mess untill you find a way to divert onto the Z axis with fibres. By melting it, in finely powdered salt for instance.
"More pieces than we started with" describes all my flying sessions.
Just call it rapid unscheduled disassembly and call it a day.
Thank you for listening to the comments and putting in effort (even tho you and us knew it would be a waste of time).
This is like the “Hardcore” mode in the Diablo videogame. You die once, and you restart from scratch with a new level 1 quadcopter 😂
RClogger Eye One Extreme in "sport mode"
Love that you're listening to the followers, even when it's stupid! 😂 💪
This was hilarious! You should do similar stuff every once in a while. I really want to get into drones, but I want to learn how to build and repair them, so more build/repair content would be amazing!
Proof complaining about something will get you what you want! The flight video! Man that thing flys like a 5"!
Well, at least it crashes like one...
Thanks for the closure man.
Having already been... quad-blocked?... U-A-Teased?... NOTAM-ed Flight For You'd?... in the last video, I watch this one with literal trepidation.
Aaaaaand
I see my patience did _Not_ pay off, LMAO
I actually think this would have flown on the older versions of Betaflight. These kind of builds were pretty common for new people entering the hobby about 7-8 years ago but with the fundamentals of Betaflight working completely differently now, especially the PID loop and filtering (unrecognisable from how it used to be for the people who don't know) it's no surprise that it just caused a windup.
Blue balls gone.
Thank you. I needed to see it
JB! Love you for doing this
this makes the pop-sickle stick quad shaun made even more impressive lol
Yes! Just the video I needed 😂
I am intrigued by a transparent frame concept though!
Thanks for your effort nice video 👍👍👍
My first quad was 3D printed. I went through several materials until arriving at carbon-fiber nylon. It can tank a tree full speed and fly away now. ;D
I can understand some of the reason why this was built. Years ago, HobbyKing used to sell plastic frames for a 5 inch (albeit much sturdier than the one in this video). I'm pretty sure the ones from HobbyKing would have been just as easily destroyed in a crash. Either way, I still learned a lot from this video and I hope you do more of these.
If it's possible to fly a pizza box, This thing should have no problem.
Getting interested in learning to fly, saw a doc on RUclips with you in it. Immediately subbed to see what I can learn.
As soon as I saw that cheap flexible plastic, I knew it would flex like crazy lol.
A few months ago Botgrinder cut a grinderino out of acrylic and immediately it had a flyaway
Great... well... Crashing, I guess, Joshua! 😂
Either way, I still want to make a frame out of wood. But I'm going to apply some varnish and hang it on the wall. 😬
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Like 10 years ago I had a laser and a lot of basically free acrylic. I made a handful of multi’s with Naze32’s out of acrylic, only took 1 or two crashes to realize acrylic sucks for a frame, looks cool though. Also built a few out of delrin and ABS. It wasn’t perfect but for someone new to the hobby and a handful of Banggood parts it was a cheap gateway drug into the hobby.
omg yes! the video yesterday was such a tease
It's like FARGO series - each next more and more exciting. Now I catch your idea - JB you start first season of your CRAKEN FRANKENSHTAIN QUAD)))) Waiting so much for next episode))))
Very entertaining! I've popped a SpeedyBee F405 V4 in an old MJX Bugs 3 frame and moved sliders to the left after the first twitchy test flight. Not quite as fragile, so still flying it. 😁
I should note that not all plastic frames are terrible like this one. In fact I have a geprc darkstar 20 frame which is injection molded polymer and although it isn't perfect it works really well for what it was made to do. A frame that is designed well to reduce the vibrations feeding through the fc should be able to perform well (maybe).
Looks like the stuff that I got in recently for liquidation. (For Parts and scrap) poly carbonate sheet drones but where built in 2010 by someone in the navy.
A new person at our racing club was gonna use an FC like the first one but a stack for his first race quad build. He took the advice we gave him and didn't end up buying it but should probably forward this too him
and that's what we wanted! It's a pity that we didn't manage to record the flowing FC but we can't have everything :)
Current pids nowadays are not tuned for softer frames. Back then 3d printed folding quad became one of my drones. Yes it would fly, but ofcourse not durable. I believe it was the hovership mhq2. Carbon fiber tmounted prop from tmotor was also a thing, but thankfully i was too broke and opt for plastics, it was the right decision.
thanks JB , to show how fast it breaks 👍,
other than that, it was a good experiment build
Feeling like we need to se more Rick!🤗
Definitely worth the view!!!!
Ah thank goodness, now I have closure. ❤ It pleases me that my 3d printed effort (a 10 incher) flies relatively well compared to this 😂
Not sure why but I would like to see the rebuild video on this. You have 7 pcs thats a good enough restart. With some tape and filter adjustments, we could really see that thing soar.😉
Nice thx!
I actually don't think the motor and a reasonable AIO combination like you used to replace the 16mm FC are a bad option for an ultra-light 5" setup. Those motors weren't powerful, but they were surprisingly efficient, and with the right combination on a very light weight setup, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad combination. I'd be curious to see this rebuilt on a 5" ultralight frame. I've done a similar thing with 1608 motors and it works surprisingly well. You could probably even run like 800mAh 4S packs due to the low current draw if you used really low pitch props and kept the weight under like 400g flying weight. I think there is actually something sound in there, but the initial frame and FC were definitely no good.
