    I Love watching swatching videos! Thanks for sharing. You did an outstanding job. Beautiful. I remember when Quinacridone Gold and Quinacridone Gold Deep was made with one single pigment. PO49. I still have a few tubes of it plus some Sap Green and Quinacridone Sienna that was made with it. It's too bad it was discontinued back in 2010. It's not replaceable even though they tried by using PO48 with PY150.. Daniel Smith announced they were finally all out of the last of the stock by 2012. Then finally the tubes stopped being seen. Now that the PO48 is going, I wonder what they will use to replace it.

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for your kind words! It's indeed unfortunate that PO49 had to be discontinued a while back. Fortunately, I stocked up! Sadly, it appears that PR206 and PO48 are gradually making their exit from the market as well. I try to purchase these pigments whenever I can. Nowadays, although I still have Daniel Smith's PO49, I absolutely prefer the richness and vibrancy of Della Magna's PO49 watercolor. It's a staple on my palette, both on its own and as a mixing color. Thank you again for your kind words and for being here!

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  11 месяцев назад +3

      That is not impossible to happen. Some Quinacridones have been phased out and some are in the process of being discontinued due to the automotive industry's low to zero demand for them. It is saddening but that is just the reality of things.

  • @creativesolutionstoart

    Beautiful, I love Quinn acridone colors!! Quinn Scarlet and Quinn coral are my favorites… They are very useful and portraiture… I also love Quinn pink, but the tube I got had a very strong metallic smell, it contaminated my whole pallet and I couldn’t use it or it would give me a headache! I assume it went bad? I didn’t know this could happen with watercolors and I’m assuming it’s just Quinn acridone because it smelled like the inside of an automotive garage… I tried to write to Daniel Smith about it but they never responded :-( I’ve been reluctant to buy that color again but I think it was just a bad tube. Thank you for the video!

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Год назад +3

      Thank you! Happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet and Quinacridone Burnt Orange are my most used ones from this collection. So sorry about the "very strong metallic smell" incident and for lack of response from Daniel Smith. However, I am also grateful that you mentioned it because now I know that it is most likely a universal event. Like you, I thought I received an "odd" tube. Three Quinacridones (Quinacridone Rose, Quinacridone Pink, and Quinacridone Fuchsia) came with a similar odor that challenges one's tolerance. Worse, it persists even after several reactivations or rewetting processes! It makes you think that the lingering, distinctive smell emanates from the pigment and not from other paint elements. I am confident that this is not supposed to be the experience and let's hope that Daniel Smith addresses it for future buyers.
      Thank you for being here and for sharing this information with me!

    • @creativesolutionstoart
      @creativesolutionstoart Год назад

      @@stiviwonders yes I hope they address it to because these paint tubes are not cheap! :-) and thank you as well for letting me know that you’ve also had this experience, I will be checking each tube as I buy it now so I can send it back in a timely manner :-)

    Just found your channel by accident. Subbed. The quinacridones and (phalos) are my favorite pigments. I love the mixes U did of quin fushia + kyanite, and quin rose + blue apatite genuine, to achieve a dusky purple. I had stocked up on PO49, as I've always loved the color and the mixes I can get with it. I had to empty all my tubes into a few pans, containers with lids, etc. If left in the tubes the binder and pigment would separate and dry; making the paint almost useless. T Y for this lovely video. Looking forward to watching more of them.

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Год назад +2

      Thank you for being here and for sharing your insights! The Quin. Fuchsia and Kyanite mix is stunning! I will do my best to capture this in photos, once I upload the swatches on my website, but the natural sparkle from Kyanite beautifies this mixture in a whole new level. This is on top of the mild granulation from the natural pigment (Kyanite). I have PO49 (from other brands) and I love them all. It's a true versatile pigment that enriches other colors when used in mixes.
