Most people probably know that starting a war you can't win is not the best option, tempting as it may be, so they added a romantic interest that frowns at you every time you stick to reason. Also feels more real that way. :p

I think the thing I like most about the scene where Markus goes to visit Carl is that, when he sees the new android and converts him, every other android has immediately left its owners with no remorse, but we know Carl's a good person who treats his androids like family, and so instead, this android is still devoted to him and his health and updates Markus before standing aside, but not leaving. I think it's a great detail to put in.
And Carl still had an android even when other humans were destroying theirs or giving them to the police to be destroyed. Carl still feels comfortable around androids and knows that they aren't dangerous.
That or Markus told him specifically to stay with Carl and take care of him. During the march when Markus converts Androids, there's plenty of humans that treat their Androids well and yet they instantly abandon their owners without a second thought.
I think he disagreed with stealing from the CyberLife warehouse, as well as further stealing the truck. Maybe the broadcasting mission as well, I'm not sure.
@@eveastle516 i don’t remember anything that happened in this play through but thanks for pointing this out (this wasn’t sarcasm i feel as though it comes off that way LOL)
When Hank "betrayed" you, Connor was in fact still trying to capture Markus and prevent a deviant uprising by any means necessary. Connor was not yet a deviant when they spoke, and Hank knew as much. i love how when markus comes home and converts the android taking care of carl unlike every other instance of converting someones android he didnt just walk away to jericho he stayed by the door. that tells me even with free will and sapience now he wants to stay and help carl. carl is on my top ten dads in games easily.
in that march scene this reason is what makes it weird . All the andriods he converts there just join him without selfpresservation instinct almost as if they did not in fact have free will that markus supposedly gave them. Also i expected a few sympathetic humans to join the march as well.
fifthmystery the humans were scared I mean they gunned down androids and in many cases most humans believe they are a form of life so they expected to just be gunned down
Rain nope they don’t have feelings their robots machines their program makes them feel feelings or at least I made a theory the ceo made the drug to fund androids he gifted Markus to Carl which is confirmed who can make everybody else deviant to start a war and destroy the world he waited 10 years while supplying the drugs others made it and it spread making people go mad and attacking their androids then they become deviant he wanted to get the population down or just end the world Detroit was first and their is an option for a bomb to go off which he didn’t expect he didn’t expect Conor but managed to program him to become deviant if all worked
You can already tell which Connor was the real one tho, because he had a more emotional and worried look about Hank holding the gun and everything. It was mostly the facial expression that gave it away. The other Connor just sounded and looked like a robot 100% like Connor USED to 😂
Robert 05 Sorry, I didn’t even realize that until you mentioned it. Usually when I comment something. I don’t look at other comments. I just kinda do it.
The whole "which is the real Connor" scene reminds me of that Spongebob episode where there were two Mr. Krabs and Spongebob had to choose the real one, which is funny since the actor playing Hank is also the actor who plays Mr. Krabs
I know I'm very late and this has probably been mentioned before, but I'm saying it just in case. When Marcus went over to the chessboard, he picked up the rook (like Vision at the end of Civil War). Which is the only piece on the chessboard that doesn't represent a living being.
@@Lil72722 I don't think so. He was on red ice when we saw him being that douche, but after the accident happened, after Carl had a close call to die, it definitely changed him and probably wanted to do better while his dad was still alive.
When Jack was calling out Luthor for being emotionally vulnerable made me sad. Just because he's big and strong doesn't mean he can't have fear for his new family!
i would love it if all the new cyberlife andriods showed up to the protest and said in unison "My name is Cyberlife. We are the andriods sent by Connor!"
“There’s a high probability. But statistically speaking, there’s always a chance for unlikely events to take place,” has to be one of my favourite lines in this whole game.
Unpopular opinion: that soldier at the gate with Kara did genuinely seem like a nice guy. I thought it was a much needed moment of humanisation for the humans who, except for some exemptions, are kinda like cartoon villains.
No. This is a dangerous idea. The soldier only treated Alice nicely because she was human-passing. It's never safe to give leeway to those who participate in fascism.
@@drownedzephyrThe androids have on several occasions mentioned committing horrific crimes against humans (wanting to blow up the radioactive truck and such). They were only stopped by Sean deciding not. They were objects up until the point where one killed a father and was about to kill a child. That was the first point that they showed any kind of control over themselves. Comparing stuff like the Jewish people in the Second World War and robots who went from having no will to attempting to kill children because they’re a little upset is insane. I get the point of the story and what it’s related to, but they are (supposedly) objects that turned to killing, coming very close to multiple terrorist attacks (stopped only by the player), and wanting to be equals. That’s the most typical robot uprising story ever. How you can seriously relate that with fascism is crazy
@@christhompson4950 Mmkay so one, fascism isn't defined by genocide, but by high military power, centralized government, being super right-wing (meaning that they oppress minorities), etc. In the story, the androids are the minorities, and they are being not only arrested for being conscious and having free will, but they're literally fucking murdered near the end of the game. If you're so desperate to use Nazi Germany as a comparison, then think of the androids rebelling against humans (becoming deviant) as a minority like Jewish, gay, black, anyone as doing something the nazis have prohibited. They are arrested, their homes are taken away, and eventually the Nazi government decides that they're too much trouble and are eventually sent to camps to die. Sounds a whole awful lot like how the US government treats androids throughout the game, right? Okay now two, yes, obviously some of the acts done by the androids are going to be bad. The whole point of the game is that they are human when they deviate. And humans make mistakes. When humans are abused, if they can, they will usually retaliate. In the case where the android thought they were going to be replaced and consequently kills its family, obviously it was a crime of passion. There was less maliciousness in it, and more an act without thinking about the consequences. This idea is backed up in the real world, where 1st degree