@@TheGrumpyFarmer Of course you are right about the price of farm equipment parts & it's availability, But the sad part is that the majority of those parts are now made overseas (China or India or elsewhere) The same for auto/truck parts, whenever you buy a part from Auto Zone or any of the other stores look on the box to see where its made, chances are its China. Few parts are made here anymore. Since China considers us an adversary, What happens to our parts supply should we go to war with them?

Coming from a farm/construction background I agree. SS tanks and SS equipment has gotten very expensive and at times difficult to get. Groceries,fuels, materials all have gotten outrageous, I can’t imagine being a 25-yr old trying to start a family/life in these times. Cant buy land like my wife and I did back in the 80’s-90’s. Sad state of affairs

When you do vote you dip your finger of choice in a cup or bowl of red, blue or white die, your choice, to show that You Voted. That way all counts would be counted correctly. A lot of the over pricing for part is a money grab by manufacturers, and not just JD. Last year the PTO CV joint went out on my NH discbine. Dealer wanted $1200 for it and didn't know if they could get it. Also I probably would likely need to change the u-joints. There were 2 different part numbers and depending on the one mine had one was priced over $200 and the other over $600 and that would be x2. For the half shaft they wanted $2700 and naturally it was available.🤔🤔 I found a place around Lancaster that had the exact same half shaft for $1400. They had the whole complete shaft for $1600. I got the half shaft and it still took a week to ship it to Erie. They all play games for the money and don't care about customer service or satisfaction.
Today factories get the order first then work their ppl overtime to make it after the fact - they don’t hold material in stock waiting for the orders ….. and the while they’re waiting for orders they lower employee hours and then wrk them non stop no day off when they have the order…

I saw that video with Mr. Sunshine saying that to the reporter. Right there would have been the perfect opportunity to enact a .45 cent fix for that future problem because I took that as a direct threat that needs attention. If any regular citizen would say that on camera, the FBI, ATF, and any other three-letter agency would be kicking in your front door and putting you in prison for making terroristic threats. These are scary times indeed. As far as parts go...what parts is more like it. Everybody is going to just-in-time inventory. This means the dealers don't want to carry the inventory anymore because the bean counters said so. They only have one of these or one of those, not multiples of, so you have to wait for the order to come in, assuming the parts are even built or available. Make them scarce and expensive is the new norm. Simple stuff like pins are stupid expensive, which is why I machine and heat treat my own when possible. I'm glad I invested in the machine tools to have the ability to make the parts that I can. It is turning out to be a nice side income for the farm too with making or repairing parts for other folks because I stay busy all the time. People made fun of me when I bought those rusty, dusty machine tools 15 years ago and overhauled them, but now they are the same ones who need me to use them. I'm definitely getting it Andy!
Marketers rule the world, don't they? Make all theses pennies by buying a whole bunch of crap you don't need. Businessmen laugh at farmers because we're happy with a 5% profit. I've always noticed this on equipment. To make more money, manufacturers increase the price by adding a marketer's technological miracle. For Christ's sake, how many times do they have to reinvent the disc?

A lot of the over pricing for part is a money grab by manufacturers, and not just JD.
Last year the PTO CV joint went out on my NH discbine. Dealer wanted $1200 for it and didn't know if they could get it. Also I probably would likely need to change the u-joints. There were 2 different part numbers and depending on the one mine had one was priced over $200 and the other over $600 and that would be x2.
For the half shaft they wanted $2700 and naturally it was available.🤔🤔
I found a place around Lancaster that had the exact same half shaft for $1400. They had the whole complete shaft for $1600. I got the half shaft and it still took a week to ship it to Erie.
They all play games for the money and don't care about customer service or satisfaction.

Today factories get the order first then work their ppl overtime to make it after the fact - they don’t hold material in stock waiting for the orders ….. and the while they’re waiting for orders they lower employee hours and then wrk them non stop no day off when they have the order…

I saw that video with Mr. Sunshine saying that to the reporter. Right there would have been the perfect opportunity to enact a .45 cent fix for that future problem because I took that as a direct threat that needs attention. If any regular citizen would say that on camera, the FBI, ATF, and any other three-letter agency would be kicking in your front door and putting you in prison for making terroristic threats. These are scary times indeed. As far as parts go...what parts is more like it. Everybody is going to just-in-time inventory. This means the dealers don't want to carry the inventory anymore because the bean counters said so. They only have one of these or one of those, not multiples of, so you have to wait for the order to come in, assuming the parts are even built or available. Make them scarce and expensive is the new norm. Simple stuff like pins are stupid expensive, which is why I machine and heat treat my own when possible. I'm glad I invested in the machine tools to have the ability to make the parts that I can. It is turning out to be a nice side income for the farm too with making or repairing parts for other folks because I stay busy all the time. People made fun of me when I bought those rusty, dusty machine tools 15 years ago and overhauled them, but now they are the same ones who need me to use them. I'm definitely getting it Andy!