Damn... you should invest in that frame company quick... they will sell a *lot* of -spares- frames! 🤣
Nice video… for the third video, why not to install all the components from the last attempt in a cheap 5” carbon frame and try again?
Put a F3 in it with CLeanFlight!!! Either way, I want to see it fly right!
Is there a Betaflight preset for plexiglass??
I'm so glad to see a fellow goat farmer who also flies drones. Kudos 😭
Acrylic Frame is crazy
That thing flies pretty sweet, def better than the first one I built.
I learned something 2day, thnx ¶ ; - )
@Joshua Bardwell, Hi, what are the antennas on your goggles in the video? They have awesome look, are they good?
That quad is cursed. It only delivered disappointment.
Now that's what we wanted to see. 👍
I still find this very cool!! I think you should work with this developer and get a good flying one of these just to be a cruiser no hard ripping. It would be a good deed and who knows maybe something for awesome and affordable! And p.s. you should change your title to the most fragile quad ever built 💯🤜
I just came in from flying my evening flight and blamo! New bardwell.
Get him to cut the same thing out of polycarbonate instead of acrylic AND 90 degree brace it with some hook and slot joined elements to keep it rigid - polycarb will still be flexible but bracing it should solve that and polycarb is basically indestructible - worth a play IMO :-) but probably been done by someone at some point
Sweet release 😄
Just put the frame back together with JB Weld 😆
Eek, what a heap... Master multiplier slider should have been left of center. Default dynamic notch would probably need 2 count, in addition to rpm filtering.
this was absolutely hilarious
Why Joshua, Why ???! Life's too short !!!! LOL
Because... why the heck not? 😂
The person who built this had enough interest & passion to design and cut his own frame and start experimenting with components, and would have eventually succeeded. I say well done.
And here I was hoping to learn something today. Better luck next time I guess.
Now rebuild it and try to fly with the bf filters at max 😅
You've redeemed yourself sir!
Where can I buy.
...dont.
Honestly, a couple of plastic rulers would make a frame about the same quality as this.
Modern plastic rulers are less brittle, though.
Thumbs up. You tried this time! 😉🤔🇦🇺
When the PCBs are stronger than the frame. Lol
But why? 😂 loved both videos.
hi i want to get into this FPV hobby what do u think about the Darwin Baby Ape Pro V2 FPV Drone
the old gemfan 5030 i think it was they where exploding when i started flying 4s hahah cool times
Do you want a single use 3D printed frame for the next stage in this experiment? And did you move up to a 20mm AIO or 25.5mm?
Could you of recovered it if airmode was turned off?
goodjob, from a bad example you can learn a lot... like from me... ...
New to your channel!! I have no drone as of now. My last 50 buck 10 inch took a dump lol...batteries just stopped charging for the drone and built in controller battery. Looking for a 3.5 frame for indoor use for real estate work. Too many to choose from lol. Looking to mount a Naked GoPro hero11 on it also. Any advice would be great. Sub to your channels also :) Keep up the great work.
Im surprised that fence keeps your goats in.
It's sad they are wasting those JHEMCU GHF13 AIO 16x16mm boards on these quads, they are amazing boards for 125" builds.
Bardwell, pls. The people need to see you fix it.
sir is it okay to buy a used fpv controller. if it is okay then which thing i should consider before buying it.
love you great content sir. love from Bangladesh
Obviously that unit needs a KK2 board with steveis firmware.
awe.. I was having trouble with a frame I built similarly, also fragile and not meant to crash, I staked it to the ground with thin rope so it wouldnt do this until I could get the filters and pid tunes right. There are ways to deal with stuff like this. You're just inexperienced in jank building. Unfortunate you gave up too. If you had zero money and wanted to fly you would figure it out like a lot of us have. You're just too successful. lol A pid tuning video on how to tune floppy noisy frames would be a great video and challenge for you I think.
Could you add a "Part 2" to the title or description? I saw the thumbnail for the original video a few days ago and just watched an embarrassing amount of this video before realizing that all the context I was looking for isn't going to be in this video.
Is that a battery voltage tatoo bardwell?!
Oh, cool, a video of a frame made in the MultiWii era!... oh. Oh.
I’ve seen a video about African built drones and some of the things they built with was hilarious but they flew maybe not the best but hey they used what they had and it in my opinion it was brilliant
Lighter battery maybe?
The props were still intact ;)
Didn’t Bot try the same thing? An acrylic quad, and his crashed almost the same exact way.
Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the flight? 😮😢😂
best video everrrr!!!
Since you have the electronics left - Make a series of: "Does it fly?" I have some ideas here: 2 sticks, toilet seat, trash bin, running tv, bathtub .... There so many options here 😂😂😂
You're forgetting icecream sticks.
oke. respect earned back. now you should duck tape it back together, install a matek FC, make it fly anyway :P
what kind of frame material was it ? looks like plexiglass
lol, thanks for that
Wow, my prediction was pretty much 100%.
Mm yeah that was good. Thank you😅
Please put all the components on a QAV-S Special Edition frame and rip it around the yard. Please-please-please!!!!! :-)
