My goodness, you are full of great information! I love your tip for misting the top inch! I keep over or under watering my strings and have killed a few. All very great, helpful info. Also, didn't know that about keeping light on the top of the pot to prevent the baldness. Thank you so much!!
@@cindyhawkins7293 You don't have to do much of anything. String of pearls is pretty low mantinence. Just make sure to top of the plant is getting plenty of light. Typically succulents like a bit less water when in bloom. With strings of pearls in general it doesn't require a lot of watering. I just give all of mine a good soaking about every 1.5 to 2 weeks....or when the little pearls look thirsty. Less is more when it comes to string of pearls.
So helpful! So just to make sure that I understand, you want to water the entire plant, but in-between big waterings while waiting for the bottom half of the pot to dry, you can lightly water the top inch or so. Then when the bottom half is dry, do a big water again? This might explain why I've never been able to keep a string of pearls alive and why I just killed my string of dolphins. My string of turtles is thriving though. Thanks for the tips!
Omw im on my fifth new pot of strings of pearls. It every time dies. My daughter bought me a brand new one for my birthday. Its doesnt look to good but i hope it will grow. I think i over water it in the past. Thanks for the spray tip. (Im Bernadette)
I love the strings ❤ Took me a while to get the hang of it but once you do it's so rewarding. I've been using dyna gro products for about 9 years now and love their products. I also love using super thrive when there in any kind of stress and it works wonders ❤ Your plants are gorgeous.
I was wondering why my string of hearts was so bare up top but the leaves on the vines seemed healthy. I'll definitely try misting the top of the plant to see if that helps bring it back to life up top
Thank you for this video cos I'm really new to string of plants. Straight off the bat I learned that I need to change pots....mine are way too deep. And also the keiki paste....beaut tip👍🏼We are in the growing season here in Sydney so am excited to see fuller, healthier growth for my string of pearls, dolphins and bananas ! Thank for sharing your knowledge😉😍
I just got a string of turtles so I am so thankful for the info! One question, if they have very short roots why do you have them in such a deep pot? Wouldn't a shallow pot be best? all your plants are so beautiful.
Thank you so much for all these very useful tips, it's going to help me a great deal to have better success. 😊 I'm very happy and excited to try them out 👍❤
Thanks for the lovely video! Also, I love your sofa. Would you recommend it as comfortable and if so would you be able to tell me where you bought it from and the colour or name of the fabric as I love the colour so much! X
How do you get such thick plump leaves with the SOH? I just bought a new variegated one and the leaves are super thick. I had one that was thriving…until it wasn’t. 😂 But it never got such thick leaves. I can’t seem to find an answer. Thanks for such great videos.
Tbh I think it might be from the fertilizers and extra things she’s been putting in the water. My string of pearls is NOT that big/long. I got it in a nursery pot this year. I’ve had it for about 8 months and it’s not nearly as big as hers. She got hers the same size as I did and she’s had it for 9 months and it looks HUGE. I realize I don’t water with foliage pro (even though I have it) and now I’m thinking that’s what’s speeding up the growth. 😊
How do I save my fishhook plant? Noticed the strings looks dehydrated but top soil seems wet enough...then took it out if the planter and noticed a bunch of hooks had died...and many were on their way out. And it suddenly needed water. So, I watered it and placed it outside for a day...just in case it was not getting enough light on my west facing desk...where the pot was about a foot way from the window. It was so healthy when I got it...not that long ago. Really want to save it.
Do you remove the tubers from String of hearts when repotting? I'd actually be able to use the same hanging pot which I love if I can safely remove some of the tubers. The soil is packed full of them.
Hey! :) I recently got a string of turtles and it has some decent length from the vines that are there but how do I get it to fill out like yours? Should I trim the vines and stick them in the bare areas at the top of my soil? Or will it start to naturally fill out as I care for it?
OK! Please tell me how many varieties of String of Heart there are. Also where is the best place to get them(healthy, not expensive) I have one that keeps changing from not variegated to variegated, and I wonder if they all tend to be unstable like that. I just got a baby String of Pearls-variegated-and I wonder if that is also unstable. Thanks. Quite a verdant sunroom you have!
Thank you so much for this video! I just got my first string of’s (SOT) ever about a week ago and they intimidate me a little. They’re beside a south facing window right now, but you mentioned yours being in an east window. My east window does get direct sunlight, throughout the day, do you think they’d still be ok there? I’ve had to move them throughout the day by the south window to keep them from burning 😬
Im about to purchase a string of pearls tom, im debating on buying all five products u mentioned, soil, foilage pro, and the bug hut 3. Do they have a good crossover with other plants like spider and monstera. I have a chain plant, i assume theu woukd work well for that and my cacti. Am i right before i invest?
Very helpful. I have had zero results with Keiki paste. I have tried it on so many plants and I get nothing. I follow the directions . Scrape the spot a little.
hi. thanks for sharing all this tips!. mine is hanging from a bit high shelf, if I lower it from time to tmie for the sun to touch the top, it would be ok?. also, I watered my string of hearts from the bottom and I had to replant it as it was soaking wet! now I know I´ve just have to water it a bit.
My string of hearts keeps dying on me 🙈 I have tried only watering the top when the soil is dry, and i have tried letting it dry out and only water the plant when the top leafs gets a bit soft and it still dies (but not the whole plant as before) the wines just shrinks at the base and dies off every time and it can happen in just a day where it looked fine a day earlier, do you have an idea of what i am doing wrong 🙈
I have my SOH in a south window that receives light for 4+ hours a day right now in the winter. Seems like my SOT likes it, but I’m losing my SOH leaves. Is it too much light? SOH is in a 2inch pot (just growing a little baby right now ☺️) SOT is in a 4in pot
I’ve had mine for about a year. I am not sure why all my new growth have very tiny turtles. The original turtles have faded in color, but are nice and big. My new turtles are tiny but darker. I keep them under a grow light. Any thoughts to why I’ve got such tiny guys??
Me too, I don't know why all my new growths are so tiny. I did cut all the flowers that were insignificant, so they don't take all the energy of the plant. Maybe they need a fertilizer? But it's fall now, not a good season to fertilize plants...
Hi, I think I’ve binged watched just about all of ur video’s such beautiful plants. I have a couple of small vsoh & since repotting them they have grown lots but they are light green not pink. U can actually see the original vines & hearts are pink but then all the new growth isn’t. Do u have any suggestions? 💖🪴
Never was there a more beautiful plant then String of Pearls.
Never was there a more frustrating plant then String of Pearls!
Your explanations were so clear and concise. I have a better understanding of what to do now. Thanks

