My favorites in this list, which I never used before...but... Schmincke Horadam glacier green (the gradiateion is absolutely stunning); American Journey coastal fog; and I saved the best for last - I am in love with A Gallo Olive green deep (oh my it is GORGEOUS)... However, I find that all 30 colors are lovely!
What a lovely relaxing way to start my Sunday :) I adore every one of your favourite colours and now you have me lusting for all these handmade beauties! My current favourites are Roman Szmal for their unusual colours and stunning granulation. Their greys in particular are superb and would be perfect for your palette! Your finished swatch reminds me of those moon pebble sweets from my distant childhood in the UK :)
I've chosen 15 of my favourite 'big brand' watercolours and 15 handmade watercolours to share with you in this video. I've now added a list of all the colours and brands to the description box underneath the video. :)
Hi Natalie...I really enjoyed watching you swatch your fave colors of 2023. Oh my...I've veered off into pastels lately. But I'm missing my watercolors. And while I have a good size stash of pro wcs, I don't think I have any of the super-lovely colors you swatched here. Some of the ones that stood out for me are Coastal Fog, Putty, Glacier Green, French Gray & Mahogany Brown. But really, I'd be delighted with all of the colors. And I love vivid and bright colors, but lately I've been happy with going a bit moodier and I'm also experimenting with graphite and Graphitint pencils too. Thanks for sharing ❤
A Gallo Olive green deep and Kwarts moss, please! I will happily use any mouldy, mossy, gloomy looking green :D Another delightfully relaxing video, Natasha. Thank you!
Oh my goodness! So many moody luscious colors! -BUT! I'm saving all my pennies for the Wallace Seymour paints. Can't wait to see that video. I've been obsessed with them since you first showed them to us. It looks like even their Quinacridone paints granulate. Can you imagine?!? It may be a bit too much excitement for me. Thanks for this gorgeous video, Natasha. I hope you are well! 🌜
Ha ha! It's coming. :) I think there seems to be a lack of Wallace Seymour videos on RUclips, so I'm hoping that this will be a good resource for people who want to try them.
@@NatashaNewtonArtyes please! I’m sitting on my wishlist of 13 colors but I’m not sure if I want to pay that much and have all the hassle with import till you do that review 😅
First of all, this was a complete eye-opener for me to learn about some of the artisan manufacturers you've mentioned here. Secondly, your swatching is a work of beauty in it's own right and so totally absorbing to watch. These particular colour choices are also beautiful and enlightening... thank you.
It's not entirely clear what kind of video you're suggesting we shoot, but be sure to shoot it! Your fans will watch it with great pleasure! I love your videos!
What you've painted here is so much like what I'm seeing this summer along the shore of Lake Superior where lake-smoothed agates are all over the beaches and shining up from the shallows of the amazing clear water, so many colors arraying themselves in subtle collections of darks and lights, contrasts and analogous. I think I can find much joy at home recreating the stones as individuals as you have here like a school yearbook. Thank you so much for such a lovely exercise, Natasha.
very interesting that you like muted and earthy colors a little bit more ... your stones or gem´s are looking very pretty in my opinion 😃👍 I prefer normal bright colors and also highly granulating colors with a special effects and moslty transperent, also if I own few more or less opaque colors ... many of my granulating pigment mixtures I like to play with are also looking a bit like muted colors.
Beautiful colorsI I only have two of them: A Gallo Notturno & Olive Green Deep. I love them both. From your swatches, Schmincke Glacier Green looks intriguing. My current favorite color from my palette is Daniel Smith Green Apatite.
I‘ve been obsessed with my Roman Szmal paints since I got them, especially Aquarius green, but I’m heading to England this week and I’ve ordered some Wallace Seymour paints to bring back with me and I can’t WAIT to try them. Also, thank you for showing some of the paints in your work at the beginning of the video. It’s helpful to see them swatched, but it’s also helpful to see them in action in a finished piece. Also, also, “notturno“ means night in Italian, so it’s quite fitting that you like to use it in your night landscapes!
