Underrated
It's interesting that the casting of Joel for the show was pretty much right away while it a while to find Ellie's actress because the game was the reverse. Ashley Johnson got Ellie after being one of the first few people auditioning for the role whereas it took quite a few actors before Troy Baker auditioned and was picked for Joel.
Episode 2 was directed by the game's creator himself, NEIL DRUCKMANN

Bill & Frank's Storyline was Heartbreaking but I'm glad they found each other, & got to live fulfilling Lives. 🏳️🌈 🙆🏿🙆🏻♀️

They just killed them off in this and Bill doesn’t live the rest of his life as a miserable fuck because Frank killed himself because he hated his guts in the show they at least had a romantic scene and they died together. Yeah, it was gay as shit and weird, but it was better than the games not as depressing.

Damn, just this scene in 2:52 makes me think Kaitlyn Dever could absolutely be very close to Ellie's character from the game. The look, the voice, the chat. But now we know, creators didn't want characters to be that similar. Bella is good too.
Well the vid explained why those actors didnt get the Ellie role. They literally told you when the movie was an idea but by the time stuff got rolling they where too old not because they were too similar. 🙄
Before I watch the show i used to think (as many) Bella shouldn’t do this role because of her facial features (I never thought she’s ugly or something, rather I think she has her own beauty and she is a beautiful girl), but i simply thought she’s too different from the game.
After I watch the show i regretted anything I thought before: Bella did an amazing job as Ellie, seriously… I defy anyone to deny it… And the rest of the cast, the ambientations, backgrounds… Great great redemption of one of the most popoulars videogames ever.

I love the first two episodes. Not sure about the third one. As someone who has played the game a lot - yes I was interested in Bill's story but not to that extend. The actors did a great job. The story was beautiful. Yet I did not care too much as it took screen time from Joel and Ellie. And I really liked Ellie's interaction with Bill in the game.
Maybe if I did not know the game I could have enjoyed it more.
I didn't mind it (I too have played bot Last of Us games a lot), I was just more shocked with how much things deviate from the game in the show. When I first saw Bill in trailers I was like, "OH SWEET! We get to see Bill! Great casting!". But then realizing that the Bill we encounter in the game is actually being used as "20 years ago" bill, it threw me off. This is the first time I've been a hardcore fan of something that then gets turned into a show so seeing the differences is interesting.
But with all that, I still loved the episode. Yeah there was much less screen time for Ellie and Joel but hopefully the next episode is all them!

@@MrAirnike8 Haha, I still would not call the episode a bowl of poop though. But at this point I totally agree with you that the episode is overrated. Some people call it the best episode so far - wich seems ridiculous to me. Nevertheless I will say this: There might be a bigger picture and there will be some developments in future episodes that might justify episode 3 in a way we are not aware of right now.
I do like the messages of the episode. I appreciate the performances. If it was a Walking Dead episode it really wouldn't bother me at all. But TLOU and TLOU2 are my favorite games. As a player I care about Joel and Ellie, in the TLOU2 I also care about Abby an Lev. That's it. And I am so used to this "us against the world feeling" that I am really struggling with the amount of minutes used on Bill's story.
Guess this makes me sound more shallow then I hopefully am.

I knew nothing of the game before this show...after I saw a trialer,, I looked up the game and learned everything one could without playing...I even watched a Ps5 version walk-through on youtube and spent hours watching the whole story before the show...that being said, how good is this show? They have done a great job so far...and I LOVED episode 3,such great story telling....sort of like how The Sopranos PINE BARRENS was an episode that could've been its own movie, episode 3 is similar ( but I'm sorry,nothing imo is better than the sopranos, this is up there though ).

Bella is doing a great job as Ellie but out of 100s of auditions im not convinced she was chosen for her acting ability. Its due to her gender issues which fits in to the lgbtq craze.

@@iRemol They didn't show any sex. It showed them kissing, in bed together about to have sex, and (nearly) falling on the strawberries to have sex but there was nothing sexually graphic shown at all. And your being a doctor doesn't mean you can't hate people. I watch a hell of a lot of true-crime content and it's alarming how often doctors have a dark side.
As for me, I was tearful for a good twenty minutes of the episode, desperately trying not to sniff loudly and irritate my husband (I am a woman and he is a man before you jump to conclusions- this is clearly not our real name)! And we both thought it was a really lovely story. Totally not what we expected from Bills appearance, and have chatted about it at length.
