      Honestly, it makes sense. Madoka isn't supposed to be there, so that's fishy right there. Mami's close with a witch (Bebe). And then that confrontation with Sayaka after the fight with Mami made her a person to not trust. Kyoko's the only person who hasn't given Homura a reason to distrust them.

      I also love that it could also represent her self destruction, being that the burning things seen in the start are actually heads. That they represent all her other timelines coming to a close at this one single moment. That before when she faked killing herself only to bite back at the thing saving her. It’s all so self destructive and symbolic it gives me chills.

      Ariana Cochran
      Well considering in the last episode she was talking to incubator/kyubey about her memories from when Madoka sacrificed herself to make this world? Yeah I'm not surprised her memories eventually clashed with the new realities because she was the only one who remembered as a side effect of her magic. Thus eventually driving her to make an experimental caseing with kuybey to make this ideal world.... Where she basically was chick fully developed inside it's egg. Her becoming a witch inside her subconscious and having herself die there is basically damning herself to death and 0 chance of salvation because of her obsession with madoka. Of course madoka and the others tried saving her but THAT BACKFIRED LIKE ALL HELL! SELFISH BITCH SHOULD'VE DIED!

    • @uploader109
      @uploader109 6 лет назад +64

      CrystalOtaku93 She's irrational. That's why she became the devil. No matter what happened after messing up Madoka's god powers, she was still too gone to want to accept Madoka's salvation. She never even cleansed her gem even after the transformation. True, she made a new one, but I think that only grounded her selfishness and terrible feelings.

    • @iceluvndiva21
      @iceluvndiva21 6 лет назад +52

      uploader109
      My thoughts exactly. Talk about giving madoka's sacrifice the biggest middle finger ever! As for the whole "didn't purify her soul gem" part. In the series? She didn't purify her soul gem right away for whatever reason. But as far as the movie goes? That's actually due to the new laws that madoka wrote: when a soul gem becomes too tainted, madoka comes to take them away before the owner of that gem becomes a witch. *but here's the problem* homura stops modoka by trapping her wrists and thus holding her there so she can break off the part she wants. *that's* what damned all of them.

    • @synnell88
      @synnell88 6 лет назад +51

      If Homura goes with her to 'magical girl' heaven, then it's happy end? What if Kyubey contract another magical girl, and then waited until that magical girl almost turn into witch and trapped her just like they did to Homura? "Oh, Homura and others will help Madoka to fight Kyubey", until when? How many magical girl will be trapped in Kyubey's separate dimension to bait Madoka to cleanse them? Kyubey just need ONE CHANCE, only ONE CHANCE to controlled Madoka, and that's it. Homura realize the horrible future for Madoka, and she wanted to be the agent to change it, and truly does she grab it.

    • @uploader109
      @uploader109 6 лет назад +16

      Well, I'm not so sure Kyubey could trap Madoka in any other case *unless* it were Homura. The witch would have to invite Madoka in, and no one knows who Madoka is. So the girl would either be stuck in Witch limbo due to the field forever, or die to her own curses.

      Ann Snowfrost I like how in the beginning with all the crashing structures they’re actually heads. Like how Homura tried to kill herself through a headshot earlier in the movie and all her multiple selves in other timelines also reaching their conclusion. The burning scaffolding falling from the sky being a representative of her self destruction, along with all of her other timeline failures leading up to a single moment. The way that her immediate and symbolical world burns around her as she plumes into despair at the realisation of her being the witch. It’s beautifully written and choreographed and animated and it gives me chills every single time. Even her conversation with Kyoko is symbolic in that she threw it all away for a single goal, only to end up meaningless in the end. People, friends, everything for Madoka. All for nothing.

    “FORT! DA!” Which refers to Freud’s theory that those who do not remember past trauma may have the drive to repeat the repressed experience in their present life.
    FORT! DA! Is referred to Homura. It speaks on her forgetting her memories in the beginning of the movie, and to her reliving her cycle of trying to save Madoka and later discovering she is the witch.

