    5:20 The Gen 4 G29 without any backstrap installed, and the Gen 3 SF have the exact same Length Of Pull, or what Glock calls Trigger Distance: distance between the front of the trigger to the back of the grip. Gen 4 with medium backstrap installed returns to grip to the size of a regular Gen 3 (increase the trigger distance by 2mm), and the large backstrap makes Gen 4's grip larger than that of the Gen 3 (another 2mm increase) :)

    Thanks for the content. I've been EDC as a CCW, the Glock 43 with +2 extended mag (for better grip) for a total of 8+1 but I'm a 10mm guy. Proud owner of a Colt Delta Elite 10MM auto for 25 years and LOVE the 10mm caliber and have trained to mitigate the recoil, etc. I'm also a firm believer in a bigger, heavier projectile flying at a higher velocity matters A LOT when used in self defense. I don't know what the science is here, but a 9MM hollow-point striking a bad-guy 2" off target is most likely a non-issue when shot in the same place with a 10MM round because of the increased damage. Maybe I'm wrong, but it makes sense. Anyway, today I held the G29SF for the first time and wow, it was love and first grip. The thicker grip from the double stack design instantly gave me a tighter, more locked in draw and I loved the weight. I bought it on the spot and in 12-13 days (with holiday) i'll be the proud owner of this pistol. Can't wait to put a Romeo site, flashlight and add her to the CCW license.

    Great gun. When I go deer and bear hunting, I carry a Glock 20 with a KKM 6” barrel and Underwood 200gr HP’s or 200gr lead hardcast bullets for deep penetration, specifically on bears. But when I creek fish in the remote parts of the Eastern Sierras and am constantly moving along the creeks and on trails where I want to (legally) conceal a 10mm from shocked anti 2A passing tree hugging hikers, I carry the G29 instead. Again, it’s primarily for black bears that don’t want to move away from me, in the event I happen to accidentally sneak up on one pissed off mamma bear where retreating won’t work. My 29 when loaded with hard hitting Underwood or Grizzly brand lead hardcast, I swap in a KKM fully supported chamber barrel. For regular EDC carry if I choose to rotate a 10mm, I load up with either Winchester 175gr silvertips (old school that works great in 10mm), or Sig Sauer 180 V-crown HP’s, or Remington green/white box 180gr HP’s. They all work great in Paul Harrell’s “meat targets.”

I’ve carried my 40 MOS and it can get a little heavy as does the 20. I recently ordered side suspenders to compensate for the weight. I plans to carry based on conditions, weather, clothing, destination etc.

    10mm is such a versatile cartridge. Good self-defense hollow points expand extremely well and tend to not over penetrate. Correspondingly, loaded with FMJ FP and a full load of powder the round has extreme penetration for a handgun round - hence "bear load".

    Not getting the fully velocity of the bear loads when you go down in barrel length. I have a G20 with a 6.5" barrel when going into the woods to get the full velocity of that 10mm round.

    • @MTMILITIAMAN7.62
      @MTMILITIAMAN7.62 6 месяцев назад +2

      The difference in velocity between the 3.8" G29 and the 4.6" G20 is usually only around 40 fps. Going from a G20 to the 6" G40 nets you another 40 fps. So the difference between the G29 and a 6 inch barrel is only about 80 fps. That is a difference, but whether it is enough difference to make a difference is subjective. Many people will find the discretion and convenience afforded by the subcompact to be worth 80 fps. I split the difference and carry a G20 everywhere. But I have been considering the G29 because having something a little smaller when EDCing in town would nice, sometimes.

    I pocket carry my G29
    If I go somewhere I'm not supposed to carry, I just slide my wallet in front of the holster. Doesn't have a chance of interfering but it just looks like I have a modern smart phone and wallet bulging my pocket out a bit
    Surprisingly concealable but thick and will leave an imprint, nothing a good holster can't fix

