I just love how Figaro, has to be with y'all, and love his jump! Cats are cool. How awesome to go to the green house to shop for carrot and beets! What a blessing for y'all!
In Australia, we love to have crackling with our pork roast. We leave the skin on the roast n cut into narrow strips. Rub salt n oil into the skin n bake it. The skin come out crunchy n crackly. Yummm. Lol. 👍👍👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
My late husband’s family used to make pork shoulder, and they would criss cross cut the fat, and cook the shoulder and pick off the crispy fat and pop it into their mouths like candy. I was never a fan, however.
An outhouse and a warming shed/cabin. Will make your new property perfect. Snowshoeing this winter, some trapping a great adventure. You and a few other RUclips channels are my television.
Love the slo mo replay of Figaro's leap! He and Hope are my favorites. I still miss CWC tho. So excited to hear about plans for the new land. Even if its only an outhouse😉 The inside of the new barn/garage looks bigger now that I see the Kubota and lumber loaded in it!
Pallet wood can be very useful as they make tools to break them down and even remove the nails letting you reuse most of the wood rather then just turning into firewood. The good news is an outhouse can be built in the shop and loaded in the back of the truck to get it over there. Just go and buy a toilet seat to not risk splinters. Depending on how much room you have in the truck bed might need to do the walls in half height and bolt them together on location but that depends on how much height you need in the finished product. Also remember to put in enough room for a 5 gallon bucket for a secure place to store the paper products that can be sealed from pests as you do not want to find a spider or mouse in there so a nice simple easy to seal bucket solves that issue.
Andrew H: I had the same thought about the pallet wood. It kills me every time I see Al cutting up perfectly good lumber to use as kindling! Especially at today's lumber prices. Go gather some twigs and branches from the woods, Al.
Thank you for saving my sanity..My house was hit with a 10min Hail Storm in Queensland Australia that stripped our tile roof and smashed my car windows..Today it rained through the holey roof through ceilings and walls...Roofers coming tomorrow to tarp the roof...I was soooo stressed then saw your new vid was up...Thank you for sharing and distracting me...love to you family..My Kitty Ollie loves watching Figaro, he is a fan :) God Bless
Would love to see the land clearing, and seeing the plans and ideas for how you pick a spot for your home, and the housing you choose for the animals. Of course seeing the build as you did your greenhouse and the new storage barn.
@@larryparish5984 well I am. I only suggested a maine bandsaw mill company. But I can say as my husband's family have done a lot of logging.. if you're going to do more then just a few trees it is best to have a professional. One I don't know where they are but there are many regulations in removing timber of more then 1 acre for a home. But more importantly right tool for the job, your not going to use a good wood chisel for a screwdriver? But to each their own .. from experience he'll need a bigger tractor and a logging winch and be trained on how to use it safely. Logging is one of the top most dangerous jobs in the world. But it is possible
When we buy standing timber like yours we always put in the agreement, that we will leave all mayor skid trails open. Many liggers don't offer this. The skid trails if left clean can be great early access to your land.

Gina. Have you tried putting whole onions in to roast with a joint of meat? It works with pork and beef. Serve them whole. One for each of you. They have a fantastic taste. Soft and sweet. My grandmother taught me to cook them that way. She just used to cut a cross on the top of the onions and baste them with the meat juices while they were cooking...
