This computer just makes me think about when Steve Jobs introduced the new MacBook Air's in 2010 if they could've had Apple silicon in them then it really would've complete his vision for a laptop version of the iPad that came out that year.
To improve the performance for 4K video-editing with Final Cut, would you spend extra money to upgrade from 7 core to 8 core or would you chose 16 gb instead of 8 gb?
Both are perform great and its also depend on your budgets. I would personally recommend as MacBook Pro 8GB ram that is more than enough to edit 4k video with smoothly and run for a long term use for 3-5 years. MacBook Air is not that bad at all but remember if you use it for video editing and heavy run stuff I would not recommend for it . I think I might actually get one for graphic design. Good price and very powerful.
For graphic design go with the MacBook 13.
Would you say it's worth upgrading to the 16gb RAM for video editing?
I almost bought a M2 MacBook Air but thank God I saw a video on your tube about the M1. Your video just gave me peace of mind that I made the right choice. 👍🏾
how much ram did you get?
I got the base model @@TRWHustlers404
Now the question is :
Macbook air 8gb or 16gb?
I think you can get by with 8gb for like hobbyists but any more work like everyday then I’d say 16
I have a Dell xps 9570. I've always wanted a macbook, but I think the air with the M1 chip is going to be my new travel laptop.
I am so gonna have to get one of these to replace my ageing 2011 MacBook Pro
Forgot to mention the ssd dying over time, for being used as temporary ram memory. Still, great machine. Just not a good idea to abuse it . Processing is not the problem...
This is the video I was most excited about...!
Was waiting for this particular video before i could buy this air
Can't wait for you to reveal that you edited this video (about you editing a video) on the M1 Macbook Pro. Then the sequel where you edit that video about you editing this video on the Mac Mini.
been waiting for this video for agess
Thanks for this! I just can't wait for Adobe Optimisation :(
Just installing my programs and plug ins on my new MacBook Air! Absolutely loving it so far, it's snappy as hell!
What specs??
@@Kushagra-cz5hk I got the one with 8-Core GPU, 8GB Unified Memory and 512GB SSD. So far I've honestly been shocked at how good it is, I was really nervous about the RAM, but it hasn't stopped me thus far.
@@mikeandersonwa hey my work is mainly light video editing, going to learn Adobe illustrator soon and for writing papers and stuff was planning to get the base model, while using heavy programs how much swap and ram is the machine taking can you please tell??
@@Kushagra-cz5hk just opened a 2K video in Final Cut (with lots of text elements) and ran it, while running a song in Studio One 5 (Running under Rosetta) while also running Safari, Apple Music, Email, iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook messenger. According to Activity Monitor during that I was using 3.5GB of Swap memory. Hopefully that helps a little... I would definitely recommend getting the 16GB version if you can, just because more memory certainly never hurts, but I haven't noticed any slow downs on my Air with 8GB.
Gotta say this looks absolutely fantastic, over the last couple of months I have been obsessing in getting a 2020 iMac 27” as my 2015 MacBook Pro is showing it’s age. But after seeing how jittery they are with video taken on the latest Canon cameras when compared to the M1, it is a no brainier on what to get next. All I need to decide on now is what kickarse monitor to get. Thank you for this video.
I was using a MacBook Pro 2014 for a long while, just upgraded to a MacBook Air M2, over the moon
The real MVP is the Melt Bar and Grilled shirt!!! One of the places I really miss from when I lived in Cleveland!
Your M1 videos should part of FAQs section on Apple website 😅
This was really useful Gary. Thank you so much!
I’d be interested to see how this does on the new version of Resolve written specifically for the M1 chip.
shit I didn't think about this! I got the M2 MacBook Air, so gonna try it later on
Vlogception + Video-Editing-ception = 🤯
I envy your kid(s?), wish I had such a cool dad!
@@STICKITINYOUREAR was?😔
Needed to choose a laptop for video editing and I think this may have sold it to me? I've heard mixed stuff but this looks great
I Used Adobe Aftereffect CC is so laggy to preview frame...
We get it, you like the new M1 chips. Glad you are excited about the product
I’m so going to get one of these new MacBooks... after June 2021.
If it has the programs that you need it's a great laptop
Which one is coming out by then ???
Wait for the 2021 lineup of m1 macs
You won't regret it
@@MdAsif-gb1sj that’s my plan.
I just bought this one, ordinarily i would wait but i need a laptop now soooo
You have one of the best tech channels. Thank you!!
Please make a video to see if a Mac mini would work for college students!!’
Depends
You’re low key pretty good at this 😎
How about engineering software like MatLab, Autocad, ArcGIS, etcetera?
Yeah i also wanna know how this software run on air
@@monilansodariya2850 Probably yes, it's like a gtx 1050 2gb
@@josepaoloherreradavalos6677 I mean yeah the M1 is fast. And its GPU can compete with the GTX 1050
but are the softwares compatible with the new m1 macbooks?
(sorry if I use wrong terms or jargon.)
Thank you
i don't think that's possible for those software

Will miss using my 2013 MacBook Pro as a personal heater every winter.
Now I'm more confused on what my first Macbook would be!!! 🥺😭
@Unreliable Bacon wahh thanks!! i'm so happy I didnt get the earlier 2020 model this year
I love how he reacted to him saying “let’s find out *slam*”
This generation of M1 are amazing, can’t wait to see M2 or M1x. Question: I see you are using a Magic Keyboard, did you have the opportunity to try the Logitech Craft or the MX Master Keys and compare with the Apple Magic Keyboard? Nice video, so entertaining!!!
I haven't, I personally use the magic keyboard so that's what I stick with.
I know I’m a bit late but that wind that got picked up on the mic was a really really cool transition sound you should use it.
How do you know whether to go for the 7 or 8 GPU? and 8GB vs 16GB Memory?
This computer just makes me think about when Steve Jobs introduced the new MacBook Air's in 2010 if they could've had Apple silicon in them then it really would've complete his vision for a laptop version of the iPad that came out that year.
To improve the performance for 4K video-editing with Final Cut, would you spend extra money to upgrade from 7 core to 8 core or would you chose 16 gb instead of 8 gb?
I had that same question! Did you ever get any answers?
would go 16gigs, but unfortunately in my country no option available to upgrade
Both are perform great and its also depend on your budgets. I would personally recommend as MacBook Pro 8GB ram that is more than enough to edit 4k video with smoothly and run for a long term use for 3-5 years.
MacBook Air is not that bad at all but remember if you use it for video editing and heavy run stuff I would not recommend for it . As MacBook Air doesn't have fan system to cool down the CPU like MacBook Pro which mean the hardware on MacBook Air will slow down the performance if you use heavy stuff programs.
I hope this comment might help you
Spend wisely
I'm using m1 16gb mac mini m1 and it handles everything like butter but for simple 4k videos,8gb is also just fine.
@@drsagarrv hi and why did you go for the Mac mini instead of a MacBook ? I am looking for a computer to run FCP and edit videos. I don’t know which one to choose between MacBook and Mac mini and curious to hear why you did this choice. Thanks !
You should try editing on Macs with different video editing software, that’d be the real challenge. FCP is optimized from the jump.
I have used DaVinci Resolve with a 4k ProRes, butter smooth and super fast rendering..
how do you feel about the 8gb 16gb models? is it way more efficient with ram? anything with less than 16 makes me uneasy nowadays...
This is the 8gb model he’s using bro. So you tell me. Doesn’t look slow
Dude I love your channel
