Welcome to the Daniel Smith Family! I came across DS right in my beginning stages of watercolor over 3 years ago. Since then we had a love/hate relationship due to the hardness of the watercolor on my pallet. This past summer, I bought some sets I have been wanting for a long time from Blick, Amazon and Amazon Japan. I fell in love with DS all over again and I have notice their formulation change a little for the better! So congratulations on your decision in buying different sets...a little goes a long way. Enjoy them! Maria
I too am just beginning to discover the magic that Daniel Smith paints has to offer! I've only got a few colors for now, but as time goes on I can see myself replacing ALL my current brands with this one brand. A tiny bit of paint goes a LONG way too! I am a new subscriber too!
Thanks for subscribing! Yes, you're not wrong. These paints are soooo pigmented! I had just poured them not long ago, so a bit more than intended stuck to my brush at times. It's also nice to find some quality paints with different price points also. I don't regret getting Deep Deep Light or Schmincke, but man they're pricey.
So fun watching you experience my favorite paints for your first time! I’m an ambassador for DS and really enjoyed this watching your video! So well done and GORGEOUS swatches! 🎉
Daniel Smith's Shadow Violet might be my favourite paint of all time! It's granulating and when used with plenty of water, the pigments separate to reveal blues and pinks.
You're welcome. It depends on what you mean by permanent. They can re-wet and be worked again on the paper. If you mean fading over time, they are rated to be pretty permanent.
As a long time lover of Daniel Smith Paints, I welcome you!!! There are plenty of wow and magical colors to explore. ❤ I know you may not like the Phthalo Green, it is a wonderful color for mixes! Try mixing with the Trans Red Oxide to get a dark black. Also you can use the abbreviation for the Burnt Orange and just say Quin 😊 Quinacridone (quin ack re dohn) is the science name for it molecular structure.
When you mix Transparent red oxide and Ultramarine blue it makes a beautiful Paynes grey! Also, try swatching the Serpantine green it granulates so beautifully, your swatch cheated that color of its beauty!

I have about 20 Daniel Smith Extra Fine tubes. I am adding to my Winsor & Newton Professional tubes. I’m very satisfied with the performance. Did you run this watercolor paper through your printer? I’m impressed. I looked at your website. Fabulous talent. I am an intermediate elementary SPED teacher, but I take a small palette and journal to school to enjoy painting a little during my lunchtime. New subscriber! 🎨
Thank you so much! Yes, I ran this through my fancy art print printer.... after trying it with my office-type printer and nearly broke it lol. (It's funny now but man I was freaking out with the noise it made.) Taking a small palette to school is a great idea! I'm going to try that. My school is right next to a park, so I might take my lunches and a palette out there when it warms up.
Gorgeous paints!

It's good to hear about the formulation changes! I'm definitely looking forward to using these. Thanks for watching! :)

Thank you! I'm so excited to learn more about them. 😊
I love all of the greens... might just have to go pick up a couple more, lol.
@@wildflower1397 I would not judge you for adding more greens 😆

Oh, good to know. I'll look into it. Thanks :)
Thanks for showing these on the paper. I like the India Yellow and Burnt Umber.
You're very welcome. It was fun to do. Both of those colors were very pretty.
Kiwi made my birds chirp!😂
😆 🐦
I really love the genuine stone paints from DS, though as a geologist I might just be biased
Ha! That’s really cool. What kind of work do you do as a geologist?
@@AuloriasArtI’m studying as a paleontologist. A lot of the earliest pigments humans have used were rocks! (Shout out to ochre my beloved)
Thank you for sharing this information. Are these watercolors permanent when dry.?.

Oh, that's a shame. I'll have to go back and try it again. Thanks for letting me know. :)
Hello, thx for this video..Is it possible that you got some Rhodonite in your Piemontite? The red undertones are the same in both…? Thx again
I suppose it’s possible but I’m not sure at this point. I would need to swatch them again. I don’t think they mixed when I put them in pans.

@@sarahmitchell9247if so, it’s a beautiful mix!
