JJ Cale was on another level. What a great singer, player and song writer. Better than any of the crap on the radio any day. We need a revival of music like this and keep the garbage off the air waves. This is real music people!
Still what a shame he passed away! But we also could have a positive approach like the Argentinians toward their tango icon Carlos Gardel, who died in a plane accident in 1936. Many people there say that he died in 1936 but that he sings better every day. Indeed when I listen again to J.J. Cale I often have the impression that it sounds better than the previous time I listened to.

26 year-old John Mayer watching with admiration at 0:19. Less than two years before this June 2004 festival (August 2002), my wife and I saw John headline in Portland with Guster and the John Butler Trio. We were both 51 at the time, and I remember looking around the venue and wondering if we were the oldest couple in the crowd. That's J. J. Cale's wife, Christine Lakeland, on acoustic guitar in front of Mayer.
I watch this clip at least once a day and envy those who saw these two legends live. And, boy!, what a lovely smile Christine Lakeland has. JJ must be the luckiest guy on earth to have this woman playing alongside him. RIP JJ.
Slow, steady bluesy rhythm from the “Tulsa Sound” man JJ Cale! The enthusiastic applause at the end tells you just how much he’s adored; RIPower Music Man 😻
Cale, who was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Tulsa, was also a performer and a recording artist in his own right. He recorded 14 studio albums, and a JJ Cale and Eric Clapton collaboration album, "The Road to Escondido," netted Cale a Grammy in 2007 for Best Contemporary Blues Album. 2:02 [Alabama News]
John Weldon Cale was born in Oklahoma City, and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He later styled himself "JJ" to avoid any confusion with John Cale of the Velvet Underground. 3:13 [The Guardian]

JJ Cail was a huge fan of Charvel guitars. before they go became popular with many other musicians. I was an OTR truck driver so this song was automatically a favorite of mine. and I also couldn't help but like Lynyrd Skynyrd's version of the song.
c 74/75 I hitchiked from Glasgow to London to see JJ Cale. He had only one gig in the UK When the band came onstage the stood in a semicircle...no one at the centre/front Said it all to me....
Clapton is god at 1 time! Nobody better and had graffiti everywhere in mid/late 60s... but funny thing a dog was pissing on 1 sign and Clapton himself even said well there you go lol.
Being an amateur musician, what always takes me away is the astounding world of music! It's like birds singing/ chirping to each other. Never the same note but so fantastic!
To have been able to produce and play such brilliant music like JJCale did with the hands and fingers of a steel worker ...is pretty special along with his unbelievable talent ..too right !
When I come off road on weekends or when I made it home (trucking the USA) I get a shower get in my BIG GMC PICKUP truck put JJ CALE LIVE ON CD ride through the mountains half the night burning one and jamming to that CD all night drinking cold ones the I got out the FEAT YEP LITTLE FEAT AN JAM TILL DAYLIGHT. What a line up. JJ Cale, Christine Lakeland, Jimmy Karstein, Bill Raffensberger, Rocky Frisco, with a little EC backing them up, with John Mayer looking on. I was there with my buddy. Good times.
You can be very much happy mate that you were there listening to the pro 's , I've always loved jj and watched this for years so I'm very excited for the names of the two guys in this that personally I think are just the business, seasoned pro's making it look so easy with their supreme talent playing with jj, bass and drums ! I love the way you can clearly see Eric loves JJ in this performance.
As he should, JJ songs made the man a lot of money.
You just can't be any cooler than JJ Cale. Can't be done....
Now that's the way Call Me The Breeze should sound. Great feel.
You can see and feel Christine's happiness of being on stage with them.

People give Clapton a hard time. He is a beautiful guitar player and a superb musician.
Pretty sure any criticism Clapton gets is not about his guitar playing or musicianship.
