Okay I got 4 c hair and I made a mistake in the beginning by leaving it in. It's called protein overload. So now I wet my hair with fermented rice water on every second wash day (2 weeks) I leave it in for like an hour, max 2. And then wash and shampoo as usual and continue on with my routine. It's not meant to hydrate your hair it's meant to strengthen it so no need to leave it in, plus the starch prevents the hair from actually breathing
I ended up in protein overload trying to save my bleach damaged hair, and it's not a fun thing to try to reverse. I also realized, during that time, that my hair is protein sensitive. I have 3a, 3b hair that loves a lot of moisture with just a very small amount of protein thrown in monthly. It takes me about 6-7 moisturizing treatment to balance out my one time a month mild-mod strength protein in a mask treatment, and, more like,10-12 moisturizing treatments if I use any of the stronger protein treatments like i.e.-Joico, ApHogee, or Emergence. Since learning this, it has made adjusting how often I use what type of treatment or rice water in my hair so much easier.

@QueenCoCoaMocha LOL you got roasted
@@shamellacampbell3034 Hahahaha 🤣
@@shamellacampbell3034 How? Are y’all a bunch of children?
It’s good to be cautious- more frequent treatments worked for me cos as a vegetarian, my hair can be a bit hungry for protein, and with a good conditioner I don’t get breakage
I have 4c hair and I used rice water every week and sometimes every 2 weeks during those weeks I had my hair in braids so every time I washed once a week sometimes every two weeks I’d use rice water. I haven’t noticed anything dramatic in growth to be honest but I’ve seen a little growth not sure I’ll give all the credit to rice water tho.
How long have you been using it
@@333erica I started around December of 2020 so 8-9 months at this point. I’d say my hair has grown about 5-6 inches. Rice water does help a little. me having 4c hair the rice water helps detangling on wash day. But I don’t think it’s the only reason my hair has growth 5-6inches.
i do it only on my scalp not my hair every otherday
i get nice growth
in the end of the week i do vinegar rinse
I use rice water treatments weekly. My hair feels so much softer and it makes my curls so curly.
*I love rice water for my hair it works magically😍😍🤗👍🏻*
I also used rice water on my hair and it work fine
I used it and my hair have a beautiful result growing healthy hair
Thank you, first time I used rice water result was hair so soft. I did another rice water treatment 2 weeks later, result hair extremely dry. Will try just once a month and see what happens
Is there a specific brand or type of rice long grain or short grain ????
Go girl making your own hair products yesss black business
hey Stephanie can 11 years old use rice water and your shampoo and condition
Thanks for the tip. My hair hates protein treatments
You could try Keratin treatments as well, makes hair really soft, shiny and strong. No side effects as well
@@servantamyplant4474 can you share some with me? Is Avacado a good mask of keratin to try?
@@ermelinda2223 keratine is in egg(shells). Protein feeds hair, Keratin strengthens the hair shaft itself. It works wonders! Brands like Chi and Biosilk sell special silk in bottles. A hair silk press involves Keratin and or silk aswell, after that you literally seal the Keratin or silk serum into the hair shaft by using first a föhn and secondly a styling tool. In this way the curls are spoiled with silkyness for days/weeks and afterwards your curls are really defined soft and healthy looking
Thank you so much!! I was about to use rice water to today before I saw your video,so thank you so much for warning us🧕🧕!!;-)
Can I use rice water every two weeks cus I get my hair beaded and I can't be bothered to take out the beads and wash my hair every two weeks also I loved it videos
Hi. I watched your other video in which you used rice water. In that video you washed your hair before applying the rice water. You used the rice water right before using your conditioner. So have you changed the sequence? Do you now apply the rice water before shampooing?
There are A LOT of vitamins and proteins in rice water that can help to stimulate fast hair growth
Some creators will tell you it is actually supposed to be for the scalp.
I have high porosity hair and my hair loves the rice water 💧
i need protien for my low porosity hair that gets brittle easily
Ty so much for the tip of a deep conditioner with the use of rice water. I haven't heard that anywhere else but it makes sense
I put honey and olive oil in my rice water is that ok?
Can we use jasmine rice? Or only white rice?
I’ve noticed that it has only happened to people with the same or similar type of curl. Correct me if I’m wrong 🤔
i dont know someone please tell me if rice water is good for relaxed hair my hair is relaxed.
Me too
Yes it is
Very informative your video, a lot of people get it wrong!
To avoid breakage apply grease first then rice water you could do it backwards too
Good advice..thanks
Please can I also use Andrelon shampoo and conditioner
hii can someone help me out, so i have really broken (bc of heat) curly hair, i use a mask out of egg, jogurt, olive oil, coconut oil, honey and a squeze of lemon 2 times a week(i also wash my hair 2 times a week) and my hair got much better after it + i use a Shampoo and Conditioner without silicons, parabens and all that stuff and after washing i use some oils for my hair and i wanted to try out rice water, would u use it in my case or would u recommend to not do it
My hair ladies is after chemo hair..Super thin hair.Do u all recommend??plz help!!!