Have a lovely visit to England and enjoy your new paints too! Wallace Seymour watercolours are quite unlike any other watercolours I have. I love them!
This video just caused me to create a new saved list called "Wants"!!! ❤️ Fabulous paint/pigment discoveries for those of us wanting to paint more natural hues. Thank you so much for sharing your pallettes and time😊
I really need one of the light greys you use for overcast skies. My green equivalents are Terre Verte and Davy’s Grey, which I use a lot for my nature paintings. They are great for subtle backgrounds, so a bluish version would complement them well. Thanks for the inspiration!
I have the Schmincke Horadam Glacier collection, and glacier green is a magic colour, I think. Thank you for a lovely video. I love your stone swatching 🥰
I am currently waiting for a delivery of deep deep light colours, including River. This looks so beautiful. Not my normal colours but they are so pretty together. It’s also lovely to see how you have used them in your work. Thank you. X
Just the swatch sheet is a piece of art 🥰 and honestly it's very hard to pick a favorite I can imagine how hard it was for you to just pick these colors!
I have always loved bright, vibrant colors. BUT I have to agree that these are really beautiful. And I have many of them, but don’t use them that much. I may have to dive into that more dark side!!!
Can we please go through all the Watercolor palette you own and then go through each individual colour? You do so many handmade water colours and I’m very interested as I’m very new to the area myself a handmade watercolours I’d like to land and I would love to see the whole collection.
Love seeing the handmade colors. I have a few of your A. Gallo favorites, like Harbor Blue and Noturno. Thank you for sharing. Want to try some of your handmade watercolor choices from Deep Deep Light and Red Clover Meadow.
So moody I love it. Still in love with the Daniel Smith Blue Apaptite it has such depth. It looks a though many of the hand made watercolours are somewhat opaque? Maybe a swatch over a black waterproof line would give us more visual info. Also I am wondering if the handmade w/c companies offer the pigment make up of their colours as that could help workout if there are opacity fillers. Thank you for all your work and sharing. .
Delightful! I’m a sucker lately for a mauve-y taupe, so the Putty watercolour is my fav. I really enjoy mixing Mahogany Brown with Buff Titanium and a touch of Potters Pink.
Always so calming to listen to you swatch colors. I have recently given in and tried A Gallo (and I now get why everyone is raving about them) and "Pietra Rosa" was an instant fave. I used it in a recent painting of mine where I was a bit stuck color-wise until I got this one. I did mix it further (rarely use the paints straight out of the pan) but "pietra rosa" is the "potter's pink" that I've always wanted. Probably too bright for you, but I love it:)
It's a very 'you' choice of colours, and has a lovely harmony, but they're also very similar... I can follow your arguments perfectly, for why you've chosen them 😊 But I think, one of your strengths is, that it still develops over time 😘 I couldn't find a 'one' favorite between them, but I'm possibly leaning towards the blue/green with that yellowish olive thrown in 😂 I love these swatching sessions, don't ever stop making them, please ❤
I kind of re-discovered a color I had for a long time in my palette Schmincke Horadam "perylene green". Enjoying the color so much again. ❤ I like to mix it with dabs of other colors and neutral tint too. Lovely video, I always enjoy the swatches and fun shapes. 😊
Your swatching videos are always so beautiful and calming to watch so thank you🙏🏼 A. Gallos, Olive Green Deep is a firm favourite of mine, along with Notturno. I think I've now fallen for Teal Blue and Putty😍 I would love to see a review of your previously reviewed main palette when you have the time❤️
The Random Grey reminds me of Shadow Violet from DS - I don't think I've seen you use it, but I think you would enjoy it. And yes to updated palette swatch!
Just discovered your channel, and so pleased I did. I’m very new to watercolour and all of your palette is very much the colours I love I would love also earthy brown/yellow /green tones (forestry I guess), do you use or recommend any that Would sit perfectly alongside this palette ? Also your pebbles/egg swatch would make a lovely art piece in itself . Just beautiful and calming 🌿
Welcome to my channel! :) I would recommend that you check out the different Schmincke Horadam super granulation colours. There are lots of interesting earthy browns, yellows and greens in that range.
