It is always nice to hear an update about Sable. When she first started on the farm I could not imagine why she would want to work on a farm, but it didn’t take me long to see that she picked the right family to work for and to teach her.

I had a very difficult day. It was NOT fun. I came home feeling so beaten down. And then? Daddy Cornstar. You are the most delightful human being. You're so sincere, and real, and just a wonderful way to start a quiet evening. Thank you for checking back in with all of us. This lady appreciated your company this evening.

Glad to see you back, DC. Hope to see more from you and MC. Letting go of the past isn't easy, it's become a part of us over the years. Kudos for letting the kids do their thing and make the farm and home in their image. You've come a long way since I started watching your videos.
I think restoring the Oliver is a pretty good idea for the future. Not a bad job for Cooper, I think.

Hey DC, as an older viewer (52) I certainly appreciate You and Mama Cornstar's point of view on life on the farm, I would also like to thank Cole and Summer for the technical support, and Cooper for keeping the whole thing running, quite literally.
Much love to the entire cornstar family.
I hope you have the best year ever in 2022.

Keeping it real, the half dozen or so farmtubers that I watch each have their uniqueness, and not to say they don’t keep it real because I believe they do however “real” and “personal” are tightly interwoven, and you folks as a team bring a different perspective to the farm. I would venture to say most farmtubers wouldn’t divulge as much as the Cornstar’s do and that brings a uniqueness to your channel.

Restore your Oliver. It's easy to think you have to do it all at once, but you don't. If it's been moved to light duty and odd jobs all the better. Of all the equipment you guys own and all that has come and gone, if that is the one piece that you just hate to give up on then you should do it. It will never be worth less, depreciation is over for that one. Sure you could throw buckets of money in it and never get it back, but you don't have to do that way either. I guarantee you'll be just as proud of having that tractor tightened up, painted and looking good as you are of the rest of the farm after cleaning out some old and making things look good. You'll enjoy having it twice as much even just using for the odd jobs, It'll make you smile every time it gets used if you go ahead and fix it up nice. Thanks for sharing

When you talked about the feelings when Cole and Cooper started cleaning up things your Dad saved. it brought my Dad back to mind.
He grew up during the depression back in the 30's. And tended to keep everything around even after it became unused. Sometimes we did borrow parts off from the old equipment, but most of it sat until we had to settle the estate.
Some of the tractors I miss and wish at times I could have aquired, but at the same time i sure don't know what I would have done with any of that stuff

The 1998 4X4 pickup had the best four wheel drive unit GM ever made. The drive shaft and all its bearings are over built and it had the first gen vortec 350. I had one with 200K miles on it, went in and had the drive line rebuilt with new bearings, new bushings in several places and dropped a crate 350 bottom end put in. Less than 2000.00 and literally drove and rode like a new pickup. I sold it for 7500.00 at 209K miles and now has 290K and is still going strong in our community. 1998 was a very good year for Chevy and 99 they made all the changes to the next generation.
Wish I still had that old truck!

To be honest, I would like to see yall restore the old oliver....
I enlisted and left for the military in 1995, my dad passed in 2005.. Even thought I was stationed over seas at the time, freinds helped me save and hang on to the old farm tractor my dad bought when I was around 8 years old. That was the first tractor I learned how to drive and used on our farm. Now that I'm retired from the military after 24 years in, I am starting the process of restoring the tractors to a "working" show quality.... I wish my father and I could have done this together..... but as I fix/replace parts, it does take me back to some of my best child hood memories.... times we spent planing on what to do with the land or how to fix something that had broken on the equipment with what we had available,,,,, and such.... I look forward to driving the old tractor when I get it fully running again....
Another thing is I know as a farmer, money is a resources and at times resource can be limited... So if coast is a factor,,,, maybe thing about approaching the oliver like I am my tractor, I plan on fixing one or two things a month (as budget allows). yall replacing the starter is a first step on a potential budget restoration project.... So in some ways yall have already started a restoration on the old girl.... Could also be one of your special videos of the moth on your D.C. channel. Maybe your talk about memories of your father/other family members/lessons learned in your early years..... things that happened in the old-en days as you work on a specific piece of the tractor.... in a video..... This could also preserve things for future generations of the corn stare family... just an idea.....
For me, I guess in ways, it not only brings back good memories while preserving a part of farming heritage, it has also played a role in some of my healing process from my mil service.....
Now, looking to the future, since that oliver has such a history with your family and farm, think of the stories you could tell as you teach your future grand kids to drive the old oliver. Also, as you, Cole and the rest of the family goes to events, the tractor could be a star display as part of your families farming heritage.... Might be a way to write some of the repairs/restoration off as an advertising prop expense to..... for events yall attend
And finally, just look at the pride and pleasure the Ford truck that Cooper and your dad restored has not only brought to Cooper but the rest of the family.....
    Just some ideas....

    (AKA: boots)
an old farm boy from Oklahoma

Not many people work harder than farmers that is for sure. I’d say trucking up there with hard jobs. But watching you guys work so hard I feel blessed that I love what I do as much as you guys love farming.

I really hope you decide to restore that Oliver! I live in the little town of Lisbon IL. where there was a dealer who sold Massey Harris, Oliver and New Idea. I was probably about 8 yrs old when the 1800 and 1900 Oliver came out. I thought they were the biggest thing around! A farmer about 2 miles from us had a 1900 and he would plow way after I was in bed but I could hear that screaming jimmy all night! Those were great tractors and great memories! Really hope you will restore it especially since you grew up on it. I have a John Deere 70 diesel I restored because I grew up around them . It's not a cheap project but you won't regret it! I love all your videos and hope you keep them coming! Stay safe and God bless 👍
