      +astroboy3507 So many people think spraying is the answer but I would us a brush and roller about 90% of the time. Spraying is a lot quicker but often its the time spent masking every thing that makes spraying slower. A friend of mine tried spraying everything in a new home except for final coat on walls which they rolled. After painting about 6 houses they went back to the old method, they were spending far too long masking and then cleaning up after.

    hey mate. would love to see a acratex video or texture video for new concrete ceilings :).. love your work

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  8 лет назад

      +Pete Mmz Can't say I have textured a ceiling lately but it would be the same method as doing a wall except it will be a little more awkward applying the texture. The ceilings I have done in the past have just been a roll on texture, you will get covered with texture when applying with a roller, i can guarantee that.

    if you want a pump that lasts use a titan. I switched to titan about 15 years ago and my airless maintenance is almost no cost compared to graco. I still use a graco gun and line though.

      I can't comment on the titan but I have had no issues with my graco.

      graco is a good pressure control but the fluid section really suck compared to titan. Titan has neoprene packings that will never touch the piston. Graco has leather stacked packings that when they go out the piston wills scrape the cylinder and cost you a fortune. Check out the fluid sections at the next show. I got rid of my graco rigs because of the maintenance cost too high.

    What liquids can I put in my Titan 440 Impact to prevent paint from drying? I see people using window washer fluid, mineral spirits etc. Have u ever used antifreeze? Mineral spirits work well but it's hard to tell when it's run thru the prime tube and gun.

      Hi, I have over 5 years experience running a Graco sprayer as a journeyman painter. It's best to run mineral spirits through the sprayer. After you run water through the sprayer, pull the sucker hose out of the water and run the sprayer for a few seconds in open air. After that, start running the mineral spirits through. You will get a noticeable *gargle* sound & burst of air when the sprayer pumps out all the water. This should help you identify when the thinner is fully through.

      So you are leaving paint in the system?

      @@howtopaintinfo No, I'm not leaving paint in the system. I was told every time I flush the paint out of the system with water that I should store it with something that will prevent any paint particles, not flush out, from drying (i.e. in the suction tube, gun etc.). I'm trying to find an effective store liquid that is also inexpensive given that this liquid is supposed to be used after each use of the sprayer. Thanks.

      @@grantfosnot5960 Thanks for the info. I guess I can put some food color in the mineral spirts and it won't hurt the sprayer or gun. Do u reuse ur mineral spirts over and over again?

    Hi mate, I would like to know when I am painting a wall, after I have finished painting it, I can see the cutting in marks, what causes this, did I not put enough paint on? or did I just not lay it off properly? because sometimes when I cut in a wall, I roll it after the cutting in has dried. I would really like some help on this one.Thanks

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  8 лет назад

      +SuperJohnboy43 Cutting in after the paint has dried is still ok, does the cutting in look darker or lighter than the rolling? If it looks lighter then you will need to cut in again and if it is darker you will need to roll again.

    • @SuperJohnboy43
      @SuperJohnboy43 8 лет назад

      +howtopaintinfo the cutting in appears to look lighter, but it looks see through on different angles, for example when you look at it from the side.

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  8 лет назад

      If it looks lighter and you can see through it you will need to cut in again. Try one section like down the side of a door frame and see if it looks better after another coat

    • @SuperJohnboy43
      @SuperJohnboy43 8 лет назад

      +howtopaintinfo Does it look lighter because i'm not putting enough paint on, is that the reason? Sorry I'm only asking this because i'm an apprentice painter.

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  8 лет назад

      SuperJohnboy43 Most likely that is the reason, often I will cut in and let others roll because I know I will make the cutting in cover.

    You covered everything except the most important part... SAFETY . People who have never used one of these need to be aware of the danger of fluid injection. Paint can’t penetrate you’re skin and enter you’re bloodstream without leaving a cut or mark on you’re skin. And the only cure is amputation. so never point a spray gun at youreself or anyone else either jokingly or accidentally especially if the tip is reversed

    • @derekadams3392
      @derekadams3392 4 года назад

      Can penetrate

      Try this video, ruclips.net/video/mKXCzxlEMQ8/видео.html and amputation is only a last resort.

      howtopaintinfo watched the video and agree, but I’m aware of the safety aspects I’ve been spraying for over 40 years, airless and conventional. It’s the people watching you’re ‘how to’ video that need to be made aware of this before using a spray unit. Apart from that Keep up the good work.

    You can use Kerosene to keep it lubricated

    • @howtopaintinfo

      I can't see any reason why you couldn't, i use to use turps but diesel fuel is cheaper.

      I wouldn’t recommend to use a turps at all. It’s too aggressive to internal components of your gun.

    Why do painters wear all white clothing? You get dirty quicker.
    Maybe car mechanics should also wear white.

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  5 лет назад

      There are lots of theories about this and I'm not sure which one is true. The two that i often heard about was that white was a cool colour for when working outside and also light colours didn't show as much on the white overalls.
