Why are so many people hating on this cause of dust?? It's an open air system. It was designed to be a showpiece, not to run in your home 24/7 with your 3 cats. That's like hating on a formula 1 car for poor fuel efficiency. That's not what it's meant for!!!
Uhm, no this is like hating on a Honda Civic with a abs body kit and lambo doors. Nothing about this case screams performance. This is looks. Looks. That Tokyo Drift Veilside RX-7 orange paint job isn't an accident.
El espíritu del tigre that’s not the point of the comment. His point was the case isn’t supposed to be used as your daily driver. Just something to show off your parts
It'd have been fine if it were a separate emblem that could be added to the case with some double sided tape or something, but having no options in logo placement, or colors aside from orange kills the show case aspect for me.
I bought this case a while ago and its my favorite PC case ever. As for the orange piece unlike what's stated in this video, it is ABSOLUTELY REMOVABLE by simply three screws at the front. I painted it red along with the five support beams and it looks absolutely stunning!
What would give better cooling. Closed or open? When it's closed, you can control airflow. When open I imagine it's more difficult, but does it matter?
6 months into my ownership on this thing, here's some notes for those who care: -The orange panel comes off after removing 3 8-32 hex screws (9/64 hex key) on the left side under the front cover (and the side drive mount screws, if you put them). I did this to paint it and as a nice bonus it made managing cables much easier. You can replace the hex screws with thumbscrews to make removal/installation easier down the line. - Coolermaster's vertical GPU mount kit fits without modification, though there's a slight bend back with my Conquer's pci bracket that I attribute to it fully supporting the weight of the GPU in this configuration. This appears to be a consequence of the Conquer's design. - Concerning the suspiciously similar Raidmax X08, the glass mounting screws from that case work with the Conquer's mounts and vice versa. The glass panels, however, are not interchangable with the two. - Careful with the front panel wires as their connectors can be pulled out from the front panel pcb. Reconnect them asap, the open connectors are likely to trigger overcurrent protection in most motherboards and prevent your pc from powering on. This happened to me after plugging in the usb connector with the front panel audio cable pulled out of the pcb. - The front panel unit itself can be removed if you take off the top cover off, revealing 2 screws on each side. Put tape on the power and reset buttons before you remove it because they'll just fall out. - If you mount 3.5in HDDs in the back (which you have to do BEFORE you put in the mobo), the connectors will be pressed straight against the chassis - flat power/data cables ends are a must. Recommend using round sata cables and sata power extensions. This way of mounting also makes it impossible to swap out those drives without a complete teardown, but they don't have any vibration issues (unlike some other cases I've had that use rubber grommets and removable drive trays). - You can lay the case down on the back with HDDs mounted - the support mounts are tall enough to give them about 1-2cm worth of clearance. This only applies if you're laying it down on a flat surface where all 5 support mounts touch the floor. - The left-side glass is a major structural component of the case, I recommend putting it on and taking it off with the case laying down. You can put it on while the case is standing if you mount the glass to the feet first, then pull up on the top to get the topmost mounting hole to align. - This should be obvious, but aluminum isn't magnetic. - The fan screwheads seem undersized compared to the mounting holes for them. - If you've got a ton of cables to stuff behind the front and plan on running intake fans, you can rest assured your psu cables will receive ample cooling. Just make sure they have fan grills to protect both parties from unwanted contact. - Components can build up a thin, even layer of dust on them, especially in/around case fans. However, it's not a huge chore to reach in and get compressed air or even a towel in there to wipe it down. - EATX Mobos fit, though it restricts the passthrough holes. Pre-route your power cables before you try mounting a EATX mobo. - I routed my power cables along the back with the following Cablemod lengths for a ROG Zenith: 24 Pin ATX 700mm 8 Pin EPS 800mm 8 Pin EPS 800mm 8 Pin PCI-E 750mm 6+2 Pin PCI-E 750mm If you have a standard layout motherboard (EPS 8 pins on the back near the IO) and want to route the cable along the back, just go for 1000mm EPS cables.
Literally the most helpful comment I have ever come across on YT. Ever though of doing video reviews? i'm planning on making a sweet build with this case,.
The case looks really good but it's not for those who have dusty rooms. If you have animals and carpets then this will really get a lot of dusts inside the case for a month-two.
Huh :D!You beginner,I have the "dustproof" BeQuiet! Dark Base Pro 900 and I need to clean it every 7 days or my PC will look gray and worn because of my white LEDs.
1: Less than 100$ would not be possible due to the odd construction and the materials. I'd think something like 170-250$ would be a lot more reasonable for what they're giving, though. 3: it would be an absolutely massive box and you would need to dissassemble most of it anyway to get the computer inside. 4: Does the name even slightly matter? It's nowhere on the case.