My mom did the same. She was from Eastern PA., which is filled with early German settlers; English sneaking called them Dutch, hence the term Pennsylvania Dutch. Anyway, they are big pork eaters, and apples and pork are a delicious match. I make my pork chops similar to her roast. I dredge the chops in a mixture of flour, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, parsley and sage. Fry in deep skillet with several teaspoon oil till lightly brown, then remove. In same pan, one whole chopped large onion, cook till soft, scraping bits of fondant off bottom of pan. Add 1 cup thinly sliced sweet apple (with skin on if you like) to pan with onions. Stir in 1cup apple juice or cider into pan; place chops back in pan and bring to boil, then reduce to simmer and cover. Cook till pork is done (160*F) about 30 minutes for 1 inch chops. Stir occasionally to ensure chops and apples not sticking, add more juice or cider as needed to create a nice gravy. Vegetables sides as you like. I usually make cornbread dressing or mashed potatoes and some green veggie. Oh, don't forget the applesauce on the side for any pork dish. Ist ser gut! 😋
You just have to love Figaro, such a character. Love watching you two cleaning up and getting ready for winter. Gina always makes the best looking food. I know your friends must have loved it. Looking forward to another video tomorrow:)
Those battens that you cut up were good 3 X 1 inch timber, I almost started crying watching you cut them up. I deal with buried lag bolts all the time, I made a jig with a 1 inch hole right the way through and then put that over the lag and use a hole saw with the drill shortened to cut a hole around it using the piece I made to stop the hole drill from going off track and then just remove the wood with a small chisel or screwdriver then I can unscrew you can use it again some time.
Al, we added an outhouse to our Wisconsin property to help us with a quick location for our human waste and we had the unit for over 20 years even though we had inside service after 5 years. My dad and I took 2 55 gallon barrels and made a cylinder out of the 2 drums. We strapped tell 2 together end to end and cut holes in the upper drum. This allowed the waste to go into the upper drum and liquid into the owe drum and then into the soil. We baried the 2 drums in a six foot hole with 12" sticking out of the ground. Then we built the outhouse on top of the drums. We used cypetic system powder to disolve the waste each year.

🤗 Good morning. ☕ Yes, an outhouse is a great idea to build first. 👍 Figaro must have been hunting. Yummy meaty breakfast for him. Dinner looks excellent. It probably tasted wonderful. 👍👏👏 You folks have a blessed day. ☝️
Maybe add a little shed/cabin with a small woodstove to the new land to warm up in if working there in the winter. It wouldn't need to be very big, maybe 8x10. Just enough to get in out of the cold / weather and warm up. Have you thought about offering a stud service with your bucks? We have a doe we need to breed.

Gooooood Morning Al , Gina & Olivia , The new farm and what to do first ? First , you need water. You have access to plenty of water. Second , you need a outhouse. You can go traditional or more modern with a composting type or the incineration type. The easiest is possibly the composting type. You are starting with a clean slate so to speak. The proper placement of your buildings is essential. Now is the time to look and consider carefully before you leap.
Wow, that dinner looked amazing. God blessed y'all with such a bounty this year. I hope your friends enjoyed a meal made entirely from your homestead. How far is the new property from you? It is going to be very taxing to do anything at the new property while still maintaining your homestead if you have a long drive to the new place. I watch every video so I'm coming along for the ride no matter what you do there. Blessings to all.
Colder days are coming! We’re at 70 here in Missouri the past few days. Getting some much needed painting done! Those pork roasts look really good! It’s nice that your barn build gave you some needed wood for your outhouse on Figaro’s Farm!
14:30 Al, use a hole saw just big enough to get around those lag bolts. Break the cut up with a cold chisel and pry it out with a screwdriver so you can get a socket on those lags to save them.
Morning Lumnah family, always love my figaro fix in the morning he's such a beautiful and comical cat. Gina I love the pan you cooked the pork roasts in, would you please tell me where you bought it ?
Don't forget Al you still have a pallet left in the pasture from the barn build that you could use plus all of the other wood scattered everywhere that you could use for the outhouse build. My suggestion make a centralized location for all your wood like next to the garage that way you know what you have. I'm afraid if have everything everywhere somebody might steal it. Just a thought. Love the videos! Keep up the good work Al, Gina, and Olivia.
Love Figaro! Also how about organising Shelves or racks for different sizing of boards. That would provide a brief assessment. (That would also help keep the floors or wet places.
