I have that tea tin. I have zero Daniel Smith watercolors. My brother is a professional artist and also a procrastinator. I purchased two cute bamboo palettes, one for each of us. He has yet to return mine with 15 DS colors added. I am going to remind him today.
Hahaha I’m glad this helped remind you!
😂 Invested in knowing if you get your paints, now!
@@helencryersame 😂
Daniel Smith's Greens are so luminous and unique😍. Undersea Green and Green Gold are my favorites.
Okay now I have to get their green gold lol I have it in different brands but theirs looks stunning 🤩
@@katienelsonartist I have (and love!) their green gold. Now on my wish list is Serpentine Genuine.
Aussie Red Gold, the colour of our outback. Delicious
I do not think I have met a Daniel Smith color I didn't really like! To this list, I would add Indian yellow. I have been using it in some florals and find it blends well. I do not have Lavender, but am planning on getting that one soon, and learning the possibilities with it. Very nice video.
Thank you! I agree, I haven’t met a Daniel Smith color I didn’t like. Indian yellow is a beautiful color as well!
I love the Aussie Red Gold. It’s so rich.
agreed. It's stunning!
these colors are my favorite also. mayan yellow is a wonderful yellow.
Oh yes I believe someone else mentioned that color. It looks really beautiful 😊
this was so sweet and chill to watch. hopefully you do a palette swatch sesh. in the meantime, you're making me add more ds colours to my wish list lol
Aww thank you for such a lovely comment!
Another purple from DS that I really like is carbazole violet. It gets super dark but waters down to gorgeous shades of purple.
OH MY GOODNESS! I just looked up this color and it is gorgeous! Thanks for the great recommendation 🥰
Thank you so much for this video! ❤️❤️
It is so timely for me & has helped me finalize the colors I need to add to my palette- many of which I have had on my wishlist for ages. I have several of these colors & really enjoy them, so it seems that our color choices are similar. Thank you again!
You are so welcome!! Seeing videos of supplies in action has always helped me get a better idea if I want to purchase them. Thank you so much for watching!
My absolute favourite DS-colour is quinacridone gold!😍
It looks a bit more brown than Aussie red gold, I need to get my hands on it!
Loved this video, Katie! I have all these colors except Jadeite green and it’s been on my list for awhile. The prima tek colors are all beautiful…I’m a sucker for granulation too!
Thank you for the lovely comment!! 🥰 Yes the prima tek are so gorgeous!
Yikes! Because of this video I just ordered a set of 12 Daniel Smith granulating tubes. I chose a set that had many of your favorites. ❤
Haha oopsie! Don’t worry, you’ll love them! Was one of them the Jean Haines Green with Envy set? I feel like it’s a better way to get than buying them individually like I did
I know I don't know you, but I am so happy for you!
@@katienelsonartist I was first introduced to DS through Jean Haines' Master Artist Set. Teeny, tiny tubes of some of the prettiest colors -- many that you swatched here. Such gorgeous colors, and they mix to amazing results, too.
I have several DS tubes and you are spot on with choices here. I like these longer reviews. Best of luck to you on your channel.
Thank you so much! I’m new to making these kinds of videos and I have no idea what people prefer to watch, I only know what I like to watch and I long long art supply videos! 🥰
Sooooo lovely collection Katie :) All the best from Copenhagen!
Thank you!! 🥰
I just received a large shipment of Daniel Smith colours which were on sale at Jackson’s art. Can’t wait to start playing with them and putting them into new empty palettes I got for the purpose. 27 new colours in all… I had to restrain myself because every time I looked at my cart I ended up adding more. Lol. I’m happy to say I got most of the colours you mentioned.
Lovely video, you have a soothing voice and your beautifully neat studio space encourages me to tidy up my own a little! I subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your videos and wishing you continued success.
