Building a 9 Second LS VTEC Engine for My Honda Civic

- Last winter I secretly started rebuilding my fully built LS VTEC engine for my Honda Civic hatch. Now the built B Series is finally finished and going into the turbo Civic. In todays video, I build the motor from the bare LS lock up. Then I transfer over all the parts needed from the stock GSR motor (rest in peace). Lastly, I install the newly built motor into the Honda Civic hatchback, fire it up and take it for its first VTEC rips around the block.
Yes I kept it NA in this video, but it will be going back to turbo in the next video or two. Very excited to feel some real power again.

Great build only thing I would’ve done differently was use the gsr head vs the b16 to get more mid range power and let the turbo do its thing up top

I’m pretty sure the LS engines use a longer stroke than the GSR and ITR engines, which is is why it makes more torque
Get ready for cage and all safety equipment specially if your shooting for 9s bro be safe!
Skunk2 instructions says not to use a impact on the cam gears bolts, definitely cams has a hair line crack and will probably break and bend valves fyi
it's important to check for oil clearance and tolerance on the built engine. But that being said, i've also seen these built engines last without a proper clearance checked during assembly hahaha.

please tell me you degreed the cams? I may have missed it but they definitely need it. also I would look into a ati damper. other than that solid build. I built my buddy's lsv and its making around 550 with the css block and similer head package.

Where did you find what lubricants you need for what type of use and the torque numbers of the bolts?

Sweet video and build. I'm wanting to build a b18 but I'm seeing builds with mixed heads and blocks and still don't really know the difference between Ls vetc and vetc on a B18 engine. I'm really looking at the b18c1 to build. I'm still learning and trying to find the best B18 setup for a 500-600whp daily/track. Does anyone have any advice?

Yea, well... apparently an open headers 2000hp v8 is all good but the 300hp fuel efficient honda is CROSSING THE LINE. (AVERAGE COP)
Engine should have 0 issue making 600hp.
Did you really not measure the bearings at all or am I missing something?
Make sure to change your oil as much as you can within the first 500 miles otherwise you should be good.

Who builds a ls/vtec turbo without a main stud girdle?
hey john im looking into an lsvtec build for my integra do you think its a waste of time or would you recommend trying to find a stock gsr motor swap instead, any suggestions would be appreciated thanks !
