Hi everyone, we have an update on the ideal temperature for String of Dolphins is that it should be kept between 50-55°F in the winter and around 72°F in the summer.

This is wonderful… but can you also display the temperature in Celsius for everyone else in the world? 195 countries in the world… with 5 using Fahrenheit. Having to jump out of YT to convert temps is not ideal. Lovely videos btw.

You didn't mention them opening up and losing the shape of the dolphin. Is there any cure for that?

Hi, the dolphin leaves can start to lose their shape or flatten out due to overwatering. Hold off with your watering until the soil dries out before hydrating the soil again. In a few days, the dolphin leaves should regain their curved shape and look like miniature dolphins jumping out of the water.

Can’t you also propagate by placing the cuts in water?

Yes, the water propagation method also works with this succulent 😉

are you sure they should be put in a south facing window? Mine got fried sitting in the sun. I had to move it into indirect light

In my country (the UK) it takes more than a week for the soil in any of my pots to turn completely dry!

Yes! Watering once per week during their growing seasons (which usually happens in Spring to early Fall) and once per month during their dormant period every winter😉

Can't for the life of me keep mine alive. It nearly died after I first brought it home and it's barely hanging on now. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Right now it's very stretched out with barely any dolphins on it. Hoping I can propagate it and start over.

May be struggling due to insufficient light and overwatering. Ensure it receives bright, indirect sunlight and allow the soil to dry out at least 1-2 inches deep before watering. You can use your finger to check the soil. If the soil feels dry and powdery when you stick your finger in up to the second knuckle, it's time to water your plant. If the soil is soggy, consider repotting it in fresh, well-draining soil.