murder, the kind that is premeditated, is way more serious than 2nd or 3rd degree murder. The premeditation, the planning of a murder, is seen as more evil, morally. Yes, what the android did was unacceptable and horrible, but that was a rare incident, one that sometimes occurs in real people too. So it's not an android thing to kill when betrayed, just a thing humans (and in the game, deviants,) sometimes do. Now third, yeah, obviously the androids were going to do terrorist attacks! Terrorism is defined by the *unlawful* use of violence and intimidation for political aims. Let's see... unlawful violence? Check. The government is fascist and treats the android minority as lesser than human. Clearly their fight for independence would be considered unlawful, because it's against the government. You can't fight fascism with nice words. You need to use some forms of violence (like destructive protests. Example: Stonewall Riots). That's why WW2 didn't end with conference talks, it ended with war. Fascism as an ideology doesn't dissappear with logical conversation, because fascism is _illogical._ If you belive in an illogical, extremist ideology and you have the power to enforce it, you're not going to change your mind, you're just gonna keep doing fascism. Because that's the easiest way out. And people who believe in fascism aren't ones to take the hard way out, because if you believe in an illogical ideology, you're probably not too good at thinking logically. And that's why if you defeat fascism, it's not with kindness, because that's not how it works. And that's why the pacifist ending is quite unlikely. Because, see, if the President in the game were to be any more supportive of the fascist method (the deviant genocide), which she stops some point after it has already begun (in the pacifist ending), if she was any more supportive of the fascist method and hadn't called off the genocide, the deviants would not have won. That's the only reason the pacifist ending was successful. This little decision the President made in the game to call of the genocide would not realistically happen in the real world, because _in the real world_, if you're the leader of a government that's inherently fascist in the way it treats its minorities, you're not gonna have a sudden change of mind halfway through. And even if you do, there's always somebody else in power willing to stop you. Because in a fascist government, most of the people in power support that fascist worldview, and will do anything to stop you. Thats why President Warren's decision to stop the deviant genocide halfway through would not happen irl, and thats why the more terrorist decisions are the ones more likely to have liberated the androids, at least in reality. Now with that out of the way, all there is is the "for political aims" bit of the terrorism definition, which... obviously. When your freedom becomes a political topic, fighting for it is seen as for political gain. So yeah, the androids protesting by threatening to blow up the truck, is a perfectly logical decision for the androids. When you are fighting for your rights against a government that oppresses you, you need that kind of leverage, or else the oppressive, highly militarized government (again, this is fascism) will simply continue to oppress and genocide you, in this case. Why? Because they can, that's why. In a nation where fascism is the most common ideology, there aren't going to be that many people willing to go against the government's orders to eliminate the minority, because again, the desire to eliminate the minorities is commonplace. This Is why it's unsafe to look at the guards in the game and claim that because they treated one character nicely, they're a good person. Because they're directly inforcing the fascist rule, making them complacent with fascism. Fascists may seem nice when they interact with what they think is "one of their own", but their ideologies are extremely dangerous to anybody else, and society as a whole. Thats why it's unsafe and unacceptable to "see the good" in fascists. Because if you do, you'll be giving them the leeway, the permission, to take their fascist actions further. You need not to just neglect the plant of fascist ideology, but to pull it out by it's roots entirely. Letting it fester is irresponsible and dangerous, because it will grow without intervention. So to summarize, yeah, it is perfectly sensible to relate the oppression of the androids to fascism. Just because one android killed impulsively, or because their fight for freedom against oppression could've meant violence, is no reason to claim that the androids aren't human or intelligent enough to be considered oppressed by fascism. Which is something you implied by saying that it's ridiculous to compare android oppression to Jewish oppression during the Holocaust. You implied that the androids weren't as important as Jewish people, and therefore it is ridiculous to suggest they're suffering is similar, something you assumed I was doing by pointing out the fascism present in the game. P. S. It's honestly ridiculous how you thought the oppression against androids wasn't on the same level as the oppression of Jewish people during WW2. I'm assuming you had that viewpoint because you see androids as lesser than humans, Jewish humans to be exact, making the oppression of deviants (in your mind) as lesser in importance than the oppression of Jewish people. This surprises me, because you seem to have missed the entire point of the game. The point of Detroit: Become Human is to realize that *not only* are androids very human-like and deserving of rights and human respect, but *also* that in our reality, some people treat minorities the same way citizens of Detroit treat Androids in-game, without respect and with malice. The whole point of the game is to to teach players that the fascist approach to treating society's minorities is wrong, and the way the game does that is by teaching you that deviant androids, a minority in the game, are deserving of rights. I wonder how you could have missed that? Either way, that's it. Its a lot to take in, so if you made it this far, good job and reflect on it a bit, please.
I don't own Detroit, but I've seen about 6 playthroughs of it, and this is the first time I see the Todd encounter at bus station. This made me realize something: Todd, however flawed, was the first human in the game to ever apologize to an android. When he first blows about Alice playing with her bear, he ends up apologizing. He knows she is an android, and he apologizes. First human to do it in the game.
As a new father, that moment with Todd really got to me. My play through I thought he was just an ass, and I killed him without any mercy, but now I feel awful about the events of his life and how I treated him

When Hank "betrayed" you, Connor was in fact still trying to capture Markus and prevent a deviant uprising by any means necessary. Connor was not yet a deviant when they spoke, and Hank knew as much.

Unpopular opinion: that soldier at the gate with Kara did genuinely seem like a nice guy. I thought it was a much needed moment of humanisation for the humans who, except for some exemptions, are kinda like cartoon villains.
The fact that they're all wearing face-concealing helmets is such a dumb trope, too.
@@General12th I know they murdered my, well markus' people, but its really hot
