Akatsuki had a dope soundtrack
Akatsuki's goal of world domination was one of the most ambitious in any fictional universe. This alone sets them apart from other villain groups. They were not just trying to control one city or one country; they wanted to control the entire world, which made their mission more significant.
Secondly, the characters in Akatsuki were specially crafted. Each member was unique and had a backstory that was slowly revealed throughout the series, making them more mysterious and interesting. Furthermore, they were all powerful and had their unique abilities that were formidable even for the main protagonists.
Finally, Akatsuki was smart and well-planned. They had their secret bases all around the Ninja World and worked in isolation to achieve their overarching goal. Furthermore, they had a strict hierarchy, and everyone understood their role, which made them work efficiently.
If they were smart or well planned, they wouldn't have struggled as much as they did, let alone lose any fights.
Domination is nothing special for villains. The most ambitious in any fictional universe? Not even close.

The Phantom Troupe's "infighting" was a result of a conflict among childhood friends about what's best for the longevity of their organization: following the rules or abandoning the rules and saving their leader and beloved childhood friend. A conflict which parallels Kurapika's own moral dilemma of pursuing his revenge or saving his friends. This infighting only adds thematic depth to the Phantom Troupe and makes them come across as real people with real conflicts. I prefer groups that have real human flaws, weaknesses, and tragedies over groups with an assortment of OP badasses that have no chemistry with one another. Phantom Troupe has the former list of attributes in spades.
The thing about the Troupe is that despite all the infighting, they have deep set bonds of comradery that surpass any of the other teams on the list by a country mile. Families have infighting, but they are still family. The troupe is still one of the most powerful organizations in HxH event after Kurapika took out a few of their members because of those ties. The Espada (and even the Akatsuki) always felt like a monster of the week checklist for the heroes to get through, I never felt like they had any depth.
@@calar8 Agreed on all counts. Akatsuki and Espada have some neat dynamics here and there, but they simply aren’t as cohesive as the Phantom Troupe. And hell, I can admit that the Phantom Troupe as individuals aren’t all that memorable (barring a few like members Hisoka, Chrollo, and Uvogin), but the group as a whole is just a stroke of genius.
Fax. phantom troupes the best....their childhood in meteor city as shown in manga really is😂good and the chemistry between them is great and not everyone was a great fighter but they had great abilities as a whole

@@calar8 but have to agree that akatsuki had some depth.....all the characters had different background and all characters were lovable....they all had different values and they all represented what are wars waged for....itachi represented-family protection,,,hidan-religion,,,,,kakuzu-money ,,,,pain- maybe pain,,,,obito-love,,,,deidara-art and literature maybe,,,sasori and konan and kisame don't know.....and I love the fact that kisame being the second last member after obito still tried his best for akatsuki and died was just unexplainable...they were aiming world domination for peace and had crazy abilities for even the most powerful ninjas introduced at that time....and all of them died accomplishing their missions and their last moments were just great....be it sasori,deidara,itachi,pain,obito or kisame

@@tiradeee I honestly don't understand when people say that Espada is the greatest because I never saw any real chemestry between them or real attachment, it was basically Ulqiorra and Grimmjow and a bunch of side side-characters maybe I missed something idk

In my opinion, I think The Quincy are 10x more badass and menacing as a villain group than the Espada but I am aware you are not yet caught up with Bleach. I think you would agree when the time comes

I would use tbe genral term Quincy, but id say the Sternritters, im sure thats what you actually meant, its just the quincy is the whole race, not really a villain group, but idk if they are above the espada though.

I would say the Espada were never really meant to "work together". They constantly undercut each other and messed each other up because they're meant to be wild and savage, to contrast the captains. They weren't really a group, but more of a bunch of guys forced to work together under a boss they all hated. Also, Aizen's rankings were 100% just to troll and mess with them lol.
That's what made them cool, but as a team I prefer the Sternritters. They were a lot more professional together and straight up worship Yhwach like a god-king.
Rob's analysis and reasoning for every anime is so thoroughly studied and researched that it's amazing. He is almost like an anime critic at this point.
Not really. He made some very obvious mistakes. For example, only a couple of Espada actually respected or looked up to Aizen. Namely Stark and Zommari. Several even hated him. Like Grimmjow and Barragan.

Lol what? How are the yonko a group they are enemies. It would have made more sense to name a specific yonko group and even then only 2 of them qualify as villains. As for the admirals i dont know if i can call them a group,thats more like a title. The marines are more of an otganisation and some people might disagree in calling them villains caude they have good intentions. The world government are who youd call villains including Imu
Yonko are not a group. They don’t work together or even talk to each other.