Not a big fan of it honestly... Mostly just the Linus color scheme turns me off. I wish the orange was silver or even white would have been better... BUT it has potential to have an epic custom loop in it!
I think it'd have been even cooler if it were a sort of translucent material, maybe frosted glass with an RGB LED back plate so the entire piece could change colors according to the owner.
So spend $300 on a case that you have to spend money on just to make look right? I'd get it if it was a kit case for $150, which honestly those materials would be able to fall under that price and then people can go crazy making their own color themes.
Me personally intend to buy it, and by having a case as "Open" I intend to get something like wrapping material to hold the cables in the rear as you did, but in general, it looks awesome from both sides, might even add a Orange LED strip on the back by the cables so it still glows in between Black and Orange! Great review btw!
it's about time dimitri and ibra learned to create a watercooled system have watched numerous vids here on the channel with air and AIO coolers...i think it would make an awesome video if they both went in on a water cooled build
Really poorly designed case. it is priced way too high for what it offers (If a case has a premium price, you should not have to think about solutions for shortcomings, as that is something you do with a $50 case. Beyond that, much if the space is wasted as it cannot be easily be used. The upper right hand corner of the case is the most poorly designed aspect of the case. Beyond that, tempered glass should not make a case that expensive. For about $200, I purchased a large TV stand that has 3 rows of tempered class, each about 50 inches long, along with a mount to attach the TV to. That case probably cost about $20-$30 to make.
The shape of the glace increases the price substantially but otherwise I aggree. I like the look of this case but it either needs to be better or be priced lower if it wants to compete with the likes of inWin's high end showpiece cases.
And it's funny, because I spent $65 on my Phanteks Eclipse P400S TG and it's a /great/ case. I have no issues with it. For someone coming from years of full tower cases like the Haf X, I had no issues with building in such a small case, and have room leftover. The cable management was great and it's really quiet. The only issue I would say it has is poor intake airflow, but I've already remedied that by modifying the front bezel. I removed the plastic portion from the bottom of the front clip and glued the LED diffuser directly to the LED's and cut out a slot about twice the size of the one already there for airflow. My temps at idle and load have dropped a good 5 celcius. Idle temps on CPU are 32c with bequiet Dark Rock 3, and GTX 1080 Ti idles at around 35c.
thanks for the heads up... all other builders so far have miss the mark at listing the honest cons about this case. it will be my second time out building and now i'm not sure i can handle the difficulty this case will challenge me with. that being said i now know what areas will be the most challenging and will require the most attention.
Seriously, how much of dullard do you have to be to not understand the point of a case like this? Its fine if you don't it, fine, everyone's tastes are different, but asking what the point is is like asking what's the point of a convertible.
Do you happen to have a link to the Silverstone storage kit? I can't seem to find it and it seems like a good way for me to make use of a couple extra ssds I have laying around
yes you are correct. these are for modders I think. Then can do everything on that cable management. For that orange backplate, you could repaint it to match on your desired color theme
I disagree. While I maybe would have went with a different color if I could choose one, at least it's not red. Everything is either black, or red and black, or white, or white and black. Literally everything.
I was sure that Alienware Area 51 Gaming-PC had the ugliest case ever, but this takes No. 1 spot all day and year long! JEEZUZ FUCKING CHRIST WHAT A DISGUSTING CASE!!!
Replace the orange piece with an acrylic or glass piece and an RGB LED strip on the inside edge of the front panel so when it lights up the entire slab lights up to match your build. Also if they rotate the PSU to match the angle of the mobo, most of those cables will be hidden by the orange panel on the one side. You can also gain more room to take up some cable slack behind the orange panel where most people wont immediately look. That angle will also make it easier to reach under the glass and hit the power switch on the PSU. Out of the box is a pretty meh case but the potential for mods is quite big. I like it, it's different and eye catching. Good conversation piece.
This would be nice for a Cyberninja Hanzo-themed build. White components, black/grey sleeves from Cablemod, white LEDs, and some silver peripherals would look really nice.
I'm OK with the look of the Conquer, but the functionality for water cooling is superb! As far as the wires showing on the right side of case, I would just paint the back of the glass black or orange to match case after scraping off the cougar logos (unless they're etched)...the one on the front is enough.
Am building in this case. My side panel had screws so I got to change the colour. I agree about the exit point for the cables needing a cover and support pins for the glass.
The orange piece is removable if you take the front panel off and remove the 6 screws in the front and two on the side. The cougar logo on the glass can be taken off with a sharp razor blade.
Wrap the exiting PSU cables is a cloth wrap. Looks really clean and you could even give it some accent color that way. I use all black cables but different color cloths on mine.