Loving the look of arkar and deep deep light paints- I think I’m looking more for colour separation in my natural and granulating paint choices.Having said that my favourite new paint is Wallace Seymour Oxford mudstone a lovely pale grey- but you may already have that in your Wallace Seymour collection!
These are all so lovely! I don't know how on earth you manage to choose only 30! I've been fascinated lately by Daniel Smith's German Greenish Raw Umber. It looks a little different in different light and every time I use it, I'm a little surprised and delighted by it and wonder why I don't use it more!
Perhaps I can persuade you to make longer 45 mins videos. Your voice, description of pigments and general paint talk is the perfect lullaby for a peaceful beautiful sleep ❤️❤️

I don’t know when I became Natasha Newton with moody colours, but lately all I want to do is put Payne’s grey, moonglow , potters pink And eSumi Boku undo shadow palette to paper.. 🤣
Aarkar creations are no longer on ETSY, and could not find the brand website via google. Would be helpful in future videos if you could provide amlist of the colors you are recommending. Your handwriting is understandably tiny, but unfortunately hard to decipher when I pause the video.
I’m glad you didn’t put Wallace Seymour in here because I cannot for the life of me find them for sale. I need that A. Gallo Green deep now. 😅 Have you ever used Daniel Smith’s Green Apatite? That’s the green I’m always obsessed with. When I want it brighter, I’ll mixed it with a phthalo green or blue, but on its own, it is my favorite green. That and Schminke Cobalt Green Dark. Those are about as moody as I get. However you’ve definitely inspired me over the past year to add some moody colors to my palette.
WS are very hard to get hold of! I've only ever known of three places that sell them; Choosing Keeping in London, Art Req in Scotland, and an Ebay seller! I've tried a sample of Green Apatite but don't have a tube of it (I wonder if I thought it was too bright for me?). I have Schmincke's and Winsor & Newton's Cobalt Green Dark and love both of them!

@@NatashaNewtonArt Thanks a lot Natasha and I am here to always support you! 💕
oooo ... yummy!
Coastal Fog, Fossil, Putty, Lunar Violet, Olive Green Deep & Harbour Blue are doing it for me 😊
Your swatching videos are sooooo dangerous Natasha! 🤣 much love to you darling xx
:) xxx
Thanks for video. You have 5 greys?
I do! I actually have about a trillion.
I don’t know when I became Natasha Newton with moody colours, but lately all I want to do is put Payne’s grey, moonglow , potters pink And eSumi Boku undo shadow palette to paper.. 🤣
Ha ha!
What brand is the eucalyptus colour? It's my favourite.
Beyond Indigo! There's now a full list of all the colours in the description box underneath the video. :)
What beautiful swatches . They look like little muted gems . The colors are so ethereal and calming .
Thank you!
I heard grey of grey as grave grey. That was rather ominous 😂😂.
Ooh, that took a turn. 😂
@@NatashaNewtonArt 😂😂. I still hear it grave grey 🤣.
Me too😮
@@tammylanglois2602 Message from the other side, perhaps? 👻
Are you asking me to pick just one ?? I can pick 30 if that will work. 😉
Ha ha!
Aarkar creations are no longer on ETSY, and could not find the brand website via google. Would be helpful in future videos if you could provide amlist of the colors you are recommending. Your handwriting is understandably tiny, but unfortunately hard to decipher when I pause the video.
Check the description for a list, Julie!
Frame this artwork.
I want to hang it on the studio wall!
I’m glad you didn’t put Wallace Seymour in here because I cannot for the life of me find them for sale.
I need that A. Gallo Green deep now. 😅
Have you ever used Daniel Smith’s Green Apatite?
🅒🅞🅞🅛 I don't use that many colors, though