I love Robert's 10 being in this vid. TLOU is, along with Gash Bell, my favorite anime of all time. Speaking of Gash Bell, I love the ancient mamodo as a villain group, not really because of them actually working like a group, but because of how formidable they make Zofis, the main antagonist of the arc, look.
Also Varia from katekyo hitman Reborn are definitely up there in my list, as well as the millefiore family

I love the fore force love shown on this video. Aside from Fire force being a sleeper on anime, Shinra vs Sho is one of the most underated fights in anime.

This is gonna sound controversial, but for me, my top 5 are:\
The quincies (bleach)
Akatsuki (naruto)
Espada (bleach)
Homunculi (FMAB)
Admirals (One piece) (if you consider them villains)
Reason i put the quincies above akatsuki, is just because when i read the manga they made me feel like they are extremely powerful and unbeatable and everyone one of them had a different charisma and charm to them idk how to explain it, non the less i think yhwach carried, that final fight was something else, im not gonna elaborate since its sopilers, but brace yourselfs, when is gonna be animated it will break the internet fo sho
If this list included bleach sternritter , the fight against the Quincy sternritter would be a whole different story
As they are even more haxed than the espadas themselves 😂

Edit: After much consideration, I think I like the BB pirates better. They just pose much more of a threat to the overall OP world, and are pretty much going to be the endgame bosses.

Cp9 are not even close to the black beard pirates, they were just a faction at water 7, they had great chemistry and motivation, but they were just not that antagonistic, didnt really have any serious overarching themes.
Akatsuki as a villain group made the show "Naruto" , in my opinions ,villains need to be as good as the protagonists for very good entertainment,
I love that one of the semi finals matches was just the seven deadly sins vs the ten commandments

W vid, agree with akatsuki being the best villain group. It literally doesn't matter if akatsuki is the cliche pick, they are absolutely elite and should be respected. To think that Naruto probably doesn't even make it to my top 10 fav anime and I still agree on akatsuki being the best tells me that if it wasn't for them Naruto might've not even ended up in the top 20.
As a naruto fan i agree with that, like all of naruto and shippuden was the akatisuki was the organization of the main and biggest villains and trouble in the series, without the akatisuki naruto would have fall flat.

Bleach does an excellent job with villains. The Espada and the Sternritter as well as their bosses Aizen and Yhwach are all so elite.
I would have chosen something different for one piece, we still don't know much about the blackbeard pirates, apart of their members and devil fruits we don't know almost anything, we don't even know how they fight, I would personally have chosen the seven warlords, they are much more iconic and I think they could even have beaten akatsuki. Also now that you have done a villain team bracket, could you do a protagonist team bracket?, like the straw hats, team 7, the Z fighters, the black bulls, etc.

I think you also need to put into consideration how much depth the characters in the group have a bit more analysis on different characters and I agree with Akatsuki being the best

Dude but the akatisuki though they really came through, even look at the 2 man teams the akatisuki developed, their powers actually help each other like for example hidan and kakuzu alone require all of team 10 including asuma who died to hidan, includes shikamaru one of the smartest guys ever, choji and ino with great abilities, kakashi and naruto both close to kage level with their stronger attacks, yamato whose relative to a kakashi slightly, and even sakura and sai for extra back up, and if the rasenshuriken failed, whose to say who kakuzu could have killed? Hidan is a clown but with his help kakuzu almost beat kakashi and almost spoiled shikamarus plans and killed asuma, beat chirugu, took on aoba and the 2 chunin, it took all them very powerful ninja just to beat 2 guys and thats because obito and pain knew their strength and weaknesses and know them combined would be unstoppable, and obito did this with all the other sasori and deidara combined killed the kazekage, almost wipe out the sand took on team 7 and team might guy, and the most they could do was killed sasori who was depressed and wanted to die, like thats just 2 ninjas vs 2 teams plus back up, i dont even have to get intoitachi and kisame and what they did together or on their own, or even what pain and konan were able to pull off together, or pain by himself, like compared to the hermonculi conquoring a country, the akatisuki forced the whole world on their knees to give up conflict between the villages just to stand chance, thats was what the kage summit was for and remember even then kisame and obito were still alive putting in work, the akatisuki is just #1 no one drives the plot like they do, what makes them interesting is they weremt some aliens from outerspace that humans have to fight, they were born and bred from the shinobi system and the wickedness of the shinobi world shaped them and they just combined and fought against the whole world by themselves, easily the best villain group
I don't think being born and bred into whatever adds to your greatness , even if you're an amoeba,alien,a chicken ,as long as you have a great goal, you're smart ,great reasoning behind your goal , a plan , mostly three dimensional , as a villain group or an individual villain ,you're top tier , what kind of character you're by origin really doesn't matter.
@@kamadothorfinn8166 This is incorrect though. Origins form a character's motivations and ideals. Nagato witnessed tragedy and wanted to save the world from it. Naruto was alone and wanted everyone to like him. Kabuto had no memories and desperately searched for someone who could tell him who he was meant to be. Given the type of themes that Naruto and Naruto:Shippuden tackle (Conflict and Peace, History Repeating, The hypocrisy of the human condition.) The main villains having a good origin story that develops into a strong worldview and set of goals is essential to making them fit into the story and be great characters. It's no surprise the Akatsuki with the weakest backstory (Hidan, Zetsu, Kakuzu) are also the least popular.
I love the Akatsuki. Personally, I'm a big fan of Aftokrator, FUG, Frieza's group, and the Akuma Chojin.

