  • It's exactly a year since I made my front flip tutorial so hopefully the next one won't take so long...
    This video hasn't got the progression steps that might help to learn a backflip from the ground up. However I may make one of those in the future.
    The hardest part of learning a backflip is the fear, it makes it almost impossible to focus on technique in the early stages, making progress much slower.
    Once you get over the fear through PRACTICE you can fine tune your technique.
    This video is aimed at those people; who may be landing the flip but would like to increase their height.
    Sorry it's short but I suck at making these videos lol.
    If you learned anything from this video let me know in the comments. Also let me know any tips you have for this flip or what could make these tutorials better!
    I realise there's a typo in the vid but I cba to re upload etc

    this was very helpful to know, I had learned a back flip and always landed it just like the one at 1:26 for like 4 months straight. Thanks to this video I know know how to do my back flip alot more consistant and better! Thanks, next is front flip.

    Love it man I really like how you did the common mistakes part! That's not something I see a lot in tutorials but I would really love to hear you in person explaining a lot of these things just so people can hear it in your own words

      Thanks for the support man! I did try to start with talking through it but found it really hard to articulate the points properly. But maybe that'll come with practice more. If I make a progressions video I would talk over that to give more information I think. Glad you like it though 😊

      Angus PK nah this tutorial is perfect cause when watching it i was like "man this helps me out alot but for someone who cant backflip at all or is barley learning them properly wouldn't benefit as much but still very helpfull for people who have most flips down but need help with learning form or just general tips so hands down i wanna see more can you backfull? Thats the tutorial i would request cause i really need help with those

      @@natevthewanderingninja4056 yeah I agree, too many tutorials don't actually explain how to progress to the flip itself but claim to help beginners, so didn't want to go down that road. I can back full but very inconsistent. Learning it (and all twists) has been a massive struggle for me so maybe sharing how I'm learning it would be helpful?

    When you say work on mobility, what do you refer to what muscles and what exercises?

    • @AngusUrenParkour
      @AngusUrenParkour  3 года назад +1

      Hi Sharvan, mobility in this instance was focused on the tuck. It will help to get a tighter tuck if you have open hips, practicing deep squats getting your bum as low to ground as possible.
      Also in the exercise where I lay on the ground and pulled my legs in to my chest, try that exercise with and without using your hands, and see what the difference is. You might feel a stretch along the front of your hips. Try holding the tightest tuck you can without hands to work those muscles.
      Hope that makes some sense, am no expert by any means.

    My goooosh. U deserve way more subscribers! Keep what your doing! Btw I learned how to do a backflip (trampoline) yesturday! And when I tried this morning my brain stopped me, but I know how to do it physical, but my brain stopped me and I was so angry :( Any tips on how to trick your brain into thinking you can do it? My brain is not scared to fail the flip, its just jumping backwards. Please see this comment and reply :)

    • @AngusUrenParkour
      @AngusUrenParkour  4 года назад +1

      Thank you very much for the comment! For you I would say a lot of repetitions on the trampoline, doing them as if you are stood on ground. Transitioning from trampoline to ground took me a long time actually. Look up videos on how a friend or family member could spot you, it definitely helps with confidence and maybe do it on a hill into sand etc. Hope that is somewhat helpful 🙏🙏

      @@fitnessbyreggy5585 hahaha I totally misread the start of your comment apparently 😂😂. I found jumping slightly over 1 shoulder instead of straight back helps, so it looks like a wonky backflip, then playing around with where your head looks can trick you into doing it. But don't worry they will come and go for a little bit then you won't be scared anymore

    Does your elevation have to be really high to do a "perfect backflip"?

    • @AngusUrenParkour
      @AngusUrenParkour  3 года назад +1

      I wouldn't say so! More height will give you more time to rotate but if your tuck is really tight then you wouldn't need as much height.

  • @kakasvk
    @kakasvk 5 лет назад

    My biggest problem when doing backflips is that I dont do straight backflip but I do it little bit "sideways" like if I leaned over bar (like in high jump). So my whole flip is leaned a bit- its likemy head is 'looking' behind my shoulder to see where its going to land. (It comes from fear imo).How to fix this?

    • @AngusUrenParkour
      @AngusUrenParkour  5 лет назад

      Do you find doing backflips still scary each time? As you get more comfortable it will become easier to get your technique better. But you can try spotting something straight in front of you and trying to look at it right until you tuck. If you practise that enough hopefully you will train your brain to stay looking forward and not turn to the side. Hope that helps man!