Am i crazy enough to watch 2 people working on a couple of wood planks for 15 minutes.....??? Yes I am.. because I love farmer's and homesteading families...God bless you all..!!!!🤗
When you said they wanted an outhouse, I figured you have just cut the pallet in half and use it as a base to start. My mind built one and my jaw dropped when you dismantled the whole thing for fire wood.
I still think they need to use that portable goat barn that's barely being used and as said when it was being built, there's a place for both Al and Gina.
@@valeriesmith9639 yea, the pallet idea in my head was having two sections, his and hers stalls. I was thinking when they built the goat stop it was for Olivia when she waited for the bus instead of in the rain. But hey, their projects.
I season my pork roasts by taking a paring knife and cutting vertical holes down into the meat, take garlic cloves and cut them in slivers and stick them down into the holes. They add a garlic taste to the meat but not overpowering.
Nice instant replay on Figaro's leap! Just wondering: what's the possibility of you doing an evening chores video? For example, putting the goats to bed, etc. I'm guessing you'd have to record it on a Saturday or a Tuesday when you don't have a video coming out the next day. It's just something I've been thinking about. How do Gina and Al put the homestead to bed each night?
Good morning to you both. Thanks for putting a smile on my face every morning. All your goats are adorable but must say, Hope is my favorite. I wanted to ask...Are you keeping both properties? Oh, why don't you try putting a composting toilet or incinerator toilet (I think that's what they're call,) then you won't need to dig.
I'd say the main driver here is cost. To make a standard outhouse, they already have all the materials and just have to supply the labor to make it. Composting or incinerator toilets are costly and then there is the security of such a pricey item to leave on the new property. I'm thinking not many people would want to steal a traditional outhouse - although if it's built by Al with all that left-over beautiful lumber from Jamaica Cottage, it would be tempting to take if one was desperate. God says don't touch other people's stuff - unfortunately not everyone heeds that edict.
Build the outhouse ON the skid frame to make it more easily moveable at the new property. You can make the wall sections and then assemble them on site with hinges for convenience and ease of transport.
I think you should set up a series of different branches for them to run through on the way to breakfast. Keep increasing it to see how far you can push it. Plus lots of good bark snacks for the goats. Thank goodness you had supervisor Figaro for the tarp folding, his help seemed invaluable.
When you have a great big driveway, you want to set up in the mud hole to work! Right on Al, I am with you on this, that way when you are working with electrical power tools, you know you are good for a sudden wake up call!
Hope you have enough extra wood for the stall walls and the outhouse! I hear lumber prices are going to possibly get even worse so a sawmill for the new property seems a must! Yummy dinner recipe, thanks Gina!

One puddle and Al plays in it!
Great video on stacking lumber...yeah..you need to hit the speed up button sometimes...that 1x you cut up for kindling that's some mighty expensive kindling...stay safe...
Hi All! I can not tell you how excited I am to see all of the new vlogs of your 500 acres! 😁 Can you tell us how the meeting went with the people lumbering your land? So glad you are building an outhouse. No woman wants to find a tree! 😏 No matter how many leaves you men gather! 😖
❤&🙏 from Pennsylvania
😂😂 so true
Good morning everyone 👋🏻 Figaro! You made me laugh out loud several times in this vlog. I think you are great 😊 💞😹
That dinner looked awesome. We make pulled pork with roast leftovers
Dumb joke: My niece asked her Mother, "Leftovers again? When did we have this the first time?"
🤗 Good morning. ☕
Yes, an outhouse is a great idea to build first. 👍 Figaro must have been hunting. Yummy meaty breakfast for him.
Dinner looks excellent. It probably tasted wonderful. 👍👏👏
You folks have a blessed day.
Good morning Lumnah Acres! Hope you all have a wonderfully blessed day. Will you be showing videos of you building the outhouse? That would be cool. And then showing how you fix the hole for the outhouse.
Hi Lumnah fam.. the goats are so funny in the morning, walking out to the feeder.