The Espada were never meant to be a group with perfect chemistry...even if Aizen wanted them to be like brothers with eachother it would not work..they are hollows thats what they do they fuck eachother up to become stronger.. but the think that Aizen did is he basically made them have the Blue Lock relationship if you know what i mean.. the one constantly wants to devour the other to become stronger...and it kinda worked..thats the only way that a group made of Hollows would work anyways.... for me they are more iconic than the Akatsuki but yeah that just me....
but i can't wait for Rob to redo this villain bracket a couple of months later once all The Sternritters from TYBW are revealed...they are fucking insane dude

Honorable Mention to The Homunculi there like Weaker Ten Commandments for me
Edit: The Phantom Troupe losing to The Espada is some major cap, the Phantom Troupe and The Strawhat Pirates are the same to me there is no difference except the leaders IQ, Chrollo is friends with all of The Phantom Troupe and they are child hood friends they started the group making Dubs for plays to make the people of their village happy, Luffy was friends with his crew and they look up to him and he inspires them, Same for The Troupe Chrollo is looked favorably upon by his Crew, The Strawhats have a intresting cast of characters and powers, like a stretchy boy, Lost Swordman, a creative slingshot weilding sniper, a chef who throughs hands without using his hands, a woman who can cause mini weather effects, A Drug addict Reindeer, a woman who doesn’t throw hands despite only using hands, a cyborg, a skeleton, and a Fish Man, while the Phantom Troupe has (in the order of number), Drip God, Ultra Instinct Swordsman, Quiet Kid, Doflamingo’s Daughter, A Zol… wait what, a guy who’s power is stretching his arm (somehow the most broken Nen Ability since it can be used infinitely), “OMG” Guy aka always on their phone, a machine gun guy, Janitor, hole man, and “got folded by a shovel wielding Waifu”
If you see a Difference between The Strawhats and The Phantom Troupe your either are thinking to much (like the amount of people with blonde hair) or your making up stuff their both the same crew yet I don’t see anyone putting The Strawhats below The Espada

I think there were better villain groups in one piece than the Blackbeard pirates like:
-The Admirals
-The yonko (depending on if u consider them villains)
-The warlords
-The big mom pirates
No hate but I think the warlords are actually pretty bad as a villain group. Accomplished nothing and got disbanded. They almost never talked lol

Though frieza was not great leader but he was strong enough to destroy earth and most of his soldiers could fly and were strong I think he would definitely win against Blackbeard pirates.Literally he was called emperor of the universe ☠️

Now depending on how Oda write the blackbeard pirates later on in the one piece story, they might be on a greater scale than the akatisuki, similarly to the akatisuki the blackbeard crew has relations to all factions of new world and grand line, example blackbeard has connections to whitebeard pirates as well as to shanks, Aokiji has connections to the navy and all the admirals as well as the criminals of impel down, in terms of association the blackbeard pirate is connected to all the o e piece world, plus tgey done a lot of crimes unforgivable by many, the goal is possible becoming not only the king of pirates, but the king of navy, world government and all of the world, so due to one piece not finished as yet, there is a chance that blackbeard pirates might be top 2 atleast top 3 by time one piece is finished.
disagree only because they don't have the same long term presence, we were introduced to akatsuki members super early on in naruto, and introduced to aizen, gin and tosen, leaders of the espada a long time ago as well. the blackbeard pirates haven't had much screen time apart from teach yet
