I like how all of these are granulating. The best for last! Buff titanium is my most used color and because it's one of those mixing colors that's saved me lots of money because I can mix any light hues like Naples yellow light, lavender, etc as well as make anything neutral/natural for landscapes.

I have never used titanium buff. I may pick up a tube soon. So many people seem to love it. I think your comments have me convinced. I too love the genuine paints, I'm also a rock lover in general and also love a good granulating paint.
I feel like granulating paints are meant for rock lovers! Yes if you get the chance to pick up buff titanium definitely try it out. It is so wonderful on its own or mixed with other colors. I have swatch pages of my colors mix with buff titanium and they’re so pretty!

I have green apatite genuine, sodalite and piemontite, plus yellow ochre from D.S. and burnt sienna from Holbein in tiny palette which I call “Moody Autumn”. I have these minipalettes selected exactly as I feel 😅 my last one is Schmincke Neons. When I have minute for myself to paint, I just grab one which fits to my mood 😊 these natural colors from D. S. are lovely!!!

This is how I got my first palette and for very logical reason - I loved that metalic case 😂 - the selection of colours scream summer and I added few more to have my Happy Colors palette from Winsor and Newton and Van Gogh and I still love to use it. Schmincke Akademie grade has great quality and high pigmentation. It is joy! And if you prefer professional grade Horadam, they have amazing sets of granulating colors.

I'm so in love with DS watercolor paint. I bought the sample dot sheets and they're fantastic. I'm collecting my favorites based on what I discover from the sheets. Undersea Green and Green Apatite Genuine are my favorite greens, but after this fabulous video, Cascade Green is next on the list. Perfect for my Evergreen Christmas paintings. I have all but four of these colors. Will definitely have to add Cascade Green, Undersea Green, Imperial Purple, and Aussie Red Gold. Daniel Smith and A Gallo are my favorite watercolors. If you haven't tried A Gallo, they are luscious.

I have that tea tin. I have zero Daniel Smith watercolors. My brother is a professional artist and also a procrastinator. I purchased two cute bamboo palettes, one for each of us. He has yet to return mine with 15 DS colors added. I am going to remind him today.

I'm also used to mixing my greens until I purchased some undersea green. Now I'm hooked on DS greens. No amount of mixing on my own can give me that exact shade. You won't regret your purchase.
I do not think I have met a Daniel Smith color I didn't really like! To this list, I would add Indian yellow. I have been using it in some florals and find it blends well. I do not have Lavender, but am planning on getting that one soon, and learning the possibilities with it. Very nice video.

Can’t wait to start playing with them and putting them into new empty palettes I got for the purpose. 27 new colours in all… I had to restrain myself because every time I looked at my cart I ended up adding more. oh no 🥹i have many of the paints you mentioned but dont like them at all 🥲mostly the granulating colors and duo tones. but i do love Daniel smith's quinacridone colors and earth tones. lovely video!
Thank you! It sounds like you just prefer their paints with cleaner washes and that’s okay! I know a lot of artist who dislike granulating paints. I recently got their quinacridone coral and it is absolutely beautiful.
@@katienelsonartist yes i adore their quinacridone coral! i think certain granulating colors are way too hard to reactivate in my climate, like lunar blue and undersea green, i get a bit frustrated 😅so i prefer paints with high tinting strengh and rewet easily, like indigo or indanthrene blue :p maybe lunar blue is not meant to be dried in a pan? 🤔
@ultramarine_finest do you mist your dried paints with water before painting? I find that really helps with those colors that are harder to reactivate. Of course using them straight from the tube is the always the best way to get the most intensity.
@@katienelsonartist yeah i used to! but i stopped doing that because it makes other paints a bit too easy to pick up too much, especially the ones with honey in them😅i had them stuck on my wrist a few times...yeah i do agree, i'll have to find ways to use them from the tube in the future.