My string of pearls is just about in bloom. Tons of flowers this year. They have such a lovely anise smell...at least that's what I smell:)
Yes I love the smell!! It’s cinnamon to me!
This was not discussed in this video which I was waiting for. How to care for the flowers.

Could you do a video showing you fertilizing them if you haven't already please?
Can link the “squatty” short, wide pots you like for them?
Thank you for the tips. I haven’t had success with”string of” plants yet. Hopefully with your tips I can improve.
Thank you for helping me take care of my plant babies better 🥰
Your picture with your plants are so pretty. You should make a magazine with shots of your plant and talk about them there
You have focused on the right things in my opinion. Fullness over length makes these plants a showcase piece. 🪴🌿
Can you plant different types of string plants to together in the same pot
@housplantplus, Omgosh the hanging pot tray is genius..i was always having to take mine down which is a big pain in my butt. Ty,

You bet!

I am so happy that I found your RUclips videos. Can you tell me what you do for soil gnats? And, what part of the country do you live in?
Thank you for your help on my string of pearls. Your plans are beautiful.
Where did you get your humidifier
You answered so many questions about my string of turtles! Thank you 💖

Very helpful!
do you water from top down or bottom up with string of pearl , turtlle , heart plants?
Thanks for the vid!! Came at just the right time. Just got new turtles and have a rehab soh! 🖤🖤
Yay! So happy it was helpful 💚
What causes this plant to turn brown?
Information about your water pump sprayer. Brand and where did you purchase it
Thanks for the lovely video! Also, I love your sofa. Would you recommend it as comfortable and if so would you be able to tell me where you bought it from and the colour or name of the fabric as I love the colour so much! X

What was the name of the soil ❤this was very helpful thank you also the fertilizers you use thank You ❤
My new terracotta pot has fuzzy mold growing on the outside of the pot????
Do you wait for the string of pears to go squishy before you water deeply? Or do you just check the soil all the way down with a wooden dowel?
I just check the soil, I usually don’t wait for them to go squishy
What is the shelving you have in your big picture window. Looks really cool!

I definitely want to try!
Go for it!

Can you put the paste on the top nodes for a fuller top
Love your watch! What is it?

Hi there, my balcony north and kitchen have some sun at east
I don’t have any another east and south sun.
Please help me u need your advice
Thank you
I am new to string ofs. I got string of pearls and it is dieing. How do I tell my f it is root rot or too dry? Can I save my plant?
Does foilage pro work for spider plants? U said all ur plants right, not just ur succulents?

Yes that would help but it’d be ideal if you could keep it lower indefinitely

Hi do you mix the 3 fertilizer together thanks
The bughut products aren’t fertilizer so they can easily be mixed with foliage pro or another fertilizer of your choice 🙌🏻
I have my SOH in a south window that receives light for 4+ hours a day right now in the winter. Seems like my SOT likes it, but I’m losing my SOH leaves. Is it too much light?
SOH is in a 2inch pot (just growing a little baby right now ☺️)
SOT is in a 4in pot
Yes the soh could be drying out too quickly especially in a tiny pot

8 where?
How often do you use the products on your plants? Is it every time you water them?
Yes every time
The plastic trays for watering are super wasteful. Plastic pollution.