    What's really funny is Homura seems to be able to freeze time for seemingly hours at a time without nearly any cost to her or her magic reserves, not to mention her rewind abilities. She also possesses a pocket dimension meaning she can bend space and time, and considering that she's the reason that Madoka has as much potential energy as she does the Incubators not pursuing her over Madoka can only be because they're complete morons.
    After all, who cares about Madoka when Homura made Madoka? Control Homura and you control potentially infinite Madokas.

    • @misspoppyseed3909
      @misspoppyseed3909 4 года назад +41

      note4note that’s why they let her do it. In infinite timelines she tries and fails to save Madoka. With incubators being infinitely omnipresent, it only makes sense to utilise the one trigger for all your energy. Whenever she went back, she essentially began the long or short process of turning on a battery. With each succession becoming longer or shorter than the last, and each resulting in either a total failure (which would guarantee another attempt) or a successful transformation into a witch (which gives the big energy). They were quite smart. One thing dedicating its entire existence, infinitely loyal, never straying from its one cause. Blinded by emotions that they cannot fathom. They gave her all the tools she needed to build up their energy. She was the tool. And they? They were the ones using it. Funny in the end I suppose.

      You have to remember that in the new world madoka created the incubators don’t even remember her rewriting it. It was only until homura for some reason telling incubator about it at the end of the series. All the incubators did was use homura to test what the witch concept is and lure out madoka in order to control her. The incubators were actually smart if you’d ask me cuz their plan almost worked. They confirmed and was able to pin point the law of cycles (madoka) thx to homura referring it being her used isolated homura soul gem and waited as madoka get trapped in lol.

  • @IWroteSomeThings
    @IWroteSomeThings 6 лет назад +642

    So I’m guessing the grief seeds stay dormant until one of two things happens, the magical girl realizes it happened and accepts (basically unleashing her full witch power) or she collects so much despair within her grief seed until it just explodes, or hatches unleashing her witch form.

    • @uploader109
      @uploader109 6 лет назад +144

      Emerald Riii True, but Homura is stuck in stasis since the incubators prevented the witch transformation from completing.
      So even though she's calling herself a witch, she's technically more in a limbo.

    • @IWroteSomeThings
      @IWroteSomeThings 6 лет назад +93

      uploader109 she was stuck but the incubators only did that because that timeline didn’t have witches to begin with only wrath’s and they wanted to test it. Witches are built up in the grief seed. Then unleashed. So witches were new to those incubators of that timeline. Homura only has the witches maze in her soul gem because the incubators trapped her if they didn’t do that Homura would have fallen the path of Sayaka.

    • @uploader109
      @uploader109 6 лет назад +17

      Probably not as instantaneously. Madoka would probably have no way to reverse the witch transformation if it happened right before she can take her soul away. We aren't sure exactly how much of the Law of Cycles was in Homura's soul gem, so it could very well be possible that another Madoka (due to time shenanigans) was there anyway.
      In any case, she would still have about a few minutes before her soul gem completely transformed since they had enough time to give her back her soul gem before she woke back up and Madoka was on her way.

    • @straypaper
      @straypaper 6 лет назад +74

      Homura isn't in limbo. She's a full blown witch from the movie's get go. The whole city is her Labyrinth and she absorbed Kyoko and Mami (ONLY Kyoko and Mami because Sayaka, Madoka, and Bebe wasn't absorbed but instead infiltrated her Labyrinth). In this universe, the Madokami universe, witches don't exist because the Law of Cycle exist, BUT the incubators found ways to isolate Soul Gems from the law, leading to this movie. If the incubators hadn't trapped her, Homura would just ascended and not become a witch at all.