LOL...loved the replay of Figaro =D
Whaaat.. no chicken :O =D ;) , love pork, so yummy. God bless
Good morning Guy's! Yep, a lotta people been shooting around here to, hunting season in full swing! Stay blessed 🙏 and warm!🌬🔥‼Sounds like a prefab build of the outhouse in the workshop, dismantled and transport to new land site!🤞🤝
Yes, outhouse-
Jamaica Cottage Shop has plans and kits too.
@@lindapolle1665 Absolutely! The good thing is Al is so good at building and all the leftover wood he can use any plans to get it done! I love how Al and Genia recycles to keep cost down, my favorite homestead Family‼👌🙏💞
And fancy parking on the puddle! Lol
Would love to see video of the entire timber harvesting process. And of course the outhouse construction!!
Here's there previous harvesting - the first of a few back then: ruclips.net/video/puP74MM6iLU/видео.html
Figaro in the tarp reminds me of my kitty when I'm trying to make the bed. Ugh! Definitely makes the process more difficult but adds an element of fun. I'm excited for the coming adventures with your latest blessing!🤗
Even more thankful for this channel in light of the current election chaos. Thank you!
Good morning
Love that you had that much lumber left over so you can build a outhouse for the new property. The dinner looked really yummy! 😋
Thank you for sharing everything that you guys are doing on the homestead! Take care, God bless!!! 💜
I'd like to see a developing map. Start with the outline and the ponds, what you know now.
Then as you log, build, fence and explore add more to your map.
This can be done in your state time.
Yes, da map-
Homework time:
Review the Permaculture principles of homestead arrangement.
Next, decide where you want traffic lanes. Think snow bank deposits.
Place the outhouse centrally. [You will bless me for this.] [ on skids is cool too]
The path to the outhouse should pass by the wood pile. This keeps the home woodbox full.
Get a drainage map from USDA SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE. This will tell you "where" to place other features. Consider placing hedge rows a la the English country side. [ Doc Grannie's "zero dollar fence"]
Do not be affraid to consult a Civil Engineer. Soil test, soil test, and you will know what goes [grows] best where.
Doc Grannie says, "When you get frustrated or overwhelmed, think 'some fool has got to know how to do this'"
Thank you Al. You are a blessing for me too!
Are you planning on moving to the new land? Lumnah acres is looking good.
God bless stay safe. 🇺🇸♥️🌹
Love that blanket you wrapped figuero with, he seemed to like it so much, he didn't want to get out of it.. "Crazy gato!"..🐧😎
time to move goat feeder closer to barn!!! hole saw around head of la bolt.
You make recovery easier. Had laproscopic removal of the gallbladder on the 4th. The new property sure is beautiful, looking forward to seeing more of it.
This should be the Figaro show.
would also be a funny name for the new place...Figaro farms
@@Maxd58655 I second Figaro Farms
Thirded. But maybe Figoro Estate?
@@Maxd58655 I LIKE IT! 🐱

Your little inspector was to funny, when I think all the thing you built on the farm wow amazing and more to come, God bless you all.
AL, Gina & Olivia, I’m so excited to see you guys turning your new land into a living working Farm!!!! Congrats 🎊🎉🎈🍾 on The New Farm Land !!!! 👏
It's good to see you storing and cleaning up your yards.

Sandra Westley that sounds like a lovely summer day to me, we only occasionally get higher than that for a really good summer day, UK at the moment 5 c. We also choose to holiday in the Canary Islands in November and January because the temperature is a constant 24 - 25 c
Good morning all. 10 eggs total. Love the farm and the new land so much God bless and remember stay safe. Figaro is just making sure the food is safe.
I figured all that extra lumber was for the stalls y’all were gonna build 😆. But outhouse is important!
Gooooood Morning Al , Gina & Olivia ,
The new farm and what to do first ? First , you need water. You have access to plenty of water. Second , you need a outhouse. You can go traditional or more modern with a composting type or the incineration type. The easiest is possibly the composting type. You are starting with a clean slate so to speak. The proper placement of your buildings is essential. Now is the time to look and consider carefully before you leap.