This was very helpful thank you. I recently purchased Kyanite Genuine and Wow! It's similar to your swatch of Sodalite Genuine, however it contains a gorgeous natural sparkle that gives a outer space painting a wow factor! It's my new favorite!
I heard conserns about Moonglow too. I had it right next to my window on the wall for a year(the lightest area of my house) and it didn't change a bit. I had it for years love using it as my black.
Perfect this are some of my favorites too, the only one you forgot it Cobalt teal, amazing to brighten up blues and you can mix tons of granulating colors with it.
Love your choices I have most and love them. Some are on my list. I would reccomend looking into Rockwell Canada paints some beautiful granulating colors.

I own all of these colors except the Perylene green. I do have this color from Winsor and Newton and love it. I’ve tested all my 170 watercolors that I own and moon glow has definitely changed. It doesn’t completely fade but loses the reds that you see in it. Cascade green is definitely one of my favorites. Another “red” I love is called Quinacridone coral from Daniel smith. It always come with me when I switch palettes.

I think they are the best. Never any cracking like you get with Winsor and Newton paints. Like van dyc brown. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.
Gosh I have every single one of these except for the pyrule Scarlet lol. Check out some of! Roman Szmal Aquarius granulating colors like Aquarius green, Shadow Violet, Shadow Gray, and Misty morning. Check out some RUclips videos that show these guys! Also the rest of Daniel Smith 's. Granulating colors are pretty fabulous. Bloodstone, Blue appetite, Hematite and hematite violet to name a few. Oh and lunar Red Rock. Happy painting!❤

I have all those except pie mouth but my cascade does not look blue at all . I wish it did your looks so beautiful. Mine is pretty but yours is gorgeous. It looks so different i actually slowed down the video a screen shot it to see if was different in someway . My mom teases me because I buy all the blues and greens of Daniel Smith .
Wow that’s super interesting. I’ve had a couple tubes of cascade and haven’t noticed a difference. I wonder if they changed the pigments or formula. I can’t help but hoard blues and greens too 😂
Cool.. although non of them are made out of `semi precious stones`, I really wish DS would leave that marketing ploy behind. My fave DS orange is quin sienna))
The Primateks are a sham in my opinion. The way they market them makes people go "wow, this semi precious rock makes gorgeous paint" but in actuality, only a small amount of mineral is used and the majority of the paint is just a mixture of other single pigments. Nothing against people that like the mixes and added granulation, but it feels like falling for a marketing ploy. Similarly, very many Daniel Smith colors are convenience mixtures. Aussie red gold is an example. So is imperial purple, which is just ultramarine and quin rose. Why spend the money??

You're putting way too much paint right out of the tube on the paper, it is painful to watch, because it's not showing the translucent and flowing quality that watercolors actually have
I agree, I definitely didn’t show how sheer and translucent these watercolors can get. It’s one of my very first RUclips videos. I’m learning. Next time I make a watercolor video I plan to do a better job of showing the range of translucency to opacity.

Another purple from DS that I really like is carbazole violet. It gets super dark but waters down to gorgeous shades of purple.

I have all those except pie mouth but my cascade does not look blue at all . I wish it did your looks so beautiful. Mine is pretty but yours is gorgeous. It looks so different i actually slowed down the video a screen shot it to see if was different in someway . My mom teases me because I buy all the blues and greens of Daniel Smith .
Wow that’s super interesting. I’ve had a couple tubes of cascade and haven’t noticed a difference. I wonder if they changed the pigments or formula. I can’t help but hoard blues and greens too 😂
Cool.. although non of them are made out of `semi precious stones`, I really wish DS would leave that marketing ploy behind. My fave DS orange is quin sienna))

The Primateks are a sham in my opinion. The way they market them makes people go "wow, this semi precious rock makes gorgeous paint" but in actuality, only a small amount of mineral is used and the majority of the paint is just a mixture of other single pigments. Nothing against people that like the mixes and added granulation, but it feels like falling for a marketing ploy.
Similarly, very many Daniel Smith colors are convenience mixtures. Aussie red gold is an example. So is imperial purple, which is just ultramarine and quin rose. Why spend the money??

You're putting way too much paint right out of the tube on the paper, it is painful to watch, because it's not showing the translucent and flowing quality that watercolors actually have
I agree, I definitely didn’t show how sheer and translucent these watercolors can get. It’s one of my very first RUclips videos. I’m learning. Next time I make a watercolor video I plan to do a better job of showing the range of translucency to opacity.
