I was struggling for ages trying to see where I was going wrong from the instructions but looking at it through this video helped me see what I wasn't doing. Thank you.
I just keep watching it over and over again. I think part of the problem is that it is nerve racking, because u just want to start sewing, at least that was my problem. Try to relax and watch it over and over again and then take a break, until it seems easy ;) one step at a time.
Excellent! No words needed in my case... I did a run-through on my own using the paper manual that came with the machine and I had alright progress, however it all fell apart with the bobbin at the underside of the needle which just would not "catch" the upper thread. This video came to my rescue 100%, and after watching it and pausing it at the parts that I got wrong initially, all went smoothly and I sewed my first small piece. SUCCESS! I'm grateful to Nordicsinger; danke :)
Okay, seriously, I grew up sewing with my mom on her expensive machine and couldn't figure out why my threading was nesting even with the DVD and manual the machine came with. This video is the only reason I now have nice, straight stitches. Thanks so much! Although next time, go just a teeny bit slower?
This really helped me out a lot. I didn't have the manual to my Uncle's machine that was given to me, and I couldn't get it right until I watched your video. Thanks for sharing this!
it would been much helpful if there was audio and more details. I got CD with my machine but unfortunately my laptop not playing it hence I have to try online. this is my first sewing machine and have no idea how to deal with this :(
atlababe you have to hold the tail of the thread that has went through your needle then turn the handle to make the bobbin thread come up. How this helps
I have a singer 2263 machine and I cannot seem to feed the top thread to bring up the bobbin thread. I have watched many of the videos, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. please help!
I Have The Same Machine Im Trying To Thread Never Used It But I No Longer Have The Instructions. I Was Followin Good Up Until The Video Reached 1:25 - 1:30... I got Confused Because That Metal Piece That Appeared Was Not There And Idk How To Go On Because At First It Wasnt There As The Same On My Machine And Then It Popped Up....
I'm getting frustratedo_O I did every set but the thread from the bottom will not come up. Instead, the thread from top keeps going to bottom...like it's supposed to but it keeps popping.
HOW??? This video makes it look so easy but mine doesn't do that. When I turn the wheel and make the needle go down, the bobbin thread doesn't come up. I'm so confused,
atlababe I had THE SAME PROBLEM, it was what brought me to youtube. what I noticed is that when it goes all the way down and you pull the thread (the one from the needle) it starts to stay under the foot where the bobbin is (I kept the latch open to see how it works) and when I pulled it up the thread is supposed to do go around the front of the bobbin (if you have the latch open you will see this) but my thread couldn't go around it on its own so I helped it out by hand, once it is on the other side it will grab the loose thread from the bobbin (like seen in the manual and here) and then when you pull on the thread from the needle it will do as seen in the video. Hope that helped =]
PLEASE HELP. The thread keeps clumping on the bottom side of the fabric for me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I threaded it exactly like this. Any tips?
Crystel Rose If you are sure it is threaded correctly, trying holding both threads at once firmly to the back of the presser foot as you start sewing. If that does not work, you may need to have the machine repaired.
It's been a month I've reviewed most of the sewing machines available near me...And here's my verdict. From all the information I've gathered, this sewing machine is a good one. Some might have trouble to go through thick fabric, such as several denim layers, but in this case try to change the needles and not overwork it (And I precise several layers. So to make an hemstitch it should work fine). Sometimes the needles sold with it are not that sturdy, but in that case just buy others, explaining your problem in the shop. It is a good machine when you start, and it can last if you take good care of it. What is the most important when you buy a machine is what you want to make of it. If it's for normal use, this one is very good, especially since you have a lot of different stitches, and you can choose both width and length. If you're looking for something sturdier, to work A LOT and knowing you will use a lot of very thick fabric, try more a Heavy Duty one (Singer), or a Toyota Super Jeans. Hope it's helpful =)
choukettaxel Hello,, thanks for the review. Would you recommend this for a 9 year old girl? My daughter wants to sew doll clothes and such. I"m worried about the frustration factor... Thanks. (susanhd@rogers.com)
Susan Henriques-DeCotiis Yes, it is a good machine for a beginner, even children. It can be frustrating, but it's mostly small mistakes you learn quickly (such as not forget to pull the foot down before sewing). I know that several children have this machine, so it shouldn't be a problem as long as they're careful. And even then, I find it rather secured, because you can't really get your fingers near the needle because of the foot, and you're holding on your fabric, so...Just be close to her at the beginning when she's learning the different points and everything, and she'll be a stylist for dolls in no time !
It just won't work for me. I am in tears. I get it all threaded up correctly but when I try to get the thread to come up from the bottom the needle just stops. It will go if I crank the wheel away from me but it won't pull the thread up. I guess I'll just have to stick to hand sewing if someone can't help me. Please help. I have this lovely sewing machine but I can't use it :(:(
true, WAIT im not the one who needs help... NO wait! oooohhh choukettaxel Shiana Roberts r u using ur fingers to move the needle or the big round thing on the right side of the sewing mashine cuz that is wat mouves the needle up and down :3