Aww thank you sooo much! I’m brand new to filming myself or my voice, your lovely comment made me feel so good 🥰
I’m so excited for you to get all of your paints!!! It’s like Christmas when your order comes in and you get to play with all of your new colors! So fun! 😊
I own all of these colors except the Perylene green. I do have this color from Winsor and Newton and love it. I’ve tested all my 170 watercolors that I own and moon glow has definitely changed. It doesn’t completely fade but loses the reds that you see in it. Cascade green is definitely one of my favorites. Another “red” I love is called Quinacridone coral from Daniel smith. It always come with me when I switch palettes.
Hi! Thanks for sharing your findings with moonglow. Quinacridone Coral was recommended more than once, it’s been on my wish list for a while but now I NEED it 😂
Hopefully not too soon, but the industry will no longer be making quinacridone colors. Stalk up and start looking for replacements. 😢
Perfect this are some of my favorites too, the only one you forgot it Cobalt teal, amazing to brighten up blues and you can mix tons of granulating colors with it.
I have a similar color from winsor and newton but I will definitely check it out, thanks!! 😊
I really enjoyed this video, Katie! Your calm voice and the pleasant but unobtrusive background music make it really restful. I'm also a DS fan. I have 3 of your favourites but unlike you, I have no greens at all in my palette because I prefer to mix them. However, your review is really tempting me to buy a couple - especially Perylene Green which looks gorgeous!
Wow, thank you for such a lovely comment! That makes me feel so good 🥰 I agree that mixing greens is great, but I just can’t help myself I just love all the DS greens! Perylene is a great one to try out!
I'm also used to mixing my greens until I purchased some undersea green. Now I'm hooked on DS greens. No amount of mixing on my own can give me that exact shade. You won't regret your purchase.
I just found you because of this video. Was hoping to see some of your florals in a little longer video than the shorts! You talked about using some of these in a floral(s) recently? Anyway hope to see your 20 min florals, thanks!!
Thank you for watching! I definitely plan to post some tutorials here in the near future. Florals are some I plan to do! 😊
@@katienelsonartist just found you too and would love to see some painting tutorials.
Gosh I have every single one of these except for the pyrule Scarlet lol. Check out some of! Roman Szmal Aquarius granulating colors like Aquarius green, Shadow Violet, Shadow Gray, and Misty morning. Check out some RUclips videos that show these guys! Also the rest of Daniel Smith 's. Granulating colors are pretty fabulous. Bloodstone, Blue appetite, Hematite and hematite violet to name a few. Oh and lunar Red Rock. Happy painting!❤
I definitely have Roman Szmal on my list! Their Aquarius line looks gorgeous. I also have bloodstone, blue apatite and lunar red rock. I love them all! Hematite and hematite violet looks great too 👍
I'm so in love with DS watercolor paint. I bought the sample dot sheets and they're fantastic. I'm collecting my favorites based on what I discover from the sheets. Undersea Green and Green Apatite Genuine are my favorite greens, but after this fabulous video, Cascade Green is next on the list. Perfect for my Evergreen Christmas paintings. Great swatch work my dear. Thanks and blessings to you!❤
Thank you so much!! 🥰 I agree they are so fantastic. The dot sheets are such a great idea, they really help you narrow down what to choose. I’m so glad you’re getting cascade green, you won’t be disappointed! It would be gorgeous in Christmas paintings.
I have never used titanium buff. I may pick up a tube soon. So many people seem to love it. I think your comments have me convinced. I too love the genuine paints, I'm also a rock lover in general and also love a good granulating paint.
I feel like granulating paints are meant for rock lovers! Yes if you get the chance to pick up buff titanium definitely try it out. It is so wonderful on its own or mixed with other colors. I have swatch pages of my colors mix with buff titanium and they’re so pretty!
So enjoyed this video!you explained these paints very well
Aww thank you so much! Im new to making review videos or videos with my voice in them so I really appreciate this! 🥰
This was very helpful thank you. I recently purchased Kyanite Genuine and Wow! It's similar to your swatch of Sodalite Genuine, however it contains a gorgeous natural sparkle that gives a outer space painting a wow factor! It's my new favorite!
