By doing this just go into your settings about phone click on build a couple times and you'll see that it'll say that you're so many clicks away from becoming a developer then go back into your settings go all the way to the bottom and you'll notice that there's a settings called developer options click on it scroll down until you find USB debugging mode select it and your problem should be fixed

Wold you know. I don’t want to brick the device and it still works, but eventually an update will be required for it to work.

You may have the wrong firmware, check the chipset to see the number reference.