FINALLY GOT THE THREAD TO COME UP. Had to do it backwards. BUT, now it won't sew. The motor is going when I push on the pedal but it doesn't go anywhere. I've searched and searched for a troubleshooting page for this but can't find anything. Does anyone know why it won't feed automatically???
+Evie Coscia I hope you have gotten your machine to work by now, but just in case... I just had the same problem with mine until I figured out the bobbin winder was pushed to the right as if to wind the bobbin. I switched it to the left and it works. I hope this helps if you haven't been able to get it to work.
That is EXACTLY what my problem was too. I brought it in to a shop and they took one look and knew the problem. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one :)
Because the video is about threading. For the tension, most fabric require a tension of 4. As for the needle number, it's all in the manual (page 43), but here's a quick guide : -Light fabric (cotton, silk,...) 70-80 (9-11) -Medium fabric (satin, kettlecloth,...) 80-90 (11-14) -Medium to heavy (light denim, for example) 90 (14) -Heavy fabric (Real denim, plastic fabric,...) 100 (16) -Really heavy (Leather) 110 (16)
choukettaxel I bought my machine and it came without a manual. It was the floor model...I have had Singers since I was young, but do you know where online might I be able to copy a manual? Thanks!!
Of course ! Everything is on their website, you just have to find your model and go on the "ressources" page, which is a bit lower, and right to the technical listing "features & benefits" button. I don't know which model you have exactly, but if it is this one, here's the direct link to the manual : www.singerco.com/uploads/download/0a7c4acf373c8dacb836ecfbcd0c5f18f880cf0d.pdf

Okay, seriously, I grew up sewing with my mom on her expensive machine and couldn't figure out why my threading was nesting even with the DVD and manual the machine came with. This video is the only reason I now have nice, straight stitches. Thanks so much! Although next time, go just a teeny bit slower?
Awesome video! Enjoyed it. Very easy to follow with simple instructions. It took me a few rewinds when you got closer to the needle.
Thank you so much! This worked like a charm! You saved my day!
This really helped me out a lot. I didn't have the manual to my Uncle's machine that was given to me, and I couldn't get it right until I watched your video. Thanks for sharing this!

it would been much helpful if there was audio and more details. I got CD with my machine but unfortunately my laptop not playing it hence I have to try online. this is my first sewing machine and have no idea how to deal with this :(
Hey today i bought this machine it is very easy to use...
Had to play at .5X speed but I figured out I was missing the last step before threading the needle. Thank You!
atlababe you have to hold the tail of the thread that has went through your needle then turn the handle to make the bobbin thread come up. How this helps
Much simpler than READING the instructions!!! Thanks!
wow! this helped a lot thank you so much
I have been given a singer featherweight model 100, without a Manuel, and have no idea how to thread it. Please help