    The Madokas appearing in the background of the labyrinth (when Kyoko is on the phone) Only appear after Homura mentions her.
    This same thing happens before, when she thinks about Bebe (during her battle with Mami) and Bebe appears on the screens behind her.
    This is reminiscent of Sayaka’s memories playing on screens around her after she turns into a witch in the series- And it foreshadows Homura’s control over the environment, pointing to her being the witch long before it’s revealed :) The amount of detail in this movie is phenomenal hhhh I never get tired of it

    Ok so I figured out why the chant “fort da” can be heard in the background. I did a bit of research and it turns out this is a reference to Sigmund Freud. In short, it means that humans tend to want to relive their past trauma in order to “master” it, aka learn how to deal with it better. This makes sense as it’s pretty close to what homura did. Reliving madoka’s demise over and over because she wanted to find a way to stop it. I love that madoka magica has deep symbolism that makes you think about and analyze what’s going on

      Homura was always jealous for Sakura ability to improvize and proceed with a quick and clever decision. Since she was tied to Madoka, she was struggling all the time. Mami is a solo player, Sayaka is a hypocrite so in case things were wrong, Sayaka would be the best choice for a quick necessary and dirty actions.
      On the other hand, Homura was mentally strong from the very beginning and she wish to protect Madoka, because she was the weakest and purest one.
      Tbh, I appreciate their friendship more then what Homura did for Madoka at the end of rebellion (which is the ultimate sacrifice still, reconfigure the whole universe just for one person sake is an insane gesture of love)

      Kyubey gets what he deserves, but she’s actually making things _worse_ with the Incubator situation. According to Kyubey, magic requires “emotional energy,” and how powerful the magical girl is depends on how strong their karma is. Kyubey has been around for _everything,_ since the first magical girl made her wish, through Ultimate Madoka’s rewrite to now Akuma Homura’s rewrite. That’s more magical potential than any other magical girl that’s ever lived. Now with Akuma Homura shoving the universe’s curses into him, he has tons of emotions to spare, and insanity too. This means he can grant himself his own wish. That is the worst possible outcome.

      John Doe I know this comment is a whole year old but the incubators can’t feel emotions. Kyubey says so multiple times throughout the series. So even with all of the curses shoved into them it’s not like the incubators could really do something with it. Also I don’t think they can grant themselves wishes, if they could I’d think they’d do it right off the bat to fix the universes energy problem instead of creating the magical girl system

      Daniel Martínez yes she did. She kept going back in time. It's her fault she became a witch. Her wish came with a price.

      @@teeveeee I can't exactly feel bad for a full blown yandere. Just because she's cuter doesn't mean she wasn't just an obsessed girl ready to kill anyone for Madoka.

    • @LesbiansMarie

      She did tons of things wrong, she made mistakes. She’s human. Her actions were given consequence. She isn’t a good person.
      All though, this doesn’t mean she’s a bad person, she’s a selfish person. That also doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve forgiveness, because she does. She needs a mother like figure, somebody to cry to, she latched on to Madoka and fell in love with her in every way (sisterly, platonically, romantically, daughterly, etc)
      So yes, Homura did do things wrong, but she deserves forgiveness. She dug her own grave for somebody and her actions became useless, and was buried in grief. Her actions were justified, but not right. Homura’s actions are justified is probably what you meant.

      PLEASE,EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN'T WATCHED THE MOVIE,I KNOW THE PLOT. SHE BASICALLY STEALS SOME OF MADOKA's POWER TO MAKE A NEW YOU KNOW WHAT!

  • @negate4828

    in terms of the three strongest witches in order in madoka magica it is
    1.gretchen
    2.Homulily
    3.walpurgisnacht
    yes homulily is way more dangerous that walpurgisnacht look at the pure numbers of servants and then there is the clara dolls which could probably beat walpurgisnacht just on their own
    even if it was homulilly vs walpurgisnacht of how much destruction they can cause in a certain amount of time homulilly's hand ribbons are much more destructive and unpredictable you can even see this when homura realizes she is a witch you can see meteors and things blowing up just by her finding out and look at how many kyubeys her servants killed kyubey is pretty agile so for her servants to outspeed him by just running themselves is scary due to if you have no magical girls who can doe aoe attacks then your pretty much screwed against her

    If you look up Homulilly’s wiki it says the Clara dolls are the children of the false city, is the false Mitakihara city the false city the wiki is talking about?
