    I think a lot of viewers would be interested in a Honda D or B series video, I know they’re old, and from what I’ve seen most of your content is built from customer vehicles. But I believe both engines are still relevant in today’s Honda society. So I don’t think I’m alone in my interest on this topic. It would be interesting to see the perspective of a master(s) in either boosted or N/A applications of either of these engines especially since many are experimental or home built.

    A thicker heavier pin will try to blow out the small bore of the rod on the upward stroke.
    Bloodviking, master engine builder

    • @motoiq
      @motoiq  11 месяцев назад +1

      I don't agree, and neither do the engineers at the top piston makers. The pin weight is way less and puts way less inertial stress on the rod compared to the piston on the upstroke and the cylinder pressure on the powerstroke. The load on the upstroke is also somewhat cushioned by the compression of the fuel air mix and the exhaust pressure. Thin pins are early 90's thinking and they flex and grab and spin the bushing out of the small end of the rod. The flex also stresses the pin boss of the piston. I have seen this happen many times and it also shows on FEA of the piston. It is the reason why the once popular, lightweight, thin, short and taper wall pins are no longer in fashion. Me, Motorsports Engineer.

    I'm guessing those anti detonation grooves also assist in heat dissipation by increasing the surface area between the crown and the first compression ring groove; somewhat like the base of a "turbopot"; can't wait to hear this engine when it's delivered. Those 62mm ITBs are going to add a lovely howl!