Thank you for the video! Well needed information! Does alive vera help with moisturizing? ❤️🙏🏽
Thanks for watching! Yes, aloe vera is very moisturizing to the hair. You can either do a diy hair treatment such as aloe vera or avocado or you could simply buy a good moisturizing deep conditioner from your local beauty supply store. I also recently tried Alikay Naturals Avocado cream moisture repair mask and it felt really hydrating as well.
@@StephanieVoltaire
Awesome! Going to try both! Thank you!
Its broke my hair off and made it thin too but i think only because i tried to use it every three days plus my protein leave in which caused too much protein being inputted into my hair
Thanks, this video was so helpful, I had to subscribe to your channel, once again thanks within advance you answered alot of my questions...
Do you have a video on a list of proteins that we need to know that we might be using on our hair and didnt know? Cause i dont want to be overloading on protein not knowing what im doing. Im trying to learn about my hair and what to use and not or just use. Im low porosity but i keep hearing that aloe vera is harsh on low porosity hair and i'll be so sad cause i have a big jug of aloe vera juice sitting in my closet.
Very informative thank you.
Can you use rice water that been sitting for over 2 weeks?
Yes the Yao women leave there rice water sitting for a month that’s how they get their long hair♥️
Thank you for this video, this is very helpful!
Every week isn’t good for my hair I did it once a month now because I always have braid
Can you tell me more I have curly hair
I personal would not try the rice water thing I had relaxed hair and tried it after a few weeks my hair keep on breaking until i don't have any hair I had to cut it all off and am 6 months in my natural hair journey and loving it
I think it's because I had relaxed hair too much chemical cause I tried it recently in my natural hair and am seeing growth.
I have texturized and it worked really well for me.
@@fareedayusuf1426 you get perms?
Thanks for the video. However, I tried the rice water treatment today and my hair knots up so bad....... I lost so much hair today. I must mention that I left it on my hair for a couple of hours because I was busy. I also have relaxed hair. I just started with my natural hair journey. Please help!
RUclips sis.. it helped me alot
You left it on for way too long!
You left it on for too long, you're supposed to leave it on for minutes
Left it on for to long, that causes protein overdose
@@BITSimthabomb how long should it be for?
Thank you great vid Stephanie 👸🏽🤍🧿🧬🧬 u look amazing 🔐
After you do the protein treatment with rice water should I deep condition or use a regular conditioner?
I would recommend you deep conditioner to put that moisture back into your hair. I recently tried Alikay Naturals Avocado cream moisture repair mask and it felt really hydrating. I left it in only for about 10min and rinsed it out.Hope that helps!
Where can I get that shampoo
Thank you verymuch Sister Stephenie. You really try in dis your pieces of advice, and it realy helpful, you are so pretty and lovely. Please, how can i get dis your product the black soap and others? I love your hair and i want my hair to look exactly like your hair. I cut my hair before, l have not started plating the hair again, so, i want to start growing my hair again with this Rice water and these products, so, please how can i get dem?
I- already put it on ;-; oh nu my first time doing it ima just uhh tRy tO gEt RiD oF iT
Update?
I add onion water and aloe Vera water to my rice water and I’ve had no issues. I also don’t use that weird method of just adding water to rice and fermenting it. I use the Yao women recipe.
Can you give me more information on the onion water? How’d you do that, please :)
aleena vrxzy hi, I just use onions (white or red onion). Peel of the skin, put it in a blender, then use a cheese cloth to strain it and add it to my rice water. It has moisturizing properties.
I have been spaying it on my hair for 2 months I spray it twice a day a wash my hair 2 a week
Thank you so much!! 💕
Thanks for all your do
I'm using brown rice water right now 😭
My mo. Used rice water on my hair when i was yunger and nun happened i had a while head full of hair heathy ling hair
Hey does this apply to caucasian hair?
Thanks so much dear. God bless.
Yes! I have used avocado and aloe vera together as a deep conditioning hair masque. It was great!
have you tried beer on your hair? it makes your hair super shiny
If u do get protein overload how can u fix it I’ve had it in for two days no wash I’m gonna wash it a shit tone tomorrow because I feel like i have it now I’m scared
If you have protein overload, that means you need more moisture, so you should so a good deep conditioning treatment!
Anytime my hair is weighed down or overloaded with anything, I use a good clarifying shampoo and follow with a moisturizing conditioner
@@penne4107 what’s a deep conditioning treatment?
I was going to just use rise water good thing I wach this
I’m confused now.. so do you wash your hair before or after applying the rice water?
Everyone says different things in their videos.
You wash ur hair after using rice water
@@anonym2121 - ah alright, ty
@@nattypauline5918 You're are welcome!
@@anonym2121 do you wash it with shampoo and conditioner
It's a protein treatment that should be used only once or twice in a month. Use it more and you'll damage your hair.
What about ones or twice a week?
@@riannahdino324 no.... only once or twice a month.