I love how Olivia calls her chickens..she is such a lovely girl....btw..That roast...ohh my goodness...looks so yummy...👍
Olivia do you mean🤣

I really loved that Gina could go shopping in the green house for her own fresh veggies, I bet dinner was wonderful ty 🥰💐🍂🍁
Get you a wood miser bndsaw mill. That would be a good investment for your land. You can cut your own lumber to build with.
Good morning from the UK. Boy, I'm jealous of those ponds on your new property lol. Stay safe.
Colder days are coming! We’re at 70 here in Missouri the past few days. Getting some much needed painting done! Those pork roasts look really good! It’s nice that your barn build gave you some needed wood for your outhouse on Figaro’s Farm!
The meal look so yummy...I am sure everyone loved the meal.
I still think they need to use that portable goat barn that's barely
being used and as said when it was being built, there's a place
for both Al and Gina.
@@valeriesmith9639 yea, the pallet idea in my head was having two sections, his and hers stalls. I was thinking when they built the goat stop it was for Olivia when she waited for the bus instead of in the rain. But hey, their projects.
On days when I can't be outside, watching these videos with my coffee before work makes me so excited for productive weekends!
I season my pork roasts by taking a paring knife and cutting vertical holes down into the meat, take garlic cloves and cut them in slivers and stick them down into the holes. They add a garlic taste to the meat but not overpowering.
That's a good tip!
@Cynthia Mantooth I do the same thing except I also add Thyme and Rosemary as well.
The veg and greens look so mouthwatering... I'm happy for your family that your greenhouse is such a success already.
build a out house on one end of some 4 x 4 and a tool room on one end and opening between them in middle off them open
Build on skids so they can drag around from one hole to another.
Figaro is such a blessing to the videos. Such a character and I am a big dog person.
Yes Figaro is RUclips cat with great character.
Just lock Figaro up overnight in the milking area to get rid of your mice.
Repurposing the wood, great nothing is ever waisted at Lumnah👍
Nice instant replay on Figaro's leap! Just wondering: what's the possibility of you doing an evening chores video? For example, putting the goats to bed, etc. I'm guessing you'd have to record it on a Saturday or a Tuesday when you don't have a video coming out the next day. It's just something I've been thinking about. How do Gina and Al put the homestead to bed each night?
Pete Marchetto I would think it’s because the camera doesn’t do good at night
Figaro acts like a dog. how cute!
Figaro for President!😊🐾❤️
Morning Al!
Morning
Yay 🙌 wood stacked inside in one place and sorted a game changer. 👍👍
GOOOOD MORNING Lumnah
I love how clean and organized you guys are.
@@samvalentine3206 May be like the simple composting toilet they built at back of Outdoor Kitchen!
Build the outhouse ON the skid frame to make it more easily moveable at the new property. You can make the wall sections and then assemble them on site with hinges for convenience and ease of transport.
Morning Lumnah's, Figaro is like a 2 year old child, just needs to get into everything
Yup. 😂
It’s in his job description
I think that is the definition of a cat!!! Figaro is so much like my black cat, it's like watching my cat with a white bib. (Cole is ALL black)
Good thing those were *battery* operated electrical power tools. Not too much of a electrocution problem with those!
Sounds like a *Shocking* experience 😂😂
@@tammyhough2745 - Electrifying for sure!
It is nice to see young people hard at work and it looks like your wife knows how to cook
Thank you
Skids would be a perfect frame for outhouse don’t tear one up
Jimmy Arnold ~ Great idea! Maybe just shorten one so the 4x4's don't go to waste. (No pun intended.)
Thats what i was thinking too! You need long ends to go in the ground to stabilize it
Hope you have enough extra wood for the stall walls and the outhouse! I hear lumber prices are going to possibly get even worse so a sawmill for the new property seems a must! Yummy dinner recipe, thanks Gina!