Kyanite Genuine actually may be closer to Luner Blue, but with tons of sparkle!
Wow I had never seen that color, it looks gorgeous! Thanks for the recommendation!
Enjoyed this. I love Aussie Red Gold. It is stunning. I too also love cascade green and quin coral.
Thank you so much! So many people rave about quin coral I have to get it!
I use nearly all your favourites too. Quinacridone Coral is firm favourite of mine. Thanks
Okay that is the one color I have gone back in forth with so many times! I just need to get it already! 😂 it looks beautiful!
I have green apatite genuine, sodalite and piemontite, plus yellow ochre from D.S. and burnt sienna from Holbein in tiny palette which I call “Moody Autumn”. I have these minipalettes selected exactly as I feel 😅 my last one is Schmincke Neons. When I have minute for myself to paint, I just grab one which fits to my mood 😊 these natural colors from D. S. are lovely!!!
I love this idea! That sounds like a fantastic moody autumn palette! Now I miss fall lol. I would love to try more Schmincke paints 😊
@@katienelsonartist Schmincke does every year some limited edition. This is how I got my first palette and for very logical reason - I loved that metalic case 😂 - the selection of colours scream summer and I added few more to have my Happy Colors palette from Winsor and Newton and Van Gogh and I still love to use it. Schmincke Akademie grade has great quality and high pigmentation. It is joy! And if you prefer professional grade Horadam, they have amazing sets of granulating colors.
@@lenkaferreira5680 yes I’ve seen those limited edition colors before! I’ve been so close to buying them! Also I just love the idea of having all your paints categorized by moods or seasons. So wonderful!
I really enjoyed watching you swatching! 😂 Such beautiful colours. I didn’t realise how gorgeous granulated paints are. The finished page looks to me like little conical piles of mica. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you! 🥰 I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Granulating paints are one of favorite things about watercolor painting!
I have all of them and absolutely love all of them
Love that 🥰
I heard conserns about Moonglow too. I had it right next to my window on the wall for a year(the lightest area of my house) and it didn't change a bit. I had it for years love using it as my black.
Oh okay very interesting. Thank you for sharing! 😊
Yes I love ❤️ Daniel Smith and I try to get every color they have. 😂. They are so beautiful and one color can be used for so many different ideas on landscapes to beach ⛱️ scenes. I think they are the best. Never any cracking like you get with Winsor and Newton paints. Like van dyc brown. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.
Those are all my favs too
🤗
Cool video
Thank you!
Great video. Thanks so much! And where do you get your rings from..they’re gorgeous! Especially the one on your index finger 👉🏼
Thank you!! 🥰 I got my rings from the shop Gold Spoon Jewelry on Etsy!
Cool.. although non of them are made out of `semi precious stones`, I really wish DS would leave that marketing ploy behind. My fave DS orange is quin sienna))
Oh wow that color looks gorgeous. I really love the colors on the cusp of orange and red, I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation 😊
I have all those except pie mouth but my cascade does not look blue at all . I wish it did your looks so beautiful. Mine is pretty but yours is gorgeous. It looks so different i actually slowed down the video a screen shot it to see if was different in someway . My mom teases me because I buy all the blues and greens of Daniel Smith .
Wow that’s super interesting. I’ve had a couple tubes of cascade and haven’t noticed a difference. I wonder if they changed the pigments or formula. I can’t help but hoard blues and greens too 😂
These are all gorgeous but be aware that many of them have two or even three different pigments
Good to know, thanks!
Do you have a favorite yellow?
I really like hansa yellow light and nickel azo yellow 😊
@@katienelsonartist with space given to 5 greens, I was wondering why there was no yellow.
We have very similar preferences in colors.😅
🤗❤️
Damnit woman! I see a big spend arriving in my bank account!
Hahaha sorry (not sorry) 😂
No info on the paints in comments.
They should be in the description box right above the comment section 😊
I am going to get some Daniel Smith watercolours pretty soon! Those are beautiful colours!
Yay! I hope you love them!