I seen that he had a sponsor from thermaltake for their riing fans are those things any good? They look great for the price and was thinking about getting a 3 pack.
Guys i really like this case and intend to order one but this orange colour will be not looking good with my table so asking can i remove the orange part so i can change it colour with paint
I love the case. If I was going to build a custom watercooled system this is a case I would look at. Definitely not a case for beginners to build in though. The orange panel would have to be removed and I'd just mount it myself once it was black. Building in this case would totally require custom cables but if you're buying this case you would probably do that anyway. Lastly the Cougar logos would have to go.
So I got the kraken 62 280mm rad and after getting the case I now can see the fans are all 120mm and wont take the 140 mm space. looks like I'm getting an adapter.
Could you either recommend or make a video about swapping the tubbing on the NZXT Kraken? I have a x62 and want to change the jump and Rad but keep the infinity mirror etc but can't find anywhere to see how
@Heaven Sama this is the CableMod AIO Sleeving kit. It's completely tool free, you just wrap the sleeving around and clamp it in place. You can check out directly on the global store, or through resellers. store.cablemod.com/products/?filter_product-category=aio-sleeving-kits

Not only it has poor fuel efficiency, you can't even get from home to work on the damn thing. It's a useless car :D

Cougar really loves to force their logo down our throats with each of their cases :D
True that, and with a budget case it's not as bad, but on a $300 case no way!!!
It'd have been fine if it were a separate emblem that could be added to the case with some double sided tape or something, but having no options in logo placement, or colors aside from orange kills the show case aspect for me.
That's my kinda porno.

Spot on with the review, even tho the orange panel cant be removed it could still be spray painted just need paper and painters tape
The orange panel can be removed
With those orange panels on the side it's looks like KTM super Duke 1290 to me.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Cougar Panzer, although I've never actually used it myself.
I've got a panzer, solid case for $89 especially with dual tempered glass panels

That angle will also make it easier to reach under the glass and hit the power switch on the PSU. Out of the box is a pretty meh case but the potential for mods is quite big. I like it, it's different and eye catching. Good conversation piece.
Shitty case lol
Do you think the NZXT cooler CPU cooler can reach the front fans?
I love Cougar for pushing the orange/black color scheme.
How to make a Hardware Canucks video title:
1- type a question
2- have the answer be obvious without even watching the video
3- done
Not sure about the case but the way that tubing sits is quite pleasing to the eye!
That case looks sick as hell!!! I have the Panzer Tempered Glass mid-tower and I love it. This maybe my next future case.
How did he get that NZXT Kraken cpu AIO to have that red tubing? I only see black on NZXT website
I think you have found your winner for "What were they thinking" 2017 best case awards.
This would be nice for a Cyberninja Hanzo-themed build. White components, black/grey sleeves from Cablemod, white LEDs, and some silver peripherals would look really nice.
"I sleeved my AIO tubing"
Why have I not thought of this lol.
I'm OK with the look of the Conquer, but the functionality for water cooling is superb! As far as the wires showing on the right side of case, I would just paint the back of the glass black or orange to match case after scraping off the cougar logos (unless they're etched)...the one on the front is enough.
i would like to know if it is possible to install ATX motherboard into this case? i mean Gigabyte X99 Designare EX Motherboard.
What's up D'mitri, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't da case name Conquer, not Conquer-er? Ur still da best, homie!
Your review is spot on, and I would of like a gray side cover instead of the orange color but I like the looks
Am building in this case. My side panel had screws so I got to change the colour. I agree about the exit point for the cables needing a cover and support pins for the glass.
Dude......you're totally awesome.....reminding me of.......me! Love your way of critizism and enthusiasm :) Haha subbed!
I use all black cables but different color cloths on mine.
how many hard drives and pci cards this case support?
I seen that he had a sponsor from thermaltake for their riing fans are those things any good? They look great for the price and was thinking about getting a 3 pack.
LOL. I own this case. It's awesome and unique. Cool to see HC do a review of it!
Is the Cougar logo easy to remove on the front? I mean can it be scratched off of the glass or something
Could you punch out the rivets and then remove the orange pieces n then paint them? Then rivet them with a riveter gun?
Damn really nice, I love these kinds of cases because they're a simple way to flex your pc at a single gaze
TBH Conquer isn't a bad name... Considering it actually has a name and not just a model number.
I think with a lot of time and patience it would end up looking amazing and unique
1 guestion...
Are the side panels glass or plastic?
So I got the kraken 62 280mm rad and after getting the case I now can see the fans are all 120mm and wont take the 140 mm space. looks like I'm getting an adapter.
This is what waking up @ 6:57 in the morning looks and sounds like.
Man very strong feelings for that logo, and the orange fans
I saw this case in person at microcenter the other day. It's quite striking.
