  • QuickTime Player editing is quick and simple! In this tutorial I show you how to do it using QuickTime Player for macOS Catalina 10.15.2.
Not only can you use QuickTime Player to record video, audio, and your computer screen, you can use it to edit your videos!
You might be thinking: "why would I use QuickTime Player to edit when I have the much-more-capable iMovie or Final Cut Pro X already sitting on my Mac?" QuickTime Player is great for simple editing tasks, where you don't necessarily want to create a whole iMovie, or Final Cut Pro project just to get the job done.

On the other hand, being a non native English speaker, I have to say that the way you speak is awesome. Your vocalization is so good that it is of a great help for non native speakers.
Thanks a lot again for you great job.

Mike, I stand with the many you've astounded by taking time to reveal the abilities with what have likely been considered as simple apps. Being a long-time "Mac Man" (dare I claim that), this video pulled me to another video editing (YT) film of yours. From there, another subscription was added to your colony, more word-of-mouth about your videos have been passed on, &, of course, another thumbs up added. The time you've taken to appreciate new & old users of the apps you define is acknowledged, as well as, highly valued.

All Cudos Dude. I've been sitting at my Mac (recovering from surgery) for a month trying to learn how to edit video. I saw some nice folks who were trying to teach this process ~ sadly all they'll ever be able to do is try. I own two nice businesses and I'm certainly not a dummy but I've never felt so dumb trying to follow the instructions I was hearing. Then, last night, I found your tutorials. What a breath of fresh air. Your concise, professional and thoughtful approach is proof that you are top-notch as an educator in this field. I'm as grateful as can be and for what it's worth, I think you're gonna be a star. I've already made two calls to tell friends to watch your videos and subscribe. Thanks Mike.

This is a tutorial that everyone that wants to learn QT should watch. Your presentation is the best I can imagine. You talk slowly with easy instructions that result with the listener being able to accomplish wonders. I purchased a MacMini M1 which lost Screenflow for a time. But with your instructions I was able to accomplish the same thing in QT, with the advantage of seeing my camera picture while recording, which SF isn't able to do. I then added my intro screen made in Keynote. The only thing I wasn't able to do was to fade out of the black titles and fade into the screen capture. Thank you so much for taking the time to make videos which help so many.

As someone who has used Final Cut (and occasionally Premier) for over 10 years, I must say this is a fantastic tutorial. I used to use QT7 to do this and always suspected the newer QT player could do all this too, but never dug into it. A great time saving option for quick simple jobs. Thankyou!

I find perhaps the most useful thing is in a complicated project destined for iMovie, you can do the basic choosing, trimming, and ordering of clips and *name them* clearly, because once in iMovie you can't ID them readily (other than the little Clip Information icon top right) so basically Quicktime helps with basic structure and organisation.