    Nice video! Love my Glock 29 and wouldn’t trade it for anything. But.... I only carry it for when I’m fishing in the Sierras and need a ccw (legally permitted) 10mm on the trail for a rogue black bear. Also, where other people might be and I don’t want to spook some vegan anti-gunner with it on my hip or in my chest rig. So in that case on high Sierras fishing, I want a compact 10mm and the 29 fits the Bill. But, when I’m big game rifle hunting, I ALWAYS carry my Glock 20 (sometimes with a 6” KKM barrel). I primarily use my all leather Diamond D chest rig, made from a guy in Alaska. I love it. Now the small barrel of the 29 has much less velocity than the standard Glock 20 barrel or even a 6” barrel, so I’d never carry it as a back up gun for hunting. Ammo I use for bear protection is a lead hardcast 200gr solid from either Underwood, BuffaloBore, DoubleTap or Grizzly and in my Glock 29 KKM barrel. It’s fully supported chamber with genuine “lands & groves” makes shooting lead hardcast bullets a safer and suitable weapon. Sadly though in Cali, I can’t easily order online ammo anymore and none of those above brands will ship to Cali “subjects.” Also, lead bullets of any kind are now illegal for HUNTING in Cali, so I need to find an all copper bullet that’s suitable for bear hunting. Only problem, that bullet these days and even before the COVID ammo crunch was/is extremely hard to ever find. It truly is like finding not only a living unicorn, but a unicorn made out of 24kt gold. But again, for just bear “protection” on the banks of fishing creeks, I use lead all day long. It’s a last resort weapon and in that case, lead is still legal (this week anyway) in California. Good thing I stocked up on that hot 10mm ammo years ago. I must clarify though... while I think the Glock 29 is really too short to produce enough muzzle velocity for my liking, my retired game warden buddy one had to kill a black bear with his standard Glock 22 .40 and a quick double tap. It worked, so I know with the right shot placement, a Glock 29 with the right ammo can work as well.

      Much less velocity… don’t think so. I own all three Glock 10mms. Review the videos that is adverse to your statement here on RUclips that actually measured the velocity of the 29 vs 20.

    • @colt10mmsecurity68
      @colt10mmsecurity68 3 года назад

      @@mutlee299 Which video are you referring to? Are you talking about one particular brand of ammo that may have been a fluke? They may come close in velocity, but the 29 sized barrel is shorter than the 20’s barrel and thus provides slower velocity and less foot/lbs of energy.

      Stock barrel on the 29SF has been fine for me. I like the underwood 135 grain in it just for toting around, 180-200 grain for woods duty.
      I just like the heavier grain for any twigs/bushes/whatever that could get in the way. Is it right? Dunno but makes sense in my head.

    Small but of advice, as I carry this. Get a 21+ pound steel guide rod and recoil spring assembly. Glock considers the plastic guid rod a disposable item. Then get an extended take down bar and slide release as the the originals get a little tougher to use with a 21+ pound guide rod and spring. I would not go more than 22 lbs, but you will appreciate the extra resistance over the stock recoil spring.

      I’ve changed to an Alpha Wolf barrel, McNally trigger, and Ameriglo night sights. However, I’ve been advised to NOT change the guide rod and spring because of reliability issues. Leave the stock one in the gun. That advice did not come from Glock, but from a very reliable source.

    I wish Glock would just beef up the barrel and make the slide narrow for a 10 mm. I have a Glock 23 Gen 4, 40 cal. with the same thickness as the Glock 19. Glock makes a G36 single stacked in 45 cal. that is the same thickness as the Glock 19. Always wished they would do the same in a 10 mm. Probably wishful thinking ?

    New to the channel, really good review of the G29. I've been on the fence about getting one but I don't really like the pinky grip extensions as they are bit of a bothersome for me.
    With that being said, I do carry a G30 and two of my mags have the pinky extensions and although I love having the .45acp firepower in a small package, I just never get used to that pinky grip extensions on the mags.
    But like you said in your video, I also have a full size .1911 Kimber in 10mm. I have the Eclipse Custom II in 10mm and as much as I love it as well, I want the same caliber in a much smaller package and the G29 seems to be the best way to go.
    But, I just wish Glock made the 10mm in the same size as say the G19, G23, and the G32. I would be all over that if Glock made this. But for now, if I do purchase the G29, I'll have to do the pinky extensions again. Guess I can't have everything 😕 😪...
    But very good video, enjoyed it.
    Update: I ended up buying one of these off GunBroker.com...your video made me do it...☹️🤫

    To anyone looking for grip with this and a better feel and good ammo capacity etc.
    Order a glock 20 15 round magazine. Order a X-grip for the glock 29.
    Order some grip tape if you want.
